how to keep a button highlighted after it is selected?My navigation list is gray, when I select a navigation button, I have it turn orange and go to that scene/page once I roll off the button it goes back to gray. I would like it to stay orange.

My question is how to I temporarily disable a button so it appears highlighted but you cannot click it when you are in that spot. E.g. when scenario 1 button takes you to scenario 1, I only want the others buttons to be clickable...

View 1 Repliesnow i've divided my scene with frames labeled. say: at frame 1, it's my about section. At frame 20, its my photo section, etc. on the same scene, i've created my menu to navigate to these sections. each button calls a frame label, and the proper ainmation happens, and then, you're in the section you chose. NOW... (i have a feeling i should of thought about that earlier...) i'm trying to figure out a way to tell my button to be unclickable (and hightlighted) while you're in its section, until you leave that section. i know that my site is probably NOT constructed the way it should be. but starting over isnt really an option, since i have a deadline...
View 6 RepliesI need to give a value, then when I give another value, the actionscript goes to the new value slowly.So if I give 10, then I give 20, the value goes 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20. Basically I'm creating a dynamic menu that when a button is highlighted, a vine grows to the button. When you highlight the button next to it, the vine grows to the next button. I can't think of a way for this to work other than this value smoothing technique.

Trying to get a square to change to different shapes when you select a button from the menu, it changes from one size to the next. Can anyone help me find a way to get this done, I am more on the designer side of the board but trying to do the back ground work. It need to change shape back and forth no matter which button is selected, without it looking like there is a hitch in the morphing of the square

I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. View 2 RepliesI am new to Flash and this forum, so please excuse what will hopefully be a simple question.I am using Flash to build an interactive video kiosk for a museum that will be playing on a MacMini. it possible to create buttons or "scripts" that can be controlled with keystrokes? For example when you press "K" an embedded video will start playing. Or if you press "D", you could go back to the main menu? I am trying to make it so you can interact with flash via push-buttons, as opposed to moving a cursor over virtual buttons. Is this possible? would normally do this in DVD Studio Pro, but the sheer number of videos will not work in a single DVD project, so Flash is the only option I can think of. As a DVD it works great because I can use the arrow keys to navigate, and the enter key to choose a selection.

OK. So I have a group of radio buttons on the stage. If the user chooses one of the buttons and hits 'Submit' all is fine. If they fail to make a selection I want to show them an error. Using the code below works fine if this happens initially, but if the user makes a selection and hits 'Submit' the radGroup.selection is now true. So now if they do not make a selection the next time, when they hit 'Submit' it does not catch the error.

View 2 RepliesI am in the process of learning AS 3 and Flash on my own and currently using the Actionscript 3.0 Adobe Classroom in a book CS4 version. Having a problem with the Lesson Adendum if anyone has done it. This lession requires you to create two buttons. They both draw shapes on the stage. When one is clicked, it draws Rectangles on the stage following the mouse movement. When the other is clicked, it draws Ellipses instead. The problem I am having is that it just draws rectangles and not ellipses when the 2nd button is clicked. Would be greatful if someone could tell me what i am doirng wrong. View 3 RepliesI am new to Flash and use Flash MX.I saw a site online that I really enjoyed and would like to make a similar one to it, though I'm not sure what is the best way to do it.The site is http:[url]......html I like how the lines and boxes appear and then the buttons. My question is, what is the best way to do this? I've seen lines and boxes appear and move around on a variety of flash sites, so HOW IS IT DONE? Is it better to create the entire document and have certain sections reveal with a mask or is it better to use tweening to make it look like the lines/boxes are getting longer/bigger? Should action script be used in this sort of thing?
View 7 RepliesI'm trying to allow users to download a song based on a radio button selection. And I've succeeded in getting the "save as" box to pop up, but for some reason, the file does not actually download and save after you hit the save button.

EDIT: Someone informed me that if the variables weren't defined OUTSIDE of the function then they would be garbage collected. I moved them outside but it is still behaving the same.
I have 6 radio buttons spilt into two groups of 3 and one normal button.The first group of radio buttons correspond to colour and the second to texture.My aim is for the user to be able to chose a colour, then chose a texture by use of the radio buttons, click on the normal button named 'create' which loads a corresponding jpg onto another part of the stage according to the colour & texture selection.I am totally stuck on how to code the buttons so this can happen.I'm sure there is an easy (ish) way for this to happen, but i'm no expert and haven't been able to find it or work it out.I've named each radio button individually, grouped the two sets of radio buttons for colour & texture and named the normal button.

Have been incorporating XML data into applications for a while now... have now begun using it for medium to large navigation lists.While I can do any method of horizontal, clamshell, expandable, motion-based navigation etc I have a strange problem overall... I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to code a smart function that will check which nav item was clicked and keep it highlighted until another one is clicked... then that one would highlight and all of the others would be un-highlighted.
I can do rollOvers using references to XML array generated items. BUT-- the smart checker is something I cannot figure out... any ideas out there. Must be simple.
I'd like to be able to tell my ADG to set a specific row to be highlighted and update the adg rendering to match such new value. Note: highlight != selected.
I thought perhaps setting highlightUID would do the trick, but I can't seem to get the ADG rendering to update.
I've recently designed some menu buttons each one gets highlighted on mouse over and defaults back on mouse out. On Mouse click the button remains highlighted and when another button is clicked the current button goes back to its default state and the new button is now highightedI know this has been asked before, and I know how to do this using a timeline and having flags marking the 'start' 'end' and 'highlight' states on the timeline. My original code uses IF and gotoAndStop statements...But recently I've been getting into tween classes using as2 and would like to know how to achieve this effect using _alpha values within tween classes.To me it seems easier to do this purely with code, i.e _alpha is 0 then tween to 100 on rollover. On rollout it reverses, and on click the alpha immediately goes to 100 and stays at 100 until another button is pressed
