and at some event I do:
picture1.source = "assets/bigpicture2.png";
However this results in flex removing the picture, and when it has loaded it will show it again.
How can I make the mx:image make so that it will continue to show the image until the new image has been loaded?
If I create a new ActionScript project with Flash Builder and want to add some library (for example Tweenlite) where do I have to put the gs folder of Tweenlite relative to my project folder? and what do I need to setup in the project settings in order to be able to use it?

For example, we want to manipulate a table in the DB, the most common task is (View/Insert/Update/Delete). And when we have more than 100 fields on the interface, it's rather boring to type them manually in Flex. Is there some ways to generate the Flex Code and the ActionScript functions for managing that.
View 2 RepliesI have a Flash application that creates a sort of powerpoint presentation. All the 'slides' are stored in an XML files which is read and processed.
I'm trying to build the presentation using this XML file. At the moment, my main class has it's initial function main and a static function processXML main initiates my database class with a function called initDB. One of my issues is that initDB forgoes processing because it's dependant on an event listener. On completion of loading the XML files, the event listener initiates my static function on my main to create objects from this file.
The issue is that because the event listener continues the processing (after an indeterminate amount of time), the functions are no longer controlled by the main class.

I have an ArrayCollection we'll call "Items". It is essentially a flat collection of hierarchical data (each item has Parent and Children properties). I want an AdvancedDataGrid to display the data in hierarchical form, so essentially I could just do this and it would display fine:

View 2 RepliesI'm working on a chat application that retreives user profile icons from remote sources (e.g. Blogger, Yahoo, Gravatar, etc). Easy to get the images in a Loader and display them. The problem is that a single thread could have hundreds of records, but probably only 10-20 active commenters. In a standard browser, each <img...> link after the first one is cached, so you only hit the source site once. Is there any way to cache/store/copy those images within Flash to avoid requesting the same image over and over?
I can do it in the Local sandbox by accessing the BitmapData of the loader content and cloning a new bitmap for subsequent instances of the same request URL, but of course once the application moves to the Internet the security system requires a Policy file allowing bitmap access. I don't need to manipulate the bitmap at all, just copy it. Or reference it as content from multiple Sprites, or something along that line. Once I've downloaded the image once, I don't see why the security system would prevent me from displaying it unchanged as many times on the page as needed.

I already use SWFAddress in my project for DeepLinking and I am aware of the ContextMenu class.
I've worked wioth sub classes so I know how they work but I always work with everything all in one folder which can get messsy when there are a lot of classes to work through. So i started to make folders inside of my main folder but it's not working. Thought it may be to do with package names but as far as i know, for the whole "classes in separate folders" things that's how they are supposed to be.

View 0 Repliesi have a Air Project in which i have added three extenal source folders. but when i reopen project or strat flash builder again i get icon on those folder like this but when i open the configuration for that project and try to validate the path and adding it again i get message like this but the path is valid. proof is this pic what could be possible error,,, is there any way that i when ever re-open project i get no warning and able to navigate through the linked source code. now i am doing it
1- deleting on of the linked folder
2- again adding that folder.

From within the library, I need to duplicate a number of movie clips that contain other movieClips, graphics, text fields. The problem is that I can duplicate the container movieclip but instances insice this duplicate continue to reference items in the library.
Effectively defeating the purpose of duplicating it in the first place, because changing the duplicate will modify the original as well as it references the same clips
I am looking for a Flash based image uploader with resize and possibly rotate function. I have checked many possibilities, and the very best in simplicity and unser experience I found is Kroppr at a very affordable €29/license. The downside is, it comes with encrypted PHP code to bind the product to a subdomain. That is understandable, but while I'm perfectly happy to pay money for a tool as great as that, and ready to sign all sorts of legal agreements to protect the license, I am not ready to use encrypted PHP code, especially not from an outlet that doesn't even have a postal address on its web site.Does anybody know an Open Source or commercial solution that comes close to Kroppr and ships with source, or allow for full customization and free definition of the server-side backend?[code]The server side technology would preferably be PHP.

--movie is the navigation menu for few of my website's pages.
--uses gotoAndPlay() to play a different animation (in same movie) for each web page.
Works, but late, movie plays from 1st to 61st frame (on 61st frame there is a code gotoAndPlay(1);) then it moves to actual frame number. In the 1st frame of my movie I insert this actionscript:

I need to find a flash video player that is free and open source. I love flowplayer and jwplayer but we fit into their most expensive licenses. It will cost us over $1400 to license flowplayer for our use. We don't have that right now.

I am attempting to create 360 degree spin-around product viewer. So far I have a movie clip with 24 frames, each one with a different 15 degree angle shot of the product. Upon playback of the movie, the product appears 3D, spinning 360 degrees.
That was the easy part. Now what I need is to be able to click and drag the product to change which view you are seeing (or which frame in the mc you are on) thus producing a spinning effect. How can you code, in AS3.0, that when the mouse is clicked and drug, go to a certain frame based on the current X position of the mouse?
Does Adobe had releases the source code for the components that comes with Flash CS4 (fl.controls.*). If not, is there any way to use the Flash component library with another IDE like FlashDevelop for code and compile the flash applications.

I have a item mc I have duplicated 8 items (indexarray.length) and what my loop currently does is display these 8 blank movieclips on the screen positioned 4 in each row. Inside this blank item mc I have a dynamic text field name_text within this item that call on names from a previously declared array. I also have a empty movieclip called image_holder with property name imageHolder. So far the below displays my 8 items with names but without the image:
