Sep 9, 2010I'm porting in an .flv to Flash for the first time. I created the .flv from an .MP4 using Media Encoder CS5, and then opened a new Actionscript 3 .fla in Flash Professional CS5, clicked File > Import > Import Video. Then selected 'Load external video with playback component'. Everything seems to have imported fine, but when I publish the SWF and import it via Dreamweaver CS5 and preview the page, the video is there, but the controls are not. There's just a white box where the controls should be. Also, the video is out of sync with the audio, which I believe is a problem with Media Encoder, not Flash.

Mar 9, 2010I've recently purchased a flash xml site, which at first seems pretty easy to play with, but ends up being a pain to customize.I'd like to embed a video in one of the pages of the site instead of text, but I'm not sure how to do that given the fact that the site uses an XML file to populate the text.

May 8, 2009I've purchased a flash template with an xml file that gives the path to the content to the .swf. This much i know! Also, I have all the source files! My issue is i would like to replace some of the images with video clips.

As you can see with the flash site there are 4 sides, i would like to add videos thumbs (these i can make screen shots) on the left hand side that says "BEDROOM". Then once you've clicked the video thumb the video is displayed in the middle like the photos. Do i have to alter the original .FLA file to add .mov or other video formats into the center area that displays the full image of the small thumbs? the size is 788px by 524px.
Furthermore, Scrolling half way down the xml page you will find [I]<page name="GALLERY">[/I] and then <image imageUrl="_pic3.jpg" link="http://www.yourcompany.com"/> is there xml code that i can add to put in the video?
Also, here i can change the photos but it seems only in this exact order. If i remove a line or add more photos to the sequence the order does not correspond when i refresh the .swf file.

May 27, 2010I'm trying to find something that will let users upload multiple files to a website. The requirements are that it let them easily select multiple files (preferably with something like check boxes) and that it displays a preview of the images they select.
I'd prefer to only use Javascript or Flash if possible, but Java is also an option (this needs to work on platforms where Silverlight isn't available). So far all I've been able to find are things that use the native file selector (which doesn't show previews on Windows, and makes it unclear that you can select multiple by holding ctrl). I'm not sure if the preview requirement is even possible, but it's the most important.

Apr 3, 2011This has me stumped and frustrated! I have some simple bitmaps that I've masked with graphics. When I use the playhead to watch the movie, it looks fine. When I preview or publish, the masked images are missing completely. What could I be doing wrong? A couple additional notes - the layer with the graphic (symbol) is rotated and the layer above it (mask) is also rotated at an angle. I don't see how that should matter at all...

Aug 4, 2011I want to be able to display a paragraph where if the text being shown is (say) over 15 lines long, then a link text will appear and if click it will expand.
Example:
This is a long line for here so I need to make more display but I cant so what will (More)... <== this more link will be clicked and the rest will show up below this paragraph expanded to show the rest of it. (Close)... <== this close link will be clicked and the rest of the page will be hidden again.

How To Edit A Template
Aug 5, 2011I have a IT background and have been able to alter most of the template by myself to the design I would prefer my website to have. However I have hit a snag, it looks like part of the flash website design is controlled by bitmap images therefore I concluded those images were under the sources within the PSD folder. I tried creating a PNG file and double clicking the relevant bitmap and then updating it with the new file. However after I perform a publish preview the the change made no impact to the design.

1) I just bought this flash template (URL...) and I need to edit it. Rewriting the text is easy, I just rewrite it in XML files, but I cant figure out how to change the font, font color and font size. Could somebody tell me how to do it?
2) I also bought this template (URL...) and I cant figure out how to edit name in the header and text in the top menu. I really cant find it anywhere (I dont see it in Adobe Flash and I dont see any jpeg or PSD file in the flash directory...)

Nov 12, 2009I don't know why this is so difficult, but I'm unable to embed a swf generated in flash into a dreamweaver template. I can finally create a few basic animations and want to test them out in the dreamweaver envoirment. What is the simplest path to accomplishing this? For example if I open flash, create a simple animation, like a ball moving across the screen. If I save that SWF, what's the next step after opening dreamweaver. I just want to be able to test it the site with dreamweaver or see it "live".

Mar 10, 2010I downloaded a flash template for a website and it includes a looping .wav soundclip that starts automatically when the page is loaded. There is an ON/OFF button that stops it, then starts it again.What I want to do is change the soundclip to a soundclip of my own. The instructions that came with the template say that to change the music, all I need to do is change the sound_Bar movie clip.
When I double click the sound_Bar movie clip, and select the "music" layer in the timeline, in the properties tab I see the following options:
Name: OLDclip.wav
Effect: -- (blank)
Sync: -- (blank)
Loop
I've imported my custom sound to the library, but when I select it, the values change to this:
Name: NEWclip.wav
Effect: -- (blank)
Sync: Event (<-- I can't change this back to being blank)
Loop
Anyways, what happens when I change the clip is that when I click the OFF button, the sound does not stop. Then if I click the button again to turn it ON, it starts the clip again, but overtop of the one that's already playing.Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? I don't really know too much about flash, that's why I bought the template pre-made...so far I've been able to edit everything else, and the music seems to be the last step but is giving me the most problems.

Sep 21, 2009I've set up an application to print the current state of the control I'm using (in this case an ArcGIS server map), but I'd like to set up a print function that uses it's own template to print rather than grabbing the state of the application.
I've attempted to do this by setting up a flex component that lays out the items I want to print and instantiating it when I call the FlexPrintJob. Unfortunately, simply instantiating it results in getting a blank green square.
There are two main questions about this that I'd like to put out there. First, what needs to be done to print a newly instantiated template rather than just grabbing already existing controls from the screen? Second, for more controls that need to load complicated data from multiple sources, like an ArcGIS map, is it possible to instantiate them in that kind of environment, or is there a way to take an image of the control in the application and print that?
Flash :: Bundle Our Template Into One SWC?
Feb 24, 2011I am building an application template in FlashDevelop/Flash, to be used as the template for all our future projects. In a swc-free world, the template has a bunch of library symbols and a whole package of classes in the /lib/ folder that run the whole thing.
What I would like to do, is package all that up into a single swc, so the team can checkout the latest build of the swc from svn at the start of a project, put it in the /lib/ folder and forget about it.
However, all attempts to do this have failed so far. Is it even possible to put everything into one swc?

Nov 26, 2009I am not an AS3 guru but recently I started learning AS3 and write code to build a website for my digital photography content.Of course, you can argue, why not get a ready-to-use template and go from there. However, I wanted a website with flexibility and tailored to my needs and one that can be easily updated and scalable.The question I have is in regards to the design patterns in AS3. I have created several classes that create for example photo galleries, and then use photo viewer class to display photos, etc.However, as the code is growing and more and more instances of different objects appear within my code all over the place i am starting to loose track of how to communicate between objects and what would be the best practices for building a photography website.I read about Factory Method Pattern and Singleton Pattern as well as MVC, and seems like MVS Pattern would offer the best way i could build the website.

IDE :: Adding Button To Template?
Sep 23, 2009i've got problem with adding a button to a template, so by default there are 4 buttons.i've localized in source move clip with buttons and animation, i've copied one of them and pasted, then i've changed the name from item for to item5. the data for buttons and web pages displayed by them are from the xml file, which code i attach. the problem is that even if i added 5 section [with the number 5 in systemOrder) the webpage doesn't display this content correctly, sometimes taking the value of previous button and sometimes showing just main frame, and instead of elements and texts from xml it shows "Undefined". I've search all the source using movie explorer and i havent found anywhere else connections with item4 / item5.

IDE :: Can't Change Tab Names In Template?
Oct 22, 2009Im a relative novice in Flash and Im used to working in CS3. However, I am trying out CS4 to do a change a template that a client bought. Everything is going smoothly for the most part.However, I am not able to change the tab names on the template that she wants. I expected for the text to be on its own layers as seperate rollovers, but I guess somehow they are nested within the button shapes and I cannot locate them. I've been trying to change them for the past 2 days and I have had no luck thus far.I know you guys are some of the best when it comes to Flash. Here is the working template and what I have done thus far. I was able to change the girl's eye color from blue to dark brown and change the default title that came with the template to the name of her business:

Flash 8 :: Template Plays On PC But Not On Server?
Apr 16, 2009I tried to search but was unable to find. Just to see if I was publishing incorrectly I took a stock flash 8 template and uploaded it to my server putting all files and directories exactly as they were on the local version. Same result as my published version. Works perfect on my pc when I click the index.html file. All loads smoothly and template works perfectly.But when I load the same template onto the server via filezilla (all loads fine and the file sizes appear to all be correct). All I get is blank page on screen and says done in bottom of page. (Mozilla)SO, on IE I get page error and nothing loads. On mozilla I get nothing at all just blank page and at the bottom it says done?
So I guess what I am asking is: Is there something that I am missing when uploading a flash8 template straight out of the box. No edits no changes just upload to see how it looks from the server?NOTE: On same server I loaded a FULL FLASH template that I even made some edits on and loaded it partially finished and it worked fine. The other template in question is a flash banner template I tried from the free downloads section of template monster (Its the one with the green apple split into sections and stacked off center) couldnt find a name for it or template number
Editing Existing Flash Web Template
Jun 23, 2009Immediately after finding out I was laid off I began to try and increase my online presence by building a webpage.I found a flash web template that I was able to highly customize however I can't figure out how to add additional hyperlinks, images, etc. This crosses the line between dreamweaver and flash. The flash file is a complied file that flash creates and I can only edit it if I have all the original files (kinda, there are other ways around that). Anyways, I have all the files, I think however I still can't seem to figure it out.
I would like to add additional images, hyperlinks, and maybe even move some stuff around however it seems like everything is either locked down of difficult to modify. I have looked around online for some good tutorials however I can't seem to find any that match what I'm trying to do. Would it be best to try and build the hyperlinks in flash or should I do that in dreamweaver? Dreamweaver I'm guessing, however since I'm editing the site via .xml the insert hyperlink capabilities within dreamweaver are not enabled unless I'm directly editing the index.html. By the way, I'm using CS4 Flash and Dreamweaver. [URL].
