Flex :: Make "package Explorer" Display Paths?
Aug 9, 2011I could swear at one point I had found an option to have the package explorer show paths of the files, but, I can not find this option anywhere.
Did I dream this one up?

Does anyone know if there is a way to make the new Package Explorer window in Flash Builder emulate Flex Builders 'Flex navigator' window?
Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
i would like to make my code easier to read by replacing long paths with variables, or something similar. in my code, i can target an instance many times, but the instance can have a lengthy path deep within the display list. for example: myButton instance could be located at myButtonsPanel.section2.redArea.myButton, or something like that. is it possible to substitue this long path as a variable or constant? something like: var myPath = myButtonsPanel.section2.redArea; therefore, calling the instance would be: myPath.myButton;

View 2 RepliesThis is with Flexbuilder 3.2, Eclipse 3.3.2.I am moving my development environment to a new machine. Actionscript classes that compiled in the old environment now get a compile error:
A file found in a source-path must have an externally visible definition. If a definition in the file is meant to be externally visible, please put the definition in a package.I do declare the package in these classes - I think failure to declare the package is the usual reason for this error.To add to the mystery, many classes in this project compile without errors.
Does anyone know if there is some kind of program that can convert the XML paths to Flash paths. Hmm...what I'm after is some little program that basically lets me open up an XML file, point on a node or attribute and the program will the flashpath to this node/attribute, where the path is something like: his.firstchild.childnode[2].attribute.jadajada

View 3 RepliesMy situation is this I have 4 movies which load each other, meaning: movie1.swf loads movie2.swf which loads movie3.swf which loads movie4.swf movie3.swf communicates with movie2.swf though the _parent path and it works. but i can't seem to make movie2.swf communicate with movie3.swf since movie2 is _parent i assumed movie3 is a _child...but it does not work so my question is what do i replace _child with?
PHP Code: _child.mc.gotoAndStop("subM" + no); ps: would apreciate it if u could tell me a bit about levels ex: _level10/_level0 what do they mean and how can i tell on what level i have something
I need to know how I can parse a variable path in Flex 3 & e4X. For example, I have two XML strings where the name of one element is the only difference.

Internet Explorer will not display flash video in stand alone video players, similar to the one at: [URL] The other embedded flash content is viewable.In the IE8 tools, manage add on's, Adobe Flash Player is not listed.I've also noticed that when I access the Adobe Flash Settings manager, I can not uncheck "hardware acceleration".Windows XP Home Service Pack 2 is the operating system.
View 4 RepliesI'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?
View 1 RepliesI have an AdvancedDataGrid with a custom label function whose value can change based on other form status (specifically, there's a drop down to choose the time display format for some columns).Right now, I have this labelFunction:
internal function formatColumnTime(item: Object, column: AdvancedDataGridColumn): String {
var seconds: Number = item[column.dataField];
return timeFormat.selectedItem.labelFunction(seconds);
}
[code]....
... and the timeFormat object is a combo box with items whose labelFunction attributes are formatTimeAsFractions and formatTimeAsInterval.The columns that have time formats have formatColumnTime as their labelFunction value, because extracting the seconds in that function and passing it in to the formatters made for a more testable app (IMHO).
when the timeFormat.selectedItem value changes, I want to force my grid to re-calculate the labels of these colums. What method must I call on it? invalidateProperties() didn't work, so that's out.
For some reason I cannot catch the Ctrl + Z keyDown event in my Flex application when it runs in IE. It works fine in FF/Chrome/Safari.
I have a simple Group control where I listen for keyDown and try implement my own Undo logic. I need to catch Ctrl + Z because any other key combination would feel unnatural to most users.
I have a textfield in flex with a focusOut event on it. I can type in the box and in Firefox and Chrome when I click elsewhere on the page (outside the flash element) the focusOut event will be triggered. However in IE8, the texfield never loses focus when you click elsewhere on the page, outside the flash object. I've tried with focusManager.browserMode set to true and false with no difference (I believe that effects incoming focus anyway).
View 1 RepliesCan someone tell me if its possible to create relative as opposed to absolute paths to swcs in module dependencies for Flex or actionscript modules?In Flex Builder i would simply edit the swc path as'../lib/.swc..But there doesn't seem to be a way to edit the path in IntelliJ once you've defined it.
View 1 RepliesI am working on AS3 and I have a created a button class which have an off state and on state. I did the class and it works fine, but i need a little fine tuning. Right now I am polling the button state from the root(main timeline) by checking a boolean property in the button class. I feel it is quite inefficient to check the button state on every enterFrame event of the main timeline. Rather I would prefer the button to tell the root time line by invoking a function written in the root, whenever a state change occurs. t should be cleaner , right?? But when I try to access a function in the root which goes like this

View 6 RepliesI'm running into this weird thing with ASDoc. It will only document one package function per package.For example.I have these two functions:
gs.util.printf
gs.util.ftrace
In these files:
gs/util/printf.as
gs/util/ftrace.as
The only function that get's documented in ASDocs is "printf". But I know it can do more than one. As an example, in the livedocs [URL] There are more than one functions documented.
Why is the below code not working on IE.

<mx:Application

layout="absolute"
width="300"
height="100"

View 1 Repliesuse the mxmlc task of the Flex Ant tasks with a user-definable list of source path or library paths? The idea is that the user can define an arbitrary list of source paths and/or library (swc) paths into an Ant properties file and the build file takes these values and evaluates them for use in the mxmlc task. Just wondering if there are any tricks (maybe utilizing filtering/string replacing) to get this working?

Is there any way to open a folder in Windows Explorer from Adobe AIR?
It looks like these APIs won't be added until AIR 2.0, but until then are there any workarounds that can be used to enable this feature?
I'd like my users to be able to easily navigate their files, which live on my server. Is there an obvious / built in way to build the front end for this in Flex? My ideal scenario would be to have something that looks like the local file browser - but I'm pretty sure that's not an option (although I'd love to be wrong)
View 2 RepliesMy application pops up help windows outside of flex on several occasions. I need to warn the user to allow pop ups from my app if they have the pop-up blocker on. View 3 RepliesI have a flex application that when i update on the server i can see the changes in both firefox and and chrome but I.E continues to show the application before the change... Has anyone else had this problem before with Internet Explorer?
View 2 Repliesjust started out using flex (man it rocks compared to cs4! wish i had switched earlier).I have two questions that i can't seem to find the answers to
1) how do i configure flex to publish to firefox rather than internet explorer?
2) is it possible to publish to the standalone flash player without bothering with a browser ...as you can do in the Flash IDE ?
I realize this is probably a simple question but my google-fu is failing me. I would like to get a windows explorer like file browser to popup when I click a button to select images to upload to my AIR application.However I cannot find a component that handles File exploring. Does anyone know what to use?
View 1 RepliesI created the page in FLEX, but i have problem with scroller (the page content) and the bottom status bar from IE/firefox. They are easily overlapping each other (with statusbar in the front - hiding the content of the page) - is there any way to read the height of these elements regardles of the browser (to change 'paddingbottom' accordingly ) ? (I know that disabling them is prohibited from security reasons).
