Flex :: Component Getting Items From Array Before Its Needed
Sep 7, 2010
I have an app where a user puts in the required info into text inputs inside a titlewindow pop up and it sends the data entered into a datagrid. This first time when I call for the popup and enter info it works fine. Here's the problem: the next time I call the component pop up and click anywhere on the popup, including textInputs, the first the item in the array is automatically entered into the textInput where the user is supposed to enter the data themselves (BTW this textInput is also a autocomplete component).What I want is nothing to entered into textinput until the user inputs the data themselves. I've been tweaking with it for hours and im stumped. Here's the code: (this is main page)
How can I Access Items Selected in a Component from the Main App I've got a component that has a listControl and a couple of RadioButtonGroups. I need to access the selected items in the main application. What's the best/simplest way to create and access the array of selected items. So, the user clicks the button to confirm the selections and then I need to access those selections in the main app. Is there a way I can use a public var to build the array? Another idea?

I have overcome a problem, but my solution seems really inefficient and clunky. Please consider this problem:
I have an array collection with articles in.
This array collection is filtered to a currently selected article category.
There is a cursor bound to a view that shows the current article. When a category is deleted I need to delete orphened articles, I can't use the cursor or collection without affecting the views as they are bound.
I have an array of items that should be selected in my tree control. As you can see from my code below, I bind this array to the selectedIndices property of the tree. The selected Items are not properly selecting in tree(selecting some other items and always root is selected).Flex seems to "ignore" my items (selects some other indices).
My XMLList:- <fx:Declarations> <!-- Place non-visual elements (e.g., services, value objects) here --> <fx:XMLList id="XMLList"> <node><node name="max"> [Code] .....
I am animating a number of items using the Move effect. I am adding each item to an array after it has been added to the display list and once all items are added calling the play method, passing an array of the items to it. Only the last item plays in my animation.
Here is my code: MXML: s:Move id="coinFall" yFrom="-400" duration="2000" /> public function showCoins(n:Number):void{ holder.removeAllElements(); var targets:Array = []; if (n>=2.5){ [Code] .....
I have an arrayCollection with the following structure:
[Code]...
the AC is defined as follows:[Bindable] private var projectErrorsAC:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection;
I'm using this AC in a repeater to display each error. After each error is shown, I've placed an "Accept" and "Deny" button. Once the user clicks either one of these buttons, I'd like to call a function that removes the particular error from the AC. Here's what I have so far:
I'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
I have a project both Flex and WWW and they are very closely connected. I want to put them both into into one SVN. I want to make revisions for changes that take place exactly both in flex and WWW at the same time. My question is that do I have to stick to "subclipse" (it would desynchronise changes for flex and WWW in one revision)? Would be possible to make revisions using only my tortoiseSVN without subclipse?
I have a mxml component with a datagrid listing project names and code versions. I have the selected projects from the datagrid binded to a public variable named "selectedProjects". But how to access this variable in another mxml component. I want the selected project's name in that component's text area. I even created an instance of the first component and using that called the selectedProjects variable. But I do not get the value updated in the text area.
This is the code for the first component where I get the selected projects name in a variable:
am sending one user object from java to flex using remote object,now i want to get each item from that array to display in text boxes...how can i do this ?
userInfo=event.result as Array; <mx:FormItem label="FirstName" fontWeight="bold" width="325" required="true">[code].....
I am working on trying to collect data within an array (which works) and this data is collected when a button is pressed or selected. I also want the ability to remove an item from the array if the button is pressed again. Currently, I have these buttons dynamically generated and everything works well. The buttons have ids applied to them. SO what I am trying to get working is, if I select button 0, 2, 3 (0 indexing), the data array created holds [A., C., D.]. I want to remove A. after I click button 0. Instead, it seems to cause problems. What I am doing wrong with splicing??? trace statement:
A. items so far selected selected items are: 0 A.,C. items so far selected
I'm so proud of myself. I figured this out all by myself and thought I would share. (If you can't tell, I'm new to AS) I needed a way to grab an item in a specific location and have it return an array of items. Here is how I did it:
We are loading external swf content into an adobe air application. Content is provided by an increasing number of third parties.Being third party content, it will be loaded in a separate security domain (trustContent=false) and a sibling app domain (loadForCompatibility=true). We are doing this using the Loader class.What are the features/options/approaches that would cause problems when using the swf as external content?
I am interested in any kind of issues, as we have already reproduced issues with content that occur regardless of the app domain / security domain where its loaded ( and occurs also in both Loader and SWFLoader).
I'm still learning how to compile with the Flex SDK. And I'm learning how to use SWC files and [EMBED] statements to pull my assets into my application.With the Flash IDE, I can link a library asset to a class and it's automatically embedded into my custom class. So that's 1 asset in 1 class. With the Flex SDK and SWC files, it seems I can only* pull in assets at the variable level, so I end up with my custom classes containing yet another class -- this means I have an extra wrapper/decorator (whatever you want to call it) class that I didn't have when using the Flash IDE.Is this what people typically do? Doesn't that seem superfluous?I've read Colin Moock's 'Essential Actionscript 3.0', where he mentions something about embedding a SWF at class-level as binary data.
Below is a function set that's used to get info from an XML source(s) and populate a List Component (videoList). Works great. The second function loads data from a separate XML source and populates the SAME List Component. When the second function is called it loads the data in addition to the existing data into the List Component. I want it to REPLACE the data. How would I accomplish this?
public function getXMLdata(event:Event):void { var campXML:XML = new XML(xmlLoader.data); var vid:XML; for each(vid in campXML.vid) {
I created an isntant of a list component on stage called "myList" and added 8 items to it.I need to align the labels in this list to the right or center.It's on the main time line and not in a seperate as file (if it matters...).I tried using setStyle but it failed (not the solution or I used it wrong).
I'm having troubles getting selectedItems from a List Component in Flash CS4. Each time I select multiple selections the object that selectedItems returns seems to be populated with the last selected item in each of its instances. What is strange from the example I provide below is that once you've made your selection and click the label you can update another list with the correct selected values. But the output values are still traced incorrectly.
Code: import fl.data.DataProvider; import fl.controls.List; import fl.controls.Button; var dp:DataProvider = new DataProvider(); dp.addItem({label:"Item 1"}); [Code] .....
I have a component "child" which has a cancel button. Now this component is placed in a state called "newChildComp" I also have another component called "parent". In the parent component, i have a button that dispatches an event. Here is the event code:
[Code].....
so, basically,i am checking to see if the cancel button component in the Child component, while i am still in the parent Compoent, was clicked, if it was clicked, call the cancelButtonHandler. The problem is by the time the addNewChild handles the event, that cancel button was still null. My question is how do i solve this without using the itemCreationPolicy on the cancel button?
Does anyone have any knowledge (preferably with links to make it official) about how/if Flash/Flex culls objects not in view, to stop them getting drawn when not needed? A specific cases: I have an 800x600 panel (a Canvas or Sprite, or other container) containing loads of Sprites representing individual game objects like asteroids or spaceships or missiles or map-tiles. The game world might be 5000x5000 so can I naively position Sprites anywhere in this range and let Flash cull them effectively? Or do I need to manage visibility somehow at a higher level (like manually removing them from the parent) to avoid performance issues?
