Mar 7, 2012I am writing a flex3 tool for our uber-geeks. The tool is for futzing around with sharing URLs to various various social sites.

I can call an external javascript function that will do a post, but however the XmlHttpRequest infrastructure only want to setRequestHeader(key,value), and seems to need to be from a very specific list of strings. setRequestHeader("foo","bar") did not add a foo header in my outgoing request.
There does not seem to be a way to add the header meta tag. via javascript. Or at lease I am not finding it off of google.

is it possible the description etc. is coming from somewhere inside flash that i cant see?

Flash :: Meta Tag In Project Can't Handle Percentage Width/height Values?
Apr 5, 2011I have an ActionScript project set up using the Flash Builder IDE. Using the Flex 4 compiler to compile it. At the top of my application class, I have:

This is not acceptable to the compiler to do a release (it throws errors saying it can't parse the width/height values). Pretty annoying. I've tried to do things the "right" way, but none of the following work:

So the width and height attributes are being explicitly set to numbers here. I don't know much about the 'scale' attribute; maybe it is coming in to play here? And, to be clear: it will work as expected if I set the [SWF] meta tag to have width "100%" and height "100%"... so it seems like it actually is preferring the compiled arguments over the browser environment. Perhaps there are other settings I am missing?

Nov 17, 2010I have been trying to customize the datagrid component. So far I have been able to customize the cells using a custom cellRenderer. I would like to change the way the header looks by using a custom headerRenderer as well but from all the ones that I have tried to make don't work.[code]to try and set the headerRenderer class that I created to the datagrid name dgPL. But it doesn't work. From what I have found on the internet the headerRenderer class is suppose to act just like the cellRenderer class in design and implementation. I can't find any examples of people using a custom headerRenderer class or examples on how to make one.I have gone wrong in designing my class or implementing it into my program would be appreciated.Also I am trying to figure out how to add a Marquee to the cells of the same datagrid so that if the content in the cell is too long for the size of the cell it will scroll across the cell when the user rolls over the datagids list of content. The part I am having trouble with is figuring out how to get the new string assigned to the cell without permanently overriding the dataprovider's content for that specific row in the datagrid.
From my looking on the internet I have found a way to create a marquee for textFields. What I can't figure out is how to apply it to the datagrid itself.[code]Right now the marquee works by creating a textField and doing the marquee that way but that isn't the most effective way of doing it at all due to allignment issues when scrolling the content in the datagrid.I know how the Marquee works I just don't see how to apply this marquee to the datagrid cells itself. I know how to grab the content of my cell's with no issues at all and how to redefine it for the marquee to work I just am not sure how to assign it back to the cell itself without overriding the dataprovider permanently.
Flash - Send Custom Headers With URLRequest?

The website theme is space and astronomy, hence my client wanted banners about space shuttles and galaxies etc. I have been able to do this .. but with one small hitch the banners are in the size of 50-70 KB each. 1. Is there a wordpress plugin which installs adobe flash on the website?
2. Will making the banners in flash reduce the load time?

Flex :: Flash.media.Sound Not Sending HTTP Request Headers?
Feb 19, 2010I am using Flex 3 (ActionScript 3.0). I use the HTTP progressive download to play sound files. I want to secure the sound files, by only serving them when the request comes from my flex app. I chose the simplest solution of adding a HTTP header to each request send from the app. But flash.media.Sound object ignores the headers set in flash.net.URLRequest. Here's an example,

The value of req-origin comes as null in load_sound.php. When i inspect the request using Firebug, the request headers to [URL] doesn't contain the header.
FLASH :: Http Headers - Cannot See Component On The Page Instead There's A Blank White Region

Feb 16, 2011Authentication is performed with Basic auth over SSL (although the password inside the basic auth is SHA-2'ed). The issue is that using basic authentication for the Flash client is causing the standard browser log-in box to appear because of "WWW-Authentication: Basic" in the header. Flash is unable to bypass this by manually setting the Authorization header prior to the request.Other clients need to be able to authenticate via the existing mechanisms, so rewriting the authentication logic would not be ideal.
I have the idea that the authorization headers sent to and received from flash client could be dynamically rewritten to use another name for Basic auth which would cause the browser not to understand the auth mechanism and not present the dialog box. Authentication headers to and from Tomcat could be rewritten from "WWW-Authenticate: Basic" to "WWW-Authenticate: PretendBasic" but ideally the built in container security could still handle the basic auth after the rewrite.
I wrote a filter to rewrite inbound headers as "WWW-Authenticate: PretendBasic" as "WWW-Authenticate: Basic" hoping the next filter chain would be auth and the request would be handled as normal. Unfortunately the Servlet specification states that a filter cannot be inserted prior to authentication. I think the only possibility of this working is to create a stackable JAAS authentication module that would first perform a header rewrite on requests if coming from the Flash client, and then pass authentication through to the existing container managed security systems.

Sep 11, 2010I'm building an image viewer that has violent content (video games), and so it requires users to enter their birthdays. Problem is that because of company policy, I can't expose any of the source images being viewed in the event that someone might use their resources/net tabs (or just sniff the request) and get the direct link to the image. (I know that they could screenshot it, but that's out of anyone's control and not something I'm worried about.)Is there anyway to inherently mask loaded resources (images)? I've been using sockets, which is great, but there's also the problem of actually loading the image binary (after HTTP request headers are removed) as a Bitmap in Flash.

Feb 4, 2012I'm writing a Flash game for a class that is supposed to test elementary kids' math skills. After each activity is completed, Flash sends the results to our database (e.g., that 8/10 math problems were answered correctly). If the user is in the middle of an activity and hits our Logout button, we'll send what results they had to the database anyway. But if the user closes out of the browser in the middle of an activity, is there a way to quickly send stuff to the database before the swf dies?

Sep 29, 2009I'm trying to build a portfolio gallery.I have it set up so that the user gets all my portfolio items to start with and then at the top right there is a comboBox that allows the user to select "programs", "code" and "clients" this changes the left vertical tileList to only show icons of the programs or of codes etc.I'm trying to get it so the user clicks on one of the program icons or whatnot and it then limits the thumbnails in the tileList on the bottom of my widget.The thumbnails come from a xml document that has the images and then <keywords>.Inside this node is a list of the programs and codes used.I tried using indexOf and then a if statement to check if indexOf was -1.But that didn't work.[code]

I've found a way to do this (kind of bootleg) however I'm wondering a way of better executing this.Scenario:I'm loading an external XML file, with numerous items. Each item has it's own 'description' tag. What I'm trying to figure out is how can I more properly execute this:- Find multiple keywords in all loaded items, if I find any of the selected keywords how can I fire off a separate function to my project (Example: If I find the word "hamburger" in one of the lets say, 54 loaded entries, how can I tell my flash project "if you find "hamburger", hamburgers = 1). Same thing goes if I find "hamburger" within 4 xml items, and "hotdogs" in 12 of the entries making flash know hamburgers = 4 and hotdogs = 12.
My predicament really is on ruling out numerous incorrect amounts. Example, If one xml item has hamburger three times, and another xml item has hamburger only once, getting only one valid "hamburger hit" (that was cleaver terminology, wasn't it? ) instead of three hits for that one xml item.So, I'm trying to let flash know, if you notice "hamburger" once, and only once in an xml item, stop counting the hamburgers, and the item's hamburger value is only 1. If the item has no keywords (example, hamburgers, hotdogs, watermelons, soda, blah blah, (lets say a total of 30 keywords) ) do nothing and do not count the item and move to the next for keyword function searching.
