Recovery - Flex: Recover From A Corrupt Local SharedObject?

Mar 29, 2012

My Flex app uses local SharedObjects. There have been incidents of the Flash cookie getting corrupt, for example, due to a plugin crash. In this case SharedObjects.getLocal will throw an exception (#2006).

My client wants the app to recover gracefully: if the cookie is corrupt, I should replace it with an empty one. The problem is, if SharedObject.getLocal doesn't return an instance of SharedObject, I've nothing to call clear() on. How can I delete or replace such a cookie?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Avoid Showing Local Storage Dialoge Box For SharedObject?

Nov 17, 2010

I'm doing a small webapp where I want to use a fairly small amount of Local Storage for SharedObjects. The challenge is to cater to all visitors, including those that might have turned down their local storage allowance to 0 bytes (inactivated). Now, what happens is that the first flush method call triggers the local storage dialog box.In the case that the user has inactivated local storage, I don't want to ask them to raise it - instead I want to avoid using SharedObjects for the remainder of the session.I haven't found a way to test for the capacity of the local storage. What I can find is the size property of the SharedObject class. This doesn't work however as it only reports a size greater than 0 if there has already been an object written to this application domain.

Actionscript 3 :: When Does Local SharedObject Triggers Event Handlers Added Via AddEventListener

Jan 26, 2012

Could someone explain when does local SharedObject triggers event handlers added via addEventListener?I have tried and it doesn't trigger, after flushing. For example i have two object.swf both in separate browser tabs.I'm adding data inside object.swf on one tab and want event to be triggered in object.swf from another tab.Is it possible with native functionality and without remote type of SharedObject?Ofc i could write infinite loop and check local storage for changes, but it's the last solution i would like to implement.I was reading docs and played with example over there, but it doesn't trigger event, even if it is added before flushing.[code]

Professional :: Possible To Recover Corrupted FLA File?

Nov 16, 2011

I was working on an animation for a project and Flash told me it couldn't save and Save As wasn't working. The program crashed and the file I was working on was corrupted. I doubled my effort on getting back to where I was on my project, being extra careful not to do what caused it to crash before. Unfortunately, fate was not on my side, and it did it again. Obviously I'm screwed, but still I like to keep on to my projects and upload them to megaswf or something to share on facebook. I'm using CS5 btw.

ActionScript 3.0 :: The ABC Data Is Corrupt

May 17, 2010

During runtime of my current project (specifically a papervision2.0 driven nav scene) I occasionally get the following error:

[Code]....

It doesn't necessarily crash anything, but sometimes certain components cease to function. I haven't been able to figure out what is going on, or how to fix it. I have found that it is a known issue: [URL] with the cs3 IDE... but that is what I'm currently stuck with. I am developing in Flashdevelop, using the IDE to hold assets and compile. Wierd thing is I normally only see it on the local standalone 9 player that cs3 outputs to, but I have one box that throws the error from its temp spot on the web. Anyone have experience with this? I have access to a cs5 trial = wondering if compiling with it might solve this issue.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Recover Informations Between Class And MovieClip?

Nov 29, 2009

I have a page (MovieClip) which is charger and have a attribut a matrix (not the class). On this page, there is some cases (MovieClip) which receive value of the matrix.

Each cases are managed by Class. It's a good option, because I can put a listener into the contructor of the class and not having 64 functions if I have 64 cases. This listener allows to change the value of the cases when it clicked.

The problem is that I don't see how to know when a case is clicked in the page for changing the value of the matrix.

Flash 10 :: CS5 Test Movie Bug / Corrupt?

Jan 20, 2011

The first test of any movie, after opening the Flash program (CS5 Pro) will work as expected. However, every test after thereafter will ignore the ActionScript completely and play on a continuos loop. After attempting to debug one of these instances, Flash gives me the error that the movie cannot be debugged because the .SWF contains no ActionScript.(I've tested several movies, with AS as basic as a single stop command and nothing else. I've tested the files on another machine. I've reinstalled Flash. Closing Flash and opening it again provides one more "fresh" test that works as expected. Finally this has not always been the case, the program was working fine for a few months (so I don't think the install CD is corrupt).

ActionScript 3.0 :: Corrupt Image When Uploading?

Aug 9, 2011

I am writing an app for android devices, it uses the CameraRoll class to retreive images from the gallery. It then catches the raw bytearray data and encodes it into a base64 string, then sends the string via httppost to a server that decodes the string and saves the file.Every part of this is fine except one detail, the images are corrupt when they are saved on the server. Except one thing that makes things weirder, when I load these corrupt jpg images into a flash app they work just fine.Previously I have made apps that uses the Camera class to take photos in the app, and this works fine, the reason I am using cameraroll is because I want to be able to get high quality images, which is not possible using the regular camera -> bitmapdata.draw -> jpegencode -> send method. The code is basically thi

Flash Window Is Off The Edge Of The Screen, Unable To Recover

Sep 9, 2008

Using Adobe Flash CS3 on a sometimes dual monitor setup. After attaching back to my docking station, and starting up Flash CS3, the window is off the edge of the right hand monitor somewhere, and I am not sure where. The mouse cursor makes it look like the window is somewhere off the lower right hand corner of the screen somewhere, but even after holding in the left and up arrows for a long time, there is no motion, and the window never appears. I can maximize the program back to my primary monitor, but this is hardly an ideal solution.

I have found the following registry entry, but am unsure if it applies to what I'm having problems with or what the format of the entry is: HKEY_CURRENT_USERAdobeFlash 9SettingsWindow

ActionScript 3.0 :: VerifyError: Error #1107: The ABC Data Is Corrupt, Attempt To Read Out Of Bounds

Aug 23, 2009

Im having a slight of a problem. I've just created a new application but I'm experiencing the following error: VerifyError: Error #1107: The ABC data is corrupt, attempt to read out of bounds. Now I've searched all over the web for a solution and the only thing I found that might solve it was to upgrade my flashplayer? I like to use the standalone player, simply because it launches faster and its easier to see how things are looking.. Currently it launches flash player 9.0.124.0. I've allready installed the newest SDK and selected it for use, but when I launch my project it keeps sending me to the old flashplayer. How can i change the standalone flashplayer that flexbuilder (3.0.2) launches to either the newer flashplayer 9 or flashplayer 10? And can you tell me this is the correct way to deal with the error I'm experiencing or do I need to take another approach? Am I doing something wrong?
