I have a custom file type that I'm reading from and writing to within an AIR application. The file type is XML based but contains encoded data for an image. I've already defined the file type in my application manifest file using the tag which assigns a custom icon to the file.
What I'm trying to figure out is whether it's possible to set the icon for each individual file to be a preview of the image contained within.
Trying to set the up and down state icons of a Flex Combobox to images. I see the property for changing the color of the icon, but no property to skin it. How can I do this?

I have made a custom icon for flash googlemaps; however, now the infowindow does not line up with the marker as it does with the default marker; my custom marker, mc_marker, is positioned with the 'point' at (0,0); I have been unable to find any rules for creating custom markers ... seems like a no-brainer;
View 4 RepliesI'm quite comfortable with hiding the mouse cursor and putting a movie clip in it's place - although the trouble starts when I try to tell it to load another movie when the mouse is clicked - then once realeased going back to the original movie clip !I have attached a FLA i've been working with - this is what i'm aiming for without the hotspot_mc - I would like the mouse to work the same across the whole page and be able to click on buttons etc, like a normal mouse click would !
View 2 RepliesI want to develop custom components (that show up in the Components panel) which a Flash designer can drag onto the stage and use the Component Inspector to customize it to their liking (inspectable parameters, I believe they are called). I'd also ideally like to implement a Live Preview so they can see their adjustments live on the design stage.
Does anyone know a good resource for learning the correct way to do this? I've found one that used to work in CS3 but now that I am on CS5 it isn't happening for me: [URL]. There's also the "official" Adobe blog post, I think the previously mentioned article gives it an appropriate shout-out for being "long and cumbersome". It seems that this should be a pretty popular technique.
Is it possible to publish my .fla file to .exe without the File menu and the default Flash icon and Flash tile appearing.

The difference here are two things, the earlier error is while converting flash event to custom event and now this one is while converting custom event to flash event and secondly, I have no clue why it is trying to convert to the mouseevent where I am just dispatching my custom event with proper listeners.

I'm having some trouble with getURL (I think). It works fine when I preview with Flash's html preview but it's not working on my server. It's pretty simple. [URL].selected1 is a user-defined variable pointing to a page: ie, when the user selects variable page1 the page to be opened is [URL]. Like I said, it works with Flash's preview, but not on my server(no 404 or any response). Does there seem to be a problem with my code or might I be overlooking a server error? Here's my code:

So question is how do I access that button's properties. I want when something happens in Xyz file, button's (someId) visibility to become false. If Abc.mxml was AS class file then it would be easy, just make object etc., but how to get if it's mxml file.
I have an FLA file and movie and wish to upload the movie file to a server. However, when I click File | Preview in HTML the HTML file fails to generate (I see only the background colour of my FLA in my browser).

I am working a video in Flash CS5 that is roughly 11 minutes long.
I am at the 6 minute mark at the moment and whenever I want to preview the latest changes I click F12 to I press 'alt+enter'. The problem is I have to watch 6 minutes of the SWF to eventually get to the latest part I edited.
This is slowing me down tremendously and I would hate to still be doing this when I am 10 minutes into the video!
Is there a more efficient way to preview?
Perhaps open it in a player that has some proper controls? or even if I could select the starting point of the preview?
If I press 'enter' I see a preview but the sound file does not play so that option is out too.
I am loading the data externally from xml and displaying in a datagrid. I have 2 buttons addRow and deleteRow. My datagrid headertext names are "name" "age" "rollno" "image", where image also will be loading externally thru an xml file. now when i am pressing the deleteRow button, whole row is getting deleted but an image icon is still appearing under "image" headertext. It was not an actual image but a blank image icon kind of thing is appearing, how to remove the icon. i want my whole row to be deleted. but its not happening.
View 1 RepliesI published an app to Air 2.5 (.air) from Adobe Flash CS 5 and afterwards also to Air Android (.apk) Since then I receive this error message if I try to publish as .air again:
Error creating files. Icon file is missing.
I tried to delete and recreate the folder and pathes but the error still appears.
Does anyone know what criterea Flash uses for discovering the Live Preview class for a Component? Background We are attempting to automate the creation of a SWC that contains a component to be used from Flash. We are able to make it visible to flash by modifying the manifest.xml and wiring up the component definitions. However, the component cannot be dragged onto the stage (or library), presumably because it has no form of LivePreview. To give better clarification of where we are coming from, we've noticed the following in SWCs exported from Flash (using swfdump):
fl.livepreview.LivePreviewParent contains the same mod attribute as the visual component in the manifest.xml file fl.livepreview.LivePreviewParent is exported as a symbol The short-named component (ie. no package, referenced in the components definition in the manifest.xml) is exported as a symbol However, I can see no other differences between that and the SWC from Flex. We can obviously use JSFL to perform the task, but we'd rather not install Flash on the build server.
i made a simple nav bar with a dropdown menu it works fine in flash mode and preview but when i try to embed into html it only show the nav bar but not the dropdown menu.

I am writing to a text file via FileStream, and it writes just fine when I do a publish preview (control + Enter), but when I publish it as a projector and run the exe, it does not work.
My publish settings are set to
Player: Adobe AIR 1.5
Script: ActionScript 3.0
right-click on a Windows folder, as an example, and to change its icon. Right-clicking on the .exe projector file icon doesn't bring up any such option. Can this icon be changed through ActionScript somehow?
View 1 RepliesI have a flash template that I am working on, and have customized it via the XML files. It's an AS3 template. I also have a Flash poll script that I am attempting to integrate into the template. This is where it gets a bit tricky...I have decided to use a modal window (which supports swf files) to open the poll that I am using. If it were as simple as to load the swf file, I would be fine, but the poll also includes XML and PHP files, which I don't know what to do with.
The files included are: preview.swf, preview.fla, the xml file, config.php, edit.php, index.php and then "caurina" and documentation files. What I'm thinking I need to do is include the preview.swf file into my modal window, but I'm not sure what to do with the rest of these files, do they go into a new folder in the main template folder or what?
I am having a very difficult time trying to setup and flash file that has a scrolling menu (mouse movement scrolls the menu up or down). This menu can expand to menu & submenu and it is working fine. What I need is to make an AS file that can load images to a preview window inside the same fla file.

However I only want to show one column (maybe name or id of the record)? Is there a way to achieve this? Also, could I show an icon or image instead of the record while dragging.
