How can I change the line height of a Label element in Flex?
I have two labels in a VBox and there is quite a lot of white space between them which I would like to reduce. There's no line height property and setting the height property causes overlap.
I have a movieclip that has a 1px wide line by 10px high. Im trying to resize that line with tweenlite, however when i change the height it makes it wider too... How can i do this and keep the line 1px?

View 2 RepliesI keep feeling like this is just a case of not RTFM hard enough, but I'm just not seeing the answer. Is there a way to use AS3 to dynamically set leading in a dynanmic text field?I've found the getLineMetrics function, which returns a TextLineMetrics instance. This instance can tell me what my leading already is, but when I try to change the value I see nothing change onscreen. Likewise, I don't see any setLineMetrics function to go along with the text field. Is there just no way to change it?
View 4 RepliesI am trying to resize a line within a movie clip. I am resizing the mc horizontally, but when I do this the height of the line also changes. I can of course resize the line itself, but this can't be used for tweening. How can I resize/tween a 1px high line horizontally without changing the height as well?
View 1 Repliesi am given a rectangle of some height and width, i want to fill this rectangle with some dummy single line text. the height and width of text should be close to that of given rectangle. basically, i want the text to full occupy a given rectangular area.
eg: if rectangle height and width is 100 and 300 respectively, then the single line text height and width should be close to 100 and 300 respectively,
I am developing an animated homepage for a Flash-HTML hybrid website, and for the sake of standards, my solution is proving difficult.
Here is the run-down:
For Flash users, HTML page loads a variable-height AS3 Flash movie that will start at 556 pixels high, and after finishing its animation sequence, tween via Actionscript + JavaScript to 250 pixels high.
To kick off this movie sequence -- (below-left) -- I am attempting to set the initial height of the Flash movie via MooTools, so if users do not have Flash or Javascript enabled, they will see the shorter-height image area with alternative image content and HTML content revealed (below-right).
Element.setStyle sets the height just fine until swfObject runs, at which point the movie collapses since I am not specifying a height via CSS. If users do not have Flash, it defaults to the height of a static image.
So here is my question: Does anyone know how to dynamically pass a height variable to swfobject when it is set up to width/height @ 100%? Am I killing myself for no reason trying to work with two page heights?
Image Sequence: Left - Initial Flash movie with HTML navigation below Right - Resized movie at the end of the sequence with HTML nav & content below, looks the same as no-Flash version (static image)

I am trying to use IE8's IWebBrowser2 interface to obtain a webpage's embedded flash's url, height, width information. This flash can be generated by javascript. So I did like this: from IWebBrowser2 I got IHTMLElementCollection,then I iterated through the collection to get IHTMLObjectElement2,and finally called get_data() to get flash's url.
But when I tried to extract flash object's url for [URL], get_data() returned "null". Why is this?So what's the difference between IHTMLObjectElement2 and IHTMLElement2? What's the right way to obtain IHTMLElement2 from IWebBrower2?
i have a page with swf flash flash with width 300x250
<div id="flashswf"> ...some flash </div>
<div id="maxme">full screen</div>
i have a link called full screen and i need to maximize the flashswf div to fit the current browser maximum height and width
is this possible using jquery?
Is it possible to set the stage height and width of your movie externally via Javascript?For example, I created a very simple .flv player that can have its video src changed externally, but now I'd like to also set the height and width of my stage so if I load in a .flv that is smaller or larger I can have it fit to its size.
View 1 RepliesI have a menu screen that for various reasons consists of a number of buttons as separate flash movies. When a button inside these movies is clicked, it is supposed to call a javascript function to move to the appropriate page. It works fine in firefox, but is currently failing in IE7. I don't have an IE6 handy to test on.This is the error I get in IE:[code]I can't locate what char 25 of line 1 might actually mean. I only get the error when I click on the button, and after installing Visual Web Developer to try and get some actual debugging, it doesn't seem to be actually firing the function that is called, so it seems like the error is happening in whatever mechanism actually makes ExternalInterface.call work?[code]
But as i said it doesn't even show up if I put a breakpoint here and debug it. If I put a javascript:gohere('id') link in the html screen and click that it works fine.I have ExternalInterface.call working in other parts of the same project, and can't for the life of me see any differences in the way it has been implemented.
And just loved the way it looked, anyone have any idea how to get a similar effect using ideally CSS/JS and if not then using flash? Furthermore it would be excellent if you could move to the next slide by clicking on the image itself.I'm also wondering how she is able to maintain height of the images when resizing (unless she is doing it manually which I doubt now days).
View 1 RepliesI have a conundrum with a design. Imagine the new Facebook timeline with lots of chronological posts attached to it. However instead of a straight line I need to make a randomized curved line with the content placed against it like so:
The complexity comes in because as the user scrolls more posts are loaded (facebook/google images style) so the line could almost be endless.
As far as I can tell my options are:
SVG - poor support in old browsers
Flash layer - embed will be huge and cause performance issues
Canvas - again the canvas will be huge and might cause performance issues
Question: Are there any cross browser gfx libraries which could do this, preferably with support for IE7/8? Or is there a smarter way to do this which I might be overlooking?
I have data whose primary visual representation is a simple number as aline height, but the rest of the data for a single sample contains much more data. I want to convey this extra information on a html5/flash line graph where each example is guaranteed to be on a single tick, and that the control can drive a click event that supplies the closest tick near the click and the entire associated sample data.[code]The graph would have at least 3 ticks, and if the user hovers/clicks, the extra data of the nearest tick would be shown elsewhere.
View 1 RepliesI am using sifr3 and I know it is supposed to let you use multiple fonts in one line. I have tried a number of changes with my sifr.css and sifr_config.js files to no avail. I tried using spans, sub class of h1, etc. Sample Link: [URL]

I'm wondering if its possible to resize flash with javascript. I can't change any code in the flash object alone all I have is html, javascript and php to work with. Heres what I've found so far:
[Code]....
Content Embed is the embed tag and content object is the object tag in the flash. This works in chrome (and probably firefox) but not ie. In internet explorer I get the error: Unable to set value of the property 'height': object is null or undefined Here is the example page I have been using:[URL]
i have an xml file and i want my code in flash to read it line by line but its only showing the first line out of 5 lines.Below is the code:
var NigeriaNumber:Number;
var stateName:String;
var year:String;

I'm trying to pass the contents of variable playnoyes to the long line of code below to decide whether or not to autoplay the flash movie, but doing it as I have below, the resultant line of code has the variable in quotes and therefore the code doesn't execute it as expected. My question is, how can I pass the variable so that the resulting line of code doesn't have the quotes around the variable value.
var playnoyes='true';
var testtext = "<script type='text/javascript'>AC_FL_RunContent ('codebase','http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.[code]....
I would like to use a movieclip to load a flv video. The problem I have is that I want to change the video dimensions. I've tried several software to change the video dimensions but as far as it seems all of them keep the same height-width ratio than in the original video. Is there any software that would allow me to change the height and width without keeping the same height/width ratio as in the original video file?
View 3 RepliesI am resizing a movie clips height automatically to match the height of some dynamic text that is displayed above it (will eventually be loading it from xml ). is there a way to keep a safe margin top and bottom? this is my code so far Text_Box_Graphic.height = Text_Box.height;
View 2 RepliesI want to constrain the height of a flex component to the height of the browser viewport.
The component's children are populated from a database table using a repeater, and are basic checkboxes. There are enough of them that the flex app ends up being about twice the height of the screen, which means some of the rest of the layout goes crappy on me. How can I force the component that contains these to limit itself to the size of the viewport?
How to set a Spark List height to the height of its content?Tried this:
var lastRow:IVisualElement =
myList.dataGroup.getElementAt(myList.dataGroup.numElements - 1);
myList.height = lastRow.y + lastRow.height;
It works in case of a single item, but lastRow is null in case of more items.
By default the height of an Flex Accordion container is the height of the initially selected child. I'd like to be able to set the height to the tallest child so that no resizing or scrolling is necessary when other children are selected. I do not want to use the resizeToContent property. I want the size of the container to stay constant no matter what child is selected.
My current thought is to extend the accordion class setting the creation policy to "all" and then override the measure function to loop through all the children and find the tallest one and use that for the height. This seems a little kludgy though, so I'd like to know if there is a better approach. Ultimately my question is: is there a way to set the size of an accordion container such that the container never resizes and scoll bars are never necessary to display any of the children?
I have a bit of graphical content inside a symbol that I've created in Flash CS5. Let's call it FunGraphics_Art, it's set to export, and it extends MovieClip.When I edit the symbol in Flash and I hit control-A, the properties panel tells me that all of the content has a height of 72 pixels, positioned at 0,0.The content consists of a few (classic) textfields, and a couple of Checkbox components and a few bits of vector art.All the content is on a single frame, no layers.So far, so good. I export my art as a .svc and am able to use it all in code just fine. However I then add the following bit of code to my .as file..[code]Somehow, there's something strange going on that's causing Flash to think my exported symbol is about 75 pixels higher than it actually is. I've looked around for invisible "blank" textfields, but haven't found anything yet.
View 2 RepliesI've created a dynamic text field, and set autoSize to true, so it can grow was tall as necessary. I then want to use the _height value to size a container graphic (speech bubble). Here's the (simplified) code:
[Code]....
Returns 19.6 followed immediately by 35.2. It's as though reading txt._height causes it to recalculate, so it's correct the second time. I also tried the textHeight property, which also seems to get recalculated after _height is accessed. This sequence, for example:
[Code]....
I have a problem with an flash object. The object is an expanding topbanner, but when retracted, the on mouse over effect still appears on the invisible part of the banner. The code is the following:
<div id="exp_banner" style="width:930px; height:180px; overflow: hidden; position: absolute; z-index: 100;">
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="test.swf" width="930"
[Code].....
I have tried to add a style height to the object with an height of 180px, but then the banner scales down.
I made a scrollbar class that works pretty well. I'm trying to come up with an idea for how to set to the height of the scrollbar vs the height of the scrolling content. This is a standard thing that happen in the OS. Seems there should be a minimum number and the maximum value should be reached as the size of the content approaches the size of the visible area.
