Is it possible to calculate sha256 hashes in the browser using the user's video card, eg. by using WebGL or Flash?
I'm afraid this is all there is to ask, but if more elaboration is needed

I had created an HTML5 Canvas WebGL game in January for the Mozilla Game On 2010 competition (pretty late, I know - I never released it until yesterday). Now I want to port it to Flash ActionScript 3.0 for a college assignment.I'm well versed with both static languages like C/C++ and Java; and dynamic languages like Python and JavaScript. However I don't know ActionScript, but since it's a subset of ECMAScript it should be pretty easy to understand.I want to learn programming in ActionScript 3.0 so that I may be able to port my game in Flash. To be more specific, I want to know more about:How is ActionScript different from Browser and Server-Side JavaScript, and basics.OpenGL programming in ActionScript (including loading textures, shaders, etc).How to create a HUD in Flash using a 2D HTML5 Canvas like API (in my game I have 2 canvases, one for the 3D game and another overlaying it for the heads-up display).Support for vector and matrix calculations in ActionScript.How to load assets like audio and sprites in Flash.It would be even more helpful if you would check my source code in JavaScript and suggest the best possible way for me to tackle this problem.The code for the main game engine and the game itself may be found in my Github repository.

I came across a website recently that outputs a whole bunch of user info: IP, browser, OS, flash version, javascript, etc in a very easy to use format. It was specifically designed for remote support, in order to determine user operating environment. However, I cant recall the name of the website.

I have a Flex client application. I need a clean up function to run in Flex when the user closes the browser. I found the following solution on the net, but it only works half-way for me. How could I fix it?CustomEvent triggered, but not executed. >> EventHandler for CustomEvent.SEND_EVENTS is defined by a Mate EventMap. All the handler does is to call an HTTPServiceInvoker. In debug console, I'm able to see the handler and HTTPServiceInvoker being triggered, but neither the resultHandlers nor the faultHandlers were called. I know this event handler has no problem because when I dispatch the same CustomEvent.SEND_EVENTS in a button click handler, it behaves exactly as I expected)Browser seems to wait for cleanUp function to complete before it closes. (all traces were printed before browser closes down)
Code
I added the following into the index.template.html
window.onbeforeunload = clean_up;
[code].....

So I'm building a web application, and in part of the application the user should choose an XviD (.avi) video file from his machine, to be played in the browser (without uploading it). I decided to use Flash for this.
Now I have two questions about this:
Which Flash video player is free to use and capable of doing this? How should I let the user choose a video file, and how can I link the Flash video player to the file?

On a page with an embedded Flash video (from YouTube in an <iframe/>), is it possible to be notified through JavaScript when the user starts or stops playing a video?
As far as I know, events raised on Flash level are not propagated to the container page, so it is not possible to do that.

Ideally what I was initially looking for is an implementation of the HTML5 Media Capture API with a polyfill rolling back to Flash, however, my research has concluded that the API is in its infancy and is yet to be taken up by any of the major vendors, and in addition to that, Flash means for doing what I need seem scarce.I need to be able to take webcam input from a camera, show a live preview, record, and play back that recording, nothing more, no upload to server necessary, all local

I'd like to gain read only access to the following parameters of embedded Flash videos located on sites that I do not own through my own custom browser extension/add-on:
Time location of playback head (so I can display the current time in the browser extension via HTML5/JavaScript) Frames (so I can make capture them to an image file, save it and display image in browser extension) Original Dimensions in pixels (so I can display the original video dimensions via JS/HTML5 in browser extension)
Is this possible by using Javascript and HTML5 from a browser extension?
Would I have to use something like the SWFObject Javascript API [URL]

Is there any way to disable the "Download This Video" button from RealPlayer. It seems that when users have RealPlayer installed on their machines, it automatically adds a "Download This Video" button to any SWF that loads an FLV.
Edit: My intention isn't to prevent someone from downloading the SWF or FLV, I would just like to remove the ugly button that RealPlayer adds on top of my Flash content.

I'm wondering if its possible to do what I'm thinking, and if it is possible, does anyone know of a flash object that does what I need? I know a Flash object can provide a javascript API to interact with it, what I dont know is can Flash send an email directly without the need to talk to the webserver to do so? If thats possible would it not be possible to write a flash object that did nothing but provide an API to send emails? Has such a thing been created that is out there for others to use?
I'm looking to create a email form on a web page but the site is static (no server scripting). In my situation server scripting is not possible as there is no server, the site is 100% client side on a CD/DVD/USB Stick.

printing directly to a Photo ID Card printer in a web browser?I have a web application that manages user data, photo, and so forth. I'd like to add a Print ID Card feature to it. The web application is a single page javascript application that talks to a RESTful web service via JSON. I'd like to display what the printed card will look like on both the front and back for approval before the user clicks the print button.
Generate front and back JPG or PNG images to print on the server, send them to the client for display and approval, and then somehow send the images to the printer.Use javascript with SVG or Canvas to display the card to print in the UI for approval, then somehow send the SVG/canvas data to the printer.Generate a PDF and print the PDF to the printer.Use Flash to display and print Use a Java applet to display and print Something else?

In my CS4 flash document I have created a media gallery. It's a very simple interface that has mouse overs on thumbnail pictures, and then the larger picture will fadeUP in the center of the document. (With use of framelabels in the timeline).
In the same document, I want the user to be able to click on a video thumbnail, and that video plays back in the center of the document. Several questions: If the user clicks on the thumbnail "onrelease," the time line goes to the player, is it possible to stream this video from a youtube clip into my media player on the screen? If not and I have the document in a fl4 format, is there a simple process to have this video open? (I currently do not have the document in fl4 format).

Here's what I have right now, which works:
<s:List id="list"
itemRenderer="spark.skins.spark.DefaultComplexItemRenderer"
horizontalCenter="0"[code]....
but since there is no name property on the BitmapImage object, I get errors.I guess I need to put each BitmapImage in an Object and also put in a string as a property of the object, but I can't figure out how to do this. This is my best guess, but then I don't know how to specify the property name for the BitmapImage:
<fx:Object label="Truck">
<s:BitmapImage source="@Embed('../images/menus/car_types/truck.png')" />
</fx:Object>
After that, I guess I would make a custom ItemRenderer to read out the properties on each object?

This isn't another one of those "How can I record audio in the browser?" questions... I know that the HTML5 Stream API is around the corner and Flash can already access the user's microphone and camera. I'm simply wondering, as a Javascript developer with little knowledge of Flash, if anyone has developed a JS library that hooks into Flash's device capabilities for recording but sends the results back to javascript (presumably using ExternalInterface).
In other words... libraries like SoundManager2 utilize a Flash fallback for audio playback, but they don't seem to allow for recording. Has anyone written a JS library that uses an invisible Flash movie to allow audio recording?

I have some flash banners for an affiliate program. On my own sites I use an ad serving program and just set the destination URL of the flash banners using the program. However, I want users to be able to modify the destination URL when they put the banner on their own websites. How can I accomplish this? There's no implementation restriction but I want something as simply as possible for my affiliates to copy and paste.

I am working on optimizing a page that has Flash on it. I am using optimization practices like moving Javascript to the bottom to not block. Removing inline scripts. And minimizing HTTP requests with minified css and js.The majority of the pages content is in the flash, so loading it as soon as possible is the goal. Currently there is a 2 ~ 3 second delay before the flash is even rendered (using firebug profiling)
I am wondering at what point in the page load does the browser start initializing flash on the page? Is it once the DOM element containing the flash has been rendered? Is it once the complete onload event has been fired? I imagine it probably differs with each browsers as well.

I'm wondering wether there's a Javascript way to detect wether a user has any sort of flash blocking plugin installed so i can accommodate these users properly. For example, I use 'click to flash', but sites that use SiFR to render text are littered with "click to flash" buttons, which is getting very annoying. I don't use SiFR in my designs for this reason. But if I could spot wether there's a flash blocking plugin installed, I would simply not call the SiFR function.

I have flash component in a website, which shows a preview. There are some UI components overlaid on the preview to allow navigation. Unfortunately it seems that in Safari on Macs, there is a problem:When the user zooms in or out (using the browser based page zoom), my overlaid UI items disappear for some reason. This does not happen on any other platform.I would have though that this zoom function would be something that is taken care of solely by the browser/Flash plugin, however, perhaps there is something I can do to force a 'redraw'?
