Each character in my game has a status icon. The image of the icon can be one of a number of images that I embed with the executable. What is the proper structure of such a class? Say the class has the embedded images of a Star, a Square and a Circle, I want the class to display only one of the three shapes at any given moment, but can switch to a different shape as needed.
The class has:
o 10 embedded images
o 1 sprite object
o A public function that allows one of the ten images to be displayed when the sprite object is drawn. inside the class I create an array of 10 images and use addChild for each of them. To display just one, I make the other 9 invisible. What is the proper way of doing this? Should I call keep just one sprite object and call 'new' each time I need to switch the image? is there a way to enumerate the classes so that I can switch by calling something like this:

Is there any way to enumerate the glyphs available in a font? I know you can check if a specific glyph is available via Font.hasGlyphs(), but I'm looking for the opposite direction, something like a enumerateGlyphs() method would do if it existed. Sadly it doesn't seem to. Is there a workaround or known way to determine available glyphs?

View 4 RepliesMy Flex app uses local SharedObjects. There have been incidents of the Flash cookie getting corrupt, for example, due to a plugin crash. In this case SharedObjects.getLocal will throw an exception (#2006).
My client wants the app to recover gracefully: if the cookie is corrupt, I should replace it with an empty one. The problem is, if SharedObject.getLocal doesn't return an instance of SharedObject, I've nothing to call clear() on. How can I delete or replace such a cookie?

View 1 Replieswe have a C++ application that hosts a flex application in a MFC dialog. Everything works fine, all button pushes etc are passed directly on to flex with no problem at all, except the enter and escape keys, which immediately closes the dialog. We can trap the enter key, by implementing PreTranslateMessage() or OnOK() and impede the window closing behavior, but we still have the problem of passing these enter key pushes on to the hosted flex app further. There is no "default" button on the form or anything like that, perhaps MFC is linking the enter key to the close button in the title bar behind the scenes or something. Does anyone have any ideas how we can stop MFC from treating the enter key from being a special case.[code]

I am using grails to render the data as JSON for a flex application using an Advanced Datagrid and need a tree like structure, as if you were browsing files on your desktop.
Within my application I'm using a Scroller component. I can't seem to figure out which event I should set up a listener on in order to know when content is scrolled. I tried Event.CHANGE on Scroller.verticalScrollBar property but apparently that event doesn't fire when the user scrolls with a mouse wheel or arrow keys.

I have searched all of the engines to find out why my SharedObject code is not working. It works when I publish from flash but not when live? I have this code in the first frame and the movie starts on the second. I only want the user to have to view the swf every other time they land on the page containing the movie. I am using AS2.

I have a slideshow that everytime you press a button show a new slide. Every slide is an external swf's that is being loaded in to the main swf. Why am I getting this error, if 'UserName' is the name of the shared object, than why can't I use it to refer to it's methods and other attributes? What is the meaning of it being a 'name' than?
I am working on a project that uses SharedObject and I have a question. I've made a button that downloads a flash screensaver and at the same time also creates a SharedObject which stores a specific id for each screensaver being downloaded. When later the screensaver is installed and run, it should get the SharedObject and read the id from it. When tested locally it works perfect since both the buttons´ and the screensavers´Sharedobject are stored in the same localPath. But when the button is online and the screensaver is local the SharedObject paths don't match.
Is there a way to solve this and make the local screensaver swf read the SharedObject from the same path as the online download button has stored it's SharedObject in?
This is the relevant code in both my swfs:

I have a normal XML menu, when I click in an item open the sub-item, my problem is the following one, when I click in an item DVD he goes to open an sub-item, and later I click en adventure, when I click in adventure I go for the next page, my problem is this, in this new page that I will be, my menu come back to normal the sub-item adventure is not selected in the screen, and I need that be selected, I already I tried to read the SharedObject in the F1, already I tried to find some tutorial to try to understand, but nothing,

got my code working, and all information i enter in to my sharedObjects is working correctly as it should but isn't saving so when I close and then re-open the flash file the data isn't there? Admittedly I'm new to sharedObjects I'm using the [.data.] when entering info and then [.flush()] at the end of the function - is there anything I've missed?
