Flex :: Flash - NetStream With GroupSpecifier Not Sending Handler?

I have a simple video/chat application built in FLEX. I've created a groupSpecifier,netGroup and a NetStream for the different functionalities. NetGroup is mainly used for the messaging (Posting) and keeping track of the users who enter.NetStream is (or would be used) to control some functions like "start video, stop video" for everyone under the same group.The most important functions I will post on here. The first is setupGroup.

I started using Adobe Stratus yesterday and made a simple chat application. Today, I was to learn how to use the group feature. But when I try to instantiate a GroupSpecifier variable, I get this error: 1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant: GroupSpecifier. P2P.mxml Earlier I was getting a similar error with NetStream (in place of GroupSpecifier). I have Flex 4.1 and it's set to Flash Player 10.1.

I'm trying to add a custom callback handler to a NetStream client in a p2p application. The problem is, when I add such a handler, the NetStream Client doesn't function as it did before. It seems the NetStream.client object is changed. I know the default object is this. But changing the client to this doesn't solve the problem.The remoteControlStream, is the incoming stream. And the localControl stream is the stream being publishedThis is the localControlStream that's being send by the peer, and received as remoteControlStream:

We are sending a multiple streams from FMLE to FMS, and then playing them with NetStream instances. We could have several streams playing on the same flash canvas. The idea is to use ActionScript to synchronize the playback of these streams using embedded system timecode from FMLE, so all the camera angles are playing at the same place in the stream. However if we use the onFI handler to receive timecode data we see one of the streams reporting valid timecode, and the other seems to get 'stale', reporting the same infoObj.st value for multiple onFI events.
Example: NS2 is great:

All FMLE /FMS instances are configured identically - either stream will decode valid timecode it played on its own - just not while both are running in the same stage!

I import a external SWF into a UILoader, the SWF contains a netStream that I need to close from a Main.swf event handler, slideShow_btn. Basically from Main.swf when/if slideShow_btn event happens I need to check and close the nsStream in videoplayer.swf Here are my event handlers in Main.swf

I'm making a small video players in AS3, and I've found that after calling NetStream.pause() or NetStream.togglePause(), no status messages are being fired any more.If I click the "pause" button while the video is buffering, I never get the Buffer.Full message.Here is some code:

I am using Flex 3 (ActionScript 3.0). I use the HTTP progressive download to play sound files. I want to secure the sound files, by only serving them when the request comes from my flex app. I chose the simplest solution of adding a HTTP header to each request send from the app. But flash.media.Sound object ignores the headers set in flash.net.URLRequest. Here's an example,
URLRequest sndFile = new URLRequest("http://blah.com/media/load_sound.php");
sndFile.requestHeaders = new Array(new URLRequestHeader("req-orgin", "myflexapp"));
Sound snd = new Sound(sndFile);
snd.play();
The value of req-origin comes as null in load_sound.php. When i inspect the request using Firebug, the request headers to [URL] doesn't contain the header.

I am working on an app that will take a snapshot of an rtmp stream of an archived video, save it to a file, and ExternalInterface the file name to the hosting page to javascript it up for display.
I actually have all pieces working great. The only time an error is thrown is when I pause the video, seek to somewhere, and then try to take a snapshot. Then there is a runtime error of:
SecurityError: Error #2123: Security sandbox violation: BitmapData.draw: mySwf.swf cannot access rtmp://myFlashServer/myApp. No policy files granted access.I've seen post after post of suggestions and have tried them, but without success.
I have the crossdomain.xml and my FlashMediaServer security setup fine (it is actually working, except for this one glitch). It just seems to be the pause-then-seek-then-BitMapData.draw() combination which is creating issues.
Another weird thing: after the error is thrown, if I resume the stream and take a snapshot, it works flawlessly again.

I'm trying to use e4x to retrieve xml from the result event thrown when my Flex webservice is successful.
This is a snippet of the returned xml

I want to create a collection containing a list of the 40 room objects based on the xml above.
How can I map the objects from my xml to an object using e4x?

I want to extend my function to a better design to where I can pass a canvas object into so I don't have to write N functions.. I'm trying to put a label and an image on a UIComponent, side-by-side. I want to use UIComponent for efficiency reasons, and the entire component is more complicated than just a button with an icon.
I'm trying to get a click handler on ther entire UIComponent so that when a click happens on either the label or the image, the same [click] event handler is called. If I add a click handler on the root component, it works, but when I introduce space between the label and the image, the space between them becomes un-clickable. I produce the space by using the move(x,y) method for the label and the image with a small gap between the x/y coordinates.

my flex application sends a few concurent requests on startup. Sometimes it takes a lot of time to fetch them all so I've set them requestTimeout param to 5 secs. Additionally, I've defined a method that handles fault events. I'd like to resend a request when timeout occurs.It doesn't work though. Could you take a look at the code?

I'm loading some images from a database using a PHP script through CodeIgniter, but when I try to add an event handler to do some stuff with these images, Flex compiler is showing me an error:1180: Call to a possibly undefined method cloneCar.Why I can not add an event handler in this context?

I have an issue in handling the F5(Refresh) option in IE8 using FLEX. As i got some code by surfing..which is as follows

The main intention of the code is to handle F5(refresh) event. It works fine in Mozilla, GoogleChrome but not in IE8. When i execute the code in IE8 before the event handle by the FLEX the browser is handling the event.

My app has a datagrid as well as many other UIComponents (buttons, menus, etc). I have a general stage KeyDown handler as well as a specific one for the datagrid. The behavior I'm trying to implement is turning out to be trickier than I thought: basically, when using the keyboard arrows I would like the datagrid to always hear about such commands, even if it's not in focus.
Possible approaches I thought of:have the DG be in focus at all times: seems stupid / tricky - basically would need to remember to give focus back to DG after any interaction with the rest of the UI, which obviously doesn't scale.try to set the DG in focus from stage KeyDown handler: seems like the timing doesn't work since the DG gets focus too late to "hear" the event.from the stage keydown handler, check if the DG is not in focus, and if so pass it the event. This seems to make sense in theory, but I'm not sure how to do this properly since my stage keyDown handler uses capture, and thus seems to catch the same event over and over.

In a Flex NetStatusEvent of type NetGroup.MulticastStream.PublishNotify, you get the String name of the stream in e.info.name
The name is what the publisher specified in the .publish ("") method. But in a NetStatusEvent of type NetStream.Connect.Success, there is no such property. Instead, the whole NetStream object is available through e.info.stream
How the heck to you get something as basic as the name from the NetStream object? e.info.stream.name does not exist. I must be overlooking something very simple.

I'm creating a video chat app using Flash Media Server 4 and Flex, using RTMFP for peer-to-peer.No matter what I try, I cannot mute a user's NetStream. I tried receiveAudio(false) and that does not work. I tried capturing the stream SoundTransform and setting the volume of that to 0, that does not work.I tried setting the mx VideoDisplay volume to 0 and that does not work.I can set the alpha of the VideoDisplay, so its really strange that I cannot set the volume.BTW, I am not trying to mute the mic of the user who launched the app, that I can do. I'm trying to mute one of the other users stream in the Flex app, that way the app makes it possible to not hear people who are perhaps being offensive.

I am new to Flex. What I am looking for here is adding a click handler on all the items created by a SkinnableDataContainer. I tried several things that didn't work, and I have no idea what is the right way to do it.

I have some images I would like to display in TileList in Flex. My TileList dimensions are 2 columns by n rows.
