on advancedDataGridControl in flex3 , how to do the following:
1. Add Columns at runtime ( programmatically )
2. Specify the column grouping ( programmatically )
3. set method to be used to show summary row ( programmatically)
I'm making an application where I display an AdvanvedDataGrid with one column with dates(in format DD/MM/YYYY) and another with datetimes (in format HH:MM). I'd like to sort dates according with the datetimes as well(just clicking in the header of the column), there is an examplen of the expected behaviour:

_currentDatosBusqueda is an arraycollection I receive from the Server (with the correct format of dates and datetime).
I'm using an AdvancedDataGrid without the header row (AdvancedDataGrid.showHeaders="false"), my AdvancedDataGrid has 2 columns, where the first one will show a hierarchical data (tree).The tree may be very long and very deep or may contain a long string in the node label so the user will not be able to see the whole vale of the tree node, I want to be able to resize the column using the vertical separator of the gris (the one displayed/separates between columns) or to be able to define a horizontal scroll bar only for the first column.

It should be the same behavior like clicking in a columns head. i'm not looking for a solution to sort the fields IN a the grouping. There is working solution named compareFunction. But I'm not able to sort the two rows in my picture by column "Einnahmen". Sorry for the german word.

I thought perhaps setting highlightUID would do the trick, but I can't seem to get the ADG rendering to update.
I have a Datagrid that is being populated by an ArrayCollection (rows) of Arrays (columns).I need to update the headerText of each column based on a List that will correspond with the total number of items within each array in the arraycollection. What is the best way of doing this? I know that I can set a listener in the List and update the headerText using (matrixDatagrid.columns[i] as DataGridColumn).headerText but I am looking for a cleaner solution.

View 2 RepliesI've reviewed all the documentation and Google results surrounding this and I think I have everything setup correctly. My problem is that the symbol is not appearing in my app. I have a MovieClip symbol that I've embedded to my Flex Component. I need to create a new Image control for each item from my dataProvider and assign this embedded symbol as the Image's source. I thought it was simple but apparently not.
Here's a stub of the code:

I have a Tree Control inside my Flex Application which I want to edit on a doubleclick on a tree item. I found the properties doubleClickEnabled= "true", doubleClick="startEditMode()", and editable="true". With these functions I can detect a double click and I can change the editable property to true based on a double click. The problem is that after I double clicked on a Item i have to click once more to really enter the edit mode. That doesn't seem to be intuitive at all..

The usage in the project is to be able to represent any data from a database, with any number of possible groupings on the horizontal and vertical axis.
Could someone offer some guidance on the most efficient structure to get an XML return in order to build these kind's of pivots on the fly. All the examples I have seen are statically defined. What I would like to do is be able to have a structure for a return that could give any level of grouping and data return from a web service call.
The tool I'm building is a reporting tool, so users could drag any DB field into column or row potentially so the key thing is the ability to define and build "any structure" a user would want.
Flash has an API to control the volume for a Sound object. Can volume be controlled like this currently or is there support planned for <audio> or <video> html5 elements?
View 2 RepliesI have a flat data array that comes form a remoteobject, I want to group whatever is to be grouped, but leave single items (the ones with no common data with anything else) alone and without grouping, it's annoying to open each node only to find there's just one item inside, so there was no need to put it inside that group anyway. I can't find any reference and I don't know if getting the hierarchicaldata out of the groupingcollection and then iterate thru it would be any good, sounds like a lot of duplicate work.

With the items inside of the grouping I have it setup where you double click on an item and it will create a popup that allows the user to edit that entry. The problem that I am having is that I can double click on the group title and the popup is activated with blank information.[code]...

I looked at the AdvancedDataGrid but the user does not want to have a tree-structure in any of the columns. View 1 RepliesI have an advanced data grid. The data provider for this ADG is an ArrayCollection. There is a grouping collection on an ID field of this AC. Example of a couple items within this AC the AC var name is "arcTemplates":

Problem: In my AC example there are a few items, items 0, 32 and 56 properly sort and group to their templateTypeID, but item 55 does something weird. It seems to sort/group on the numeric 5 instead of the string "5". Gets stranger. If I change the name property to contain text (so 1234x) it then correctly sorts/groups to the string "5"
I have implemented drag and drop between 2 AdvancedDataGrid, but the default behaviour from Flex displays the row data during the drag using the grid item renderer showing all 5 columns.
Instead, I would like to display an icon / image or my own custom item renderer during the drag and drop.
Is there any way to detect if AdvancedDataGrid itemClick event is actually caused by the user dragging? I'd like to take action on click, but ignore drag.

The dataprovider is the result of the HTTPService . And the number of columns is not known to us . The number of columns depends on the HTTPService result.

I would like to add new row on the fly (runtime) to my AdvancedDataGrid.I can add it to the data model, but couldn't find a way to make the table render and show the new row.What i am seeking for is to create an effect of expandable item, where clicking on row will show "additional information" (like a drawer) and clicking on row expand button will reveal it's children.I saw examples of this for dataGrid (http:url...), but not for AdavancedDataGrid.Only way I found to do this is to add a new child and use openItem, but this cause the other children to be visible as well.

I have a spark skinnable component which contains a datagroup with images. The datagroup is scrolled by hovering the mouse over it. Everything works fine except one thing: after I change the datagroup provider, I need to scroll down automatically. The problem is the images are not loaded immediately after I set the provider so (contentHeight - height) does not yet represent the actual maximum scrolling position. Is there an easy way of telling the datagroup to scroll down as its content loads? Because the workaround seems to be not so straightforward. This is the code for scrolling(thumbnailStrip is my datagroup):

I am getting the values as ArrayCollection, but when i bind it to my Datagrid, i am not getting any values.... though the objects returned from PHP are fine.
I've got a subclass of AdvancedDataGrid showing a tree-like data structure. How can I, given the index returned by calculateDropIndex, get the item at that index? After reading through reams of code, it seems like the least terrible way is:

The other option seems to be tinkering around with the iterator property... But, judging by the way I've seen it used, that will get pretty harry pretty quickly too. So, how can I get the item at a particular index in an advanced datagrid without going insane?
