I am running on Windows XP and recently updated Flash Player from v9 to v10.1. And Now, in the Debug Console under Flex Builder, I am getting a lot of debug statements(I think that is assembly). Below is an example, of what I get:
I am trying to use Flex builder for the first time in years. I haven't used the "Run Application" option before, and when I do that now it tells me "Errors exist in required projects" and whether I should proceed. I would like to debug those errors. Does anyone know how I can do that? PS: When I click the "Debug" button, it does exactly the same thing. I don't see error output in the console views.
I am trying to build a AS3 only project in Flex....I have tried debug mode, but seems like it takes so long to compile....I can't use trace or check variables...Are there anyway to do debug??
I've recently bough Flex Builder 3 and I am completely dissatisfied with its reluctance to debug. It manages to debug a few times, but after that, it just doesn't want to "connect to the debugger".
I've noticed that when debugging using the eclipse flash builder plugin, one cannot drill in to the key set / values of a flash.utils.Dictionary in the Variables view. Even after selecting the "Show Logical Structure" button. Does anyone else run into this issue? Is there anyway I could see the see all of the keys / values when debugging (apart from writing a loop to do this or manually testing possible keys in the Expressions view)?
When I set a breakpoint and debug my application, Flash Builder 4 is not displaying static variables within the variables window. I'm using flash builder 4 to execute flex unit tests on one of my AS3 classes. I set a static variable within the [Before] function, which is accessed in each of the tests. I've set a breakpoint within one of the tests to see why it is failing, but I notice that static variables don't appear when I expand the 'this' object within the variables window. (In this case my static variable is the only variable associated with the class, so the only object in the variables window is the "this" object). How to make static variables appear in the variables window?
I've been working in Flash BUilder 4.0. I installed Flash Builder 4.5, and switched to the workspace I had used for 4.0. Then we were told to go back to 4.0, and now I can't run or debug. I can build, but then I have to double click on the .html file to run. Right clicking doesn't bring up run or debug, and the run and debug icons are not in my toolbar.
Sometimes (too often...) some webservices "hang". I can see the clock cursor in my app and the network monitor of FB2 shows the webservice as "pending". After waiting a long time, the status changes to "OK" and the clock cursor disappears. How can I find out why a webservice takes sometimes minutes while it usually takes not even a second?
My webservices run on my localhost during development using the Zend AMF Server.
I am debugging both a flash cs4 project and a flash builder project, actually the flash builder project will load the flash cs4 project thru swfloader, but the system can only support one debugger at a time. So I am seeking a method to debug it simultaneously...
My project is open - I see the expanded sub-folders. There are not compile errors showing up. Under the project's properties I see Run/Debug Settings but the New button is greyed out.
I have an html file which I want to use every time I debug my flex application. I don't want an new html file to be generated every time. How can I do this?
In my flex 3.5 project, I have a class (MyItem) extending Canvas. In this I have declared a private variable named itemInfo which is type of ItemInfo (which is another subclass of Canvas).
I wrote code to hide/show the iteminfo when the mouse is over/out of MyItem. I am not getting any error but it is not showing the itemInfo as expected, when debugged the code, surprisingly the variables tab in debug window does not have the variable itemInfo at all.
I have declared a dummy:int variable and it is also not visible.
I'm building a video player using Flash CS4 (hereby referred to as "Flash") to create the graphic symbols and compiling and debugging with Flash Builder 4 ("FB4"). Here are the steps I take in my current workflow: --Create the graphic symbols in Flash. I've created a few different symbols for the player, but I'll focus on just the play/pause button ("ppbutton") here. --In the Library panel, I go to the ppbutton symbol's Linkage properties and link to a class named assets.PlayPauseButtonAsset that extends MovieClip. I do not actually have an assets package nor do I have a class file for PlayPauseButtonAsset as Flash will create them for me when I publish.
--In Flash's Publish settings, I set the project to export a SWC that will be used in FB4, called VideoPlayerAssets.swc. --After the SWC is created, I create my FB4 project called "VideoPlayer" and add the SWC to my path. FB4 creates the class VideoPlayer in the default package automatically. --In VideoPlayer.as, I import assets.*, which imports all of the symbol classes I created in Flash and are available via VideoPlayerAssets.swc. I can now instantiate the ppbutton and add to the stage, like this:
Is there any way to get Flex Builder to connect to an existing browser session running Flash Player Debugger? I can connect to FDB like this, but with Builder I need to click Debug and rush to close the newly opened browser window before it loads the Flash file and then go back to the session I want to connect and right click it to start the debugger.
Unfortunately this is not very reliable as I can't always beat the window opening, requiring several attempts before being able to connect to the session I am interested in. If I could just tell Builder 'Start debugging' and then have it wait for the connection, I could now calmly go over to the browser, right click, hit debug, provide the IP and voila. This would allow me to inspect variables on a hard to replicate bug on a session running on a tester's computer.
Is it at all possible to connect the Flash Player debug version to the debugger in Flex Builder using source code? I'm running an app which has no right click menu, and I therefore can't right click and select connect to debugger.
I'm working on an Adobe Flash Builder 4.5 iPad application. I have only a humble 13" MacBook to work with. I am being aggravated by the problem of debugging my application in the Flashbuilder's iPad simulator. The FB simulator screen is almost the same physical size as a real iPad, which is too big to fit on a 13" MacBook. Is there some setting in Flash Builder 4.5 that would scale the iPad simulator to fit the available screen real estate?
I just updated my AIR runtime to 3.0 and noticed that my AIR application doesn't work anymore. So I tried to debug it it with Flash Builder, but when I run it there, everything works just fine. So I uninstalled the AIR runtime completely but noticed that I can execute my AIR app within Flash Builder still just fine. So the AIR runtime used within Flash Builder seems to be a different one than the systemwide installed AIR runtime. How Do I chose within Flash Builder which runtime to use and how do I update this runtime?
I'm building a networked client app with Flash Builder, and would like to be able to set environmental variables or #define's such as server's hostname and port. For debugging purposes I want to connect the client with different servers (and for other devs too). In C/C++ I'd define TEST_PORT=8888 or something in the IDE or build environment, that way I wouldn't need to commit a settings file along with the client. But not sure what's the standard for Flash Builder.
I'm trying to setup my bin-debug folder so that the structure looks like this[code]...
I've tried setting the project's output folder to: bin-debug/assets/swf which does get my main.swf where I want it, but then my other source folders get dumped into that swf folder as well. What I would really like is to tell Flash Builder to put my swf into a nested folder and to be able to specify where my build folders' output goes as well. Is this at all possible without resorting to ANT scripts?
I identify my current installed debug version? Basically, I am using Flex 3, for past 2-3 days whenever I launch any Project or debug it, I get the message box saying "Flex Builder requires a more recent version of Flash Player." It says my curent FP as 9.0.115.0 and debug version as 9.0.45.0. However, my actual FP version if FP 10.0.22.87. I don't understand why this confussion! I don't know how can I know my actual version of Debug player.
I am trying to debug a Flash Web Application using Flash Builder 4. However, I keep getting this error:Unable to connect to the application to fetch profile data. try profiling the application again.I am using Internet Explorer 8 (the same problem also occurs with Internet Explorer 7) with Adobe Flash Player 10.1.102.64 (the Debug Player). In other words, I installed the latest of everything. For my launch configuration, I have used the path to an HTML file. This works fine for debugging but does not seem to work for profiling.
Is is possible to debug actionscript via Flash Builder to see line number where exception happened? Currently i only see error code and description of error.
Im trying to debug an app, not server related yet, with the new version of the FB, the one that comes with Zend in it. Thing is, everytime I try to debug, the message error is the same: "Unrecognized Windows Sockets error: 0: JVM_Bind"
