I understand that the spark framework has a video player and a video display. The difference being that video display doesn't have the video controls.I know that stage video is new in AIR3 and uses hardware acceleration to play videos.My question is, does videodisplay and videoplayer take advantage of stage video out of the box? Do I need to implement it another way?
View 2 RepliesI'm writing a Flex video player with a "slow advance" button, and my first approach is to simply toggle between play() and pause() on a timer. I'd like to say something like
if (video.isPlaying) {
video.pause();
} else {
video.play();
}
But I can't find anything like an 'isPlaying' property.
I have a mp3 that is retrieved from the server via "somepage.php?id=100". When I load this into spark VideoPlayer it doesn't work. But when I copy that URL and put it into the browser URL I get a dialog that asks if I want to download "sound.mp3".

It seems the audio is cued up in order when added to the creation complete meaning that if one audio file is loading another will not start until after the first has completed.
What is technical difference between buffering and loading ? Say, i have a video, which is showing loader bar in progress. Then what's happening exactly ? Buffering or Loading ?

I have a website [URL] when I go there if I click the video archives button then play a video then click on the home or photos button or one of the alternate background buttons on the left the video goes away as it should but not always the audio (especially when I click while the video is still buffering). Is there a command I can use to kill the sound from the flvPlayback component and nothing else(I have a mp3 player there also I so I don't want to use the SoundMatrix class. btw the videos are all played on an instance of the flvPlayback component.
View 7 RepliesI'm new to Flex and currently working on the Video Component in Flex. The problem is:Buffering starts only after the specified time. So, if i have specified the Buffer Time to be 2 s, then the video buffers for sometime, gets the data for the 2s and then plays it and then again buffers. The point is it is not buffering in parallel to playing. Is there any way of making this possible in Flex 3? Or is it already there in newer versions of Flex?

But this does not allow me to go back to normal screen, not even i use:

I need to display Facebook video player in my Flex application. I retrieve URL via FB Graph API to a video being displayed in facebook video player and I pass it to SWFLoader. Unfortunately I have some problems with getting it displayed correctly.Facebook video player is displayed on Facebook site as 720x244 movie. The movie is displayed in the middle of it (320x240) and on the left and the right side there is black background.Is there any way to display central part (movie) only with SWFLoader? I am trying to use Flex Video Display as a preview player. The player is streaming the video from the server.While The buffering is not complete, if we try to drag the play head to an area beyond buffered region, the player will drag the playhead back to the current playing position. I need to implement the player like you tube video player which allows to drag to anywhere in the track even when data is not fully buffered.Is there a way for doing this.
View 1 RepliesI have a video display in my flex app. which is attached to the camera. The camera resolution can vary depending on the user's selection, While the video display (preview) dimensions are fixed. I am then doing this:
bmd.draw(vidDisplay);
Where bmd is the bitmap.. The problem is the resulting bitmap has the correct size of the camera settings (which is set) but the capture from the video is always the size of the video display inside the bitmap.. I hope i am making sense. The result looks like a little picture inside a bigger image top left justified. I want to have a video display preview with fixed height, but be able to take snapshot with varying resolution.
What is the differences in use of these two objects? Which one should be used for a "Youtube-like" video player with a custom skin and playlist?

Recently i have visited so many video enriched flash site like this one [URL] Most of them shows video in full size. I downloaded the video using FF plugin. Video framesize is very small compared to the stage size. When i tried to add video and resize the video acoording to the page size , it slows the browser. I tried to embed the flv inside an swf and loaded the swf using normal loader and plyed it.. but the quallity and performance comapred to these site is very low..

I am using DynamicStream to automatically switch incoming streams to the appropriate bitrate depending on the available bandwidth. I was wondering if there is anyway in which I can instruct the DynamicStream to allow more bandwidth for audio (obviously at the cost of losing some frames from the video).
View 1 RepliesI would like to serve high quality video (H.264) between a server and a single Flash Player client with low latency (RTMFP). The single client will be controlling a robotic device and seeing the results through the video stream, so low latency is important.
Option A: The Flash Player supports low latency streaming of video between two P2P nodes via the RTMFP protocol in Flash Player 10. It uses the Spark codec to encode the video and as far as I know it is not possible to encode using any other codec in the player.
Option B: Flash Media Live Encoder does support live encoding using other codecs (On2 and H.264) but cannot act as an RTMFP peer - this option would require Flash Media Server in the middle.It seems I cannot stream video to a single client over RTMFP with anything other than Spark.

how in Flex can I display a message within a Spark List component that states that the List is empty. For example if I have a List showing number of jobs outstanding, if my List is empty then I want a message displayed across the List stating "there are no jobs to perform".
I'd rather not use an Item Renderer because then it's an Item (the list is not empty) and the item can be selected.
