How To Edit A Template

I have a IT background and have been able to alter most of the template by myself to the design I would prefer my website to have. However I have hit a snag, it looks like part of the flash website design is controlled by bitmap images therefore I concluded those images were under the sources within the PSD folder. I tried creating a PNG file and double clicking the relevant bitmap and then updating it with the new file. However after I perform a publish preview the the change made no impact to the design.

If you make multiple flash files from the same template and then edit that template, will all those files have those same changes? If not, is there a way to make the same change on multiple files at once? Basically the same idea as linking HTML files to a single CSS file...

I am new to flash and I am trying to create my first flash site using a template that I have downloaded. I can edit the first page fine, but when I click the "about us" or any other section, the standard template text, Which isn't even in english, appears. I believe that these are psd files, and I have tried to edit them, saved and replaced file on my computer, but still I get the same unchanged text on this site when I preview.how to edit and replace these files within the flash movie?

i bought a template and have edited too my satisfaction,however i am unable to add more pics to the gallery,i can add frames and pics in the pics/thumbs timeline, but they do not showi can change the 12 pics in the original timeline without difficulty, but cannot find anyway to add more pics or thumbs.i have been trying to sort this for a week with no joy, i would really appreciate any help that i can get on this, any at all.i did post the .FLV file on the adobe server Case #0181222772

i am new to Flash and am currently working with an XML based flash template. When i open the .fla file, none of the text or images show up. I understand this is b/c i have to edit the xml file in dreamweaver. However that is a very complicated way of doing it b/c then i have to keep going back and forth between several programs and saving, and updating, and never getting of "live view" of the chages i am making. My question is: Is there really no way for me to edit the whole xml flash template in Flash CS5? Meaning is there some sort of way to import or manipulate the files so that i can edit the text and images directly in flash pro cs5 and not having to keep going into dreamweaver?

While I'm just a beginner right now it/I'm an experienced computer user and I have really enjoyed/but when I'm looking at it now I'm trying to use flash to edit a website template, for example monster templates. I bought a template from the site and nine trying to edit it now and well it just seems like it's a very very long process to do something kind of where I just want to look at the page and I want to edit the text and only I go to bed doesn't seem to be the case. So I'll show you what I mean.
When I'm using the program and I'm in Adobe flash I'm looking now at the screen inside the program and there's no text I see the graphics images and there's no text and also is that some type of way where it's easy to navigate link to link where I can just edit the text what supposed to be in there rather than search for the funeral push page up and down until I come across just a white background with tax and then have to edited which is pretty confusing because I don't know where that's located but I the general idea that if you change it but surely there must be an easier way.
So basically I'm including a screenshot that shows you exactly what I'm talking about. Basically once again I'm in fashion items Sandy text so it's kinda hard to see what was going on or whatever so you can see the snow text located in the thing but however when I publish the file yeah you can see the text and everything I'm kinda looking for some type of you well be able to see this and just edited really. I know there are other programs out there like SWF edited her or quick note to some like that. But I really wanted to use flash, unexperienced Photoshop user and I really love all Adobe products and I really think that this is the master program to use however I'm really don't want it as of right now it's been about 40 days and nine still a bit lost navigating through the program will I'm just really just China entities tax bills and just go through the site. Now I realize I should have the respect for beautiful program like this and it's not been a be set up to the way that I'm hoping it Siskind be a point-and-click editor I understand that. I'm just wondering if anybody has any type suggestions or perhaps of I'm missing something which is fantastic.

WTH - is it supposed to be this difficult to manipulate a template or am I stupid???
Go into project explorer and can't see much AS so how the hwll are they getting the images and text into the flash swf. By the html??? I don't think so.

I'm actually relatively new to flash and actionscript but I could say I have fair knowledge about them. So anyway, I usually build flash websites the traditional way using timeline animation and scripting. Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.
Accordingly, I'd like to know where and how to start. What are the main concepts I should follow/adapt?

If not, can this be done using just ActionScript?
I want this so that I can use it as a screensaver. I'm not graphically inclined, otherwise I would make it myself.
Or, heck, does anyone know of any screensavers floating around that offer this?

I have built a template for a client that I would like to use for every page of the site. The problem, of course, is that the content within each page has to be changed. Ideally, I'd even change the layout; for example, some might have images, others just all text, others tables, etc.

I am customising a Template Monster template that has a flash menu.When I changed the getURL code (using AS2) of my flash menu buttons they work for an external URL but do nothing in my site. EG.THIS WORKSgetURL("index.html");THIS DOESNTI have everything in the same root folder and the animated menu bar works perfectly in-situ, just wont go from page to page.

I have two questions (I'm a photographer and flash novice):
1) I just bought this flash template (URL...) and I need to edit it. Rewriting the text is easy, I just rewrite it in XML files, but I cant figure out how to change the font, font color and font size. Could somebody tell me how to do it?
2) I also bought this template (URL...) and I cant figure out how to edit name in the header and text in the top menu. I really cant find it anywhere (I dont see it in Adobe Flash and I dont see any jpeg or PSD file in the flash directory...)

I'm going to use a Flash template as the basis for a new website. I have loaded the Flash files into Flash but I would like to work individually with some of the graphics images in the Library and edit them using Photoshop or Gimp afterwhich I will udpate them. I can't figure out how to exports or copy any or all of the elements in the Library so I can edit them

I don't know why this is so difficult, but I'm unable to embed a swf generated in flash into a dreamweaver template. I can finally create a few basic animations and want to test them out in the dreamweaver envoirment. What is the simplest path to accomplishing this? For example if I open flash, create a simple animation, like a ball moving across the screen. If I save that SWF, what's the next step after opening dreamweaver. I just want to be able to test it the site with dreamweaver or see it "live".

I downloaded a flash template for a website and it includes a looping .wav soundclip that starts automatically when the page is loaded. There is an ON/OFF button that stops it, then starts it again.What I want to do is change the soundclip to a soundclip of my own. The instructions that came with the template say that to change the music, all I need to do is change the sound_Bar movie clip.
When I double click the sound_Bar movie clip, and select the "music" layer in the timeline, in the properties tab I see the following options:
Name: OLDclip.wav
Effect: -- (blank)
Sync: -- (blank)
Loop
I've imported my custom sound to the library, but when I select it, the values change to this:
Name: NEWclip.wav
Effect: -- (blank)
Sync: Event (<-- I can't change this back to being blank)
Loop
Anyways, what happens when I change the clip is that when I click the OFF button, the sound does not stop. Then if I click the button again to turn it ON, it starts the clip again, but overtop of the one that's already playing.Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? I don't really know too much about flash, that's why I bought the template pre-made...so far I've been able to edit everything else, and the music seems to be the last step but is giving me the most problems.

I've set up an application to print the current state of the control I'm using (in this case an ArcGIS server map), but I'd like to set up a print function that uses it's own template to print rather than grabbing the state of the application.
I've attempted to do this by setting up a flex component that lays out the items I want to print and instantiating it when I call the FlexPrintJob. Unfortunately, simply instantiating it results in getting a blank green square.
There are two main questions about this that I'd like to put out there. First, what needs to be done to print a newly instantiated template rather than just grabbing already existing controls from the screen? Second, for more controls that need to load complicated data from multiple sources, like an ArcGIS map, is it possible to instantiate them in that kind of environment, or is there a way to take an image of the control in the application and print that?

I am building an application template in FlashDevelop/Flash, to be used as the template for all our future projects. In a swc-free world, the template has a bunch of library symbols and a whole package of classes in the /lib/ folder that run the whole thing.
What I would like to do, is package all that up into a single swc, so the team can checkout the latest build of the swc from svn at the start of a project, put it in the /lib/ folder and forget about it.
However, all attempts to do this have failed so far. Is it even possible to put everything into one swc?

I am not an AS3 guru but recently I started learning AS3 and write code to build a website for my digital photography content.Of course, you can argue, why not get a ready-to-use template and go from there. However, I wanted a website with flexibility and tailored to my needs and one that can be easily updated and scalable.The question I have is in regards to the design patterns in AS3. I have created several classes that create for example photo galleries, and then use photo viewer class to display photos, etc.However, as the code is growing and more and more instances of different objects appear within my code all over the place i am starting to loose track of how to communicate between objects and what would be the best practices for building a photography website.I read about Factory Method Pattern and Singleton Pattern as well as MVC, and seems like MVS Pattern would offer the best way i could build the website.

i've got problem with adding a button to a template, so by default there are 4 buttons.i've localized in source move clip with buttons and animation, i've copied one of them and pasted, then i've changed the name from item for to item5. the data for buttons and web pages displayed by them are from the xml file, which code i attach. the problem is that even if i added 5 section [with the number 5 in systemOrder) the webpage doesn't display this content correctly, sometimes taking the value of previous button and sometimes showing just main frame, and instead of elements and texts from xml it shows "Undefined". I've search all the source using movie explorer and i havent found anywhere else connections with item4 / item5.

Im a relative novice in Flash and Im used to working in CS3. However, I am trying out CS4 to do a change a template that a client bought. Everything is going smoothly for the most part.However, I am not able to change the tab names on the template that she wants. I expected for the text to be on its own layers as seperate rollovers, but I guess somehow they are nested within the button shapes and I cannot locate them. I've been trying to change them for the past 2 days and I have had no luck thus far.I know you guys are some of the best when it comes to Flash. Here is the working template and what I have done thus far. I was able to change the girl's eye color from blue to dark brown and change the default title that came with the template to the name of her business:

I tried to search but was unable to find. Just to see if I was publishing incorrectly I took a stock flash 8 template and uploaded it to my server putting all files and directories exactly as they were on the local version. Same result as my published version. Works perfect on my pc when I click the index.html file. All loads smoothly and template works perfectly.But when I load the same template onto the server via filezilla (all loads fine and the file sizes appear to all be correct). All I get is blank page on screen and says done in bottom of page. (Mozilla)SO, on IE I get page error and nothing loads. On mozilla I get nothing at all just blank page and at the bottom it says done?
So I guess what I am asking is: Is there something that I am missing when uploading a flash8 template straight out of the box. No edits no changes just upload to see how it looks from the server?NOTE: On same server I loaded a FULL FLASH template that I even made some edits on and loaded it partially finished and it worked fine. The other template in question is a flash banner template I tried from the free downloads section of template monster (Its the one with the green apple split into sections and stacked off center) couldnt find a name for it or template number

Immediately after finding out I was laid off I began to try and increase my online presence by building a webpage.I found a flash web template that I was able to highly customize however I can't figure out how to add additional hyperlinks, images, etc. This crosses the line between dreamweaver and flash. The flash file is a complied file that flash creates and I can only edit it if I have all the original files (kinda, there are other ways around that). Anyways, I have all the files, I think however I still can't seem to figure it out.
I would like to add additional images, hyperlinks, and maybe even move some stuff around however it seems like everything is either locked down of difficult to modify. I have looked around online for some good tutorials however I can't seem to find any that match what I'm trying to do. Would it be best to try and build the hyperlinks in flash or should I do that in dreamweaver? Dreamweaver I'm guessing, however since I'm editing the site via .xml the insert hyperlink capabilities within dreamweaver are not enabled unless I'm directly editing the index.html. By the way, I'm using CS4 Flash and Dreamweaver. [URL].
