Flex :: Float - 4: While In A Vgroup - Add A Moveable Element That Won't Be Part Of The Vgroup?

I created several components that are placed inside a VGroup. in one of the components code, i want to add an image and to move it. i don't want the image to be part of the vgroup and to be bound to the vgroup area, i want it to be like float in css. how can I do that?
update I want to be able to move the element in the entire area of the application. not to move it within the vgroup. i don't want this object to be attached to any container besides the main application window in order for me not to have limits how much can i move it and where.

When adding/removing elements to/from a VGroup I need it to happen smoothly, resize the item. I believe I have to use transition effects. But how?
At item (element) level? At VGroup level? Should I use a DataGroup instead and do it at ItemRenderer level?
I've been trying to do it at item level but I still didn't manage to make it work and somehow it doesn't feel right. It feels like it should be done at a higher level.
For example, I defined a "death" state which resizes the item to height=0. But then, after it shrunk, it has to somehow notify VGroup in order for it to be removed or remove itself from VGroup. It feels unnecessarily complicated.
way to associate an effect to inserting and removing items from a VGroup?

Is it possible to use a VGroup as a drop target in flex? I like the functionality of a vgroup (adding elements easily, etc) but I haven't found a way to get it to register when things are dropped on it.

I got a component made with an spark Group for a survey, inside of it I have an algorithm that create the questions putting RadioButtons inside of a VGroup(dynamically).The problem is that sometimes when I call the next question, I couldn't find why, they are not drawn unless I click the right mouse button so it appears normally.

So, when I run the application and I move through the questions, sometimes, the question is not drawn (exemple: I'm at question 2 and I move to the third question and it's blank, but if i press the right button in my mouse the question suddenly appears. I have a code similar to this:

I want that the s:VGroup container has the height only of its visible children. In this example there is a free space even the visibility mx:HorizontalList is set to false. Every time I change the visibility of the child element I want that the parent (s:VGroup) will change his height. How to do this in flex?

I don't understand why the following does not work:
Pushing the Button resizes the photoCanvas's height (gets taller or smaller). Since the photoCanvas control is a child element of the VGroup shouldn't the container update itself to the new height? The Vgroup has ALWAYS the same height, no matter what the (total) height of the children is! I would like the VGroup to adjust itself and get a height value equal to the sum of its children heights. Is this not possible??

I have a popup window. In that popup window, when a user clicks a button and moves out of the popup window, the event should stop. How can I achieve this in flex?
Simply to say, if a mouse moves from the title window or any other container to the outside of the window or component, I want to listen to that event.
I tried with focus out but that fires only when user clicks or changes the component. I also tried with the mouse out event, it also didn't work for me.
how to listen for the event when a user moves a mouse from inside a component to the outside of the component?

Take a look at this demo, how do they accomplish the Inline Changes feature? To me it looks like they are floating a movieclip over the textarea. What I can't figure out is how they anchored the movieclip to stay in the correct position. If you type something before the movieclip it moves position along with the text, the movieclips even move to the next line when the text word wraps. Does anyone have an idea?

I'm trying to convert the byteArray of a Sound Object to an array with floats. The Sound Object plays back fine & at full length, but the float Array i get from it is cut off (but sounds correct), so i must be doing something wrong in the conversion:[code]The top two channels are the original Sound Object.The lower two is the float Array Data. I aligned them so you can see that the beginning is cut off and obviously the length is incorrect.

I have an MC that is a giant text box that contains 20different items laid out vertically, like this for example:ABCDEetcI want to make the list infinitely moveable/draggabl on itsy position, meaning the user can drag this list up and down but thelist never ends.....In other words when the user drags to the lastitem in the list, the list, the list starts over again. And thesame works in the reverse; if the user is dragging up and gets tothe first item, the last item pops up after and then goes inreverse. In other words no ending. I'm having trouble figuring out how to make a static mask with dynamic content (as in a picture you can zoom/pan) in ActionScript. I've seen a lot of the opposite (see here), where you have static content (like an image) and a dynamic mask on top that you can manipulate. I would like to do the opposite - have a static mask (set at some size at some area) with dynamic content underneath. So for example, a user could zoom in/drag around some content, and the display size wouldn't change, while the content would move. You could imagine Google Maps being confined to a smaller square and being able to zoom in/manipulate the map through that square, and have whitespace outside of that square.

I have an elearning course that I make flash lessons for and, surprise!!! I am new with AS3. I use a moveable/clickable seekbar in the lessons that scrubs the main timeline. The problem I am having is that I am not able to put my script into custom classes due to my skill level, so I put my AS3 code into the timeline as I do my timeline animations. AS3 code only runs when the first frame is entered, if that frame is skipped with the seek bar then that code is not ran. I have AS3 code that runs my template controls - seek/scrubber bar, volume, mute etc. that loads on first frame of project after preloader, but I use AS3 code throughout the timeline for some tweens, user interactions, links etc.. How can I combine usage of the seek/scrub bar with AS3 code in the timeline?

I know that there is no such function as getElementByName in Flex but I also now that you can do this["object_id"] to get the element of the application u're in.What about getting an element inside another element?I've tried making element["id"] ? But in my try-catch it always runs the "catch" part..how do I get an element inside another element just having it's id in dynamically created string form?

I have flash where there is a link for song download. And, at the bottom of the flash I've a count, loaded thorugh flash vars which should increment everytime donload button is hit. Please let me know what approach should i take to do that. can i call a Java method on donload button which will insert a row in the table and and then get the count and render it to the count variable in my flash?

Basically I have 14 text boxes, each box draws its content from an external txt file. Next to each text box is a button.
