ActionScript 2.0 :: Make Lines/boxes Move With Button Selection?
Jun 30, 2003
I am new to Flash and use Flash MX.I saw a site online that I really enjoyed and would like to make a similar one to it, though I'm not sure what is the best way to do it.The site is http:[url]......html I like how the lines and boxes appear and then the buttons. My question is, what is the best way to do this? I've seen lines and boxes appear and move around on a variety of flash sites, so HOW IS IT DONE? Is it better to create the entire document and have certain sections reveal with a mask or is it better to use tweening to make it look like the lines/boxes are getting longer/bigger? Should action script be used in this sort of thing?
I am working on a form that is sent to a PHP script and emails the client and company with the results. All is good and well except for the checkboxes I am working on - In some instances I have 4 possible checkboxes and as one is checked the others are cleared. I have done this simply by moving to a frame and reassigning the variable using the code below:
its strange but one time this code works in a few minutes suddenly i get error #2032. I am just start to learn AC3 and obviously doing something wrong.and explain me?
I am willing to use Macromedia Flash this year to make my physics project. Well, its going to be force resultant calculator. for ones dont know how it gets counted.
Well, I'll make 4 input text boxes, and a button in the middle. 1 text boxin the north, (power effect the body from the north) one on the south, one on the east and one on the west.(I've done that part).
Then, ill need it to subtract the north - south and east - west on(release), and display that on a dynamic box called Fx (east - west) and another called FY (north - south) Finally, I'll need it fethagorth the Fx and FY to give me the final force resultant. I've done the 4 input boxes and a button, I'll still need someone gimme the action script for subtraction and fethagorth (or atleast teach me how to do it).
I'm trying to make a series of images move on button press. The first will appear on the stage when the pages loads. There will be a next button which will make the current image move off to the left of the stage and the next move in to the stage from the right and stop in the center. There are about 10 images.
I also have to do the same to another page but with text and moving in vertically instead of horizontally. I have posted this at the bottom (as the images one is too big to post). Although this version is the one I did with tweens that did'nt work, you can have a play with it if you like?
I'm trying to write something like this facebook app [URL] I've already written code to let user to move circles with mouse, but i've got a problem with lines connecting them- sometimes i see old ones, which should have been deleted already. I refresh all lines every time any circle is moved. Here is my code which draws lines
How come when you make a button in flash, and you roll over it . the font seems to move some. It doesnt accually MOVE but it looks like a few pixels get bumped around. Its the wierdest thing.
I have a set of dots displayed on the canvas (key bits of code pulled out):
// Drop points based on x y coords for (var i = 0; i < 50; i++) { itemPoint[i] = new mcDot();[code]....
how to redraw the lines as I move a dot. Also there could be many lines connected to any single dot. Do I need to somehow register which lines are connected to which dot? How do I redrew the lines based on this?
well i want to make buttons that on rollover move to left, on rollout move back to their initial position, and if clicked, they but stay this time at the final rollover place, and be there until something else is clicked. When something else is clicked, the previous button , returns to its initial place. So i ve got it all figured out except for the freeze and move part when the buttons are clicked. All it does now , is when they are clicked they freeze at the position i want, but i havent got a clue how to update them, after so they start moving back, and reacting on rollover and rollout, when the next button is clicked.
Using Tween class maybe? I tried the easeOut. But if will write 2 Tween, the 2nd one will overwrite the 1st one, so I only see the obj moving in the 2nd Tween direction, not the 1st Tween direction. I know the coordinates for the 2nd Tween below is not correct (cos all coordinates shld follow the defined reference point), so I need to find out the logo's width and height. But is alright now cos it is for testing purpose.
I used this tut to create a menu. [URL] And my question is; Can I make the slider to move after a movie clip symbols instead of button symbols? That way my menu would be animated.
In photoshop, you can create a path with the pen tool and then make that path a selection as if you'd used the lasso tool. How do you turn a pen path into a lasso selection in Flash (CS4)?
I'm trying to move a forklift with 8 boxes I have a MC called forklift, when I move the forklift up it returns an integer number, but when the forklift go down returns a decimal number so the action cannot be called this is the AS
well i tried to make a selection tool just for the heck of it, so when you click and drag a box apear and selects multiple things you drag over, i got it 80% done but im stuck in a rut, here is my fla please give me advice on improving, youll see what i mean when you run it[URL]...
I have a movie clip which has 3 different text boxes inside it. I want to make each text box clickable similar to a hyperlink in HTML (clicking on text box 1 takes you to one website, clicking on text box 2 takes you to another website, etc.). Right now my code is as follows:
ActionScript Code: MyMovieClip.gotoAndStop(2); MyMovieClip.TextField1 = "Click Here For Example 1";
[Code]...
So, you will see that I have 3 different text fields (labelled TextField1, TextField2, TextField3. Something is obviously wrong with my onRelease function, so my question is how can I make TextField1 clickable and send you to [URL] when you click on it? Am I using the right approach in the first place?
i have five arrow mc's. when each arrow mc is clicked, it makes a box mc visible with content in it next to it, like a tool tip.the behavior i'm looking for is this:when any given arrow mc's box is visible, clicking on any other arrow mc will make the presently visible box mc disappear and the new box mc appear.
I basically am creating a video where the intro video plays through then the user is prompted with 3 choices to select which video will play next I am using keyboard input to make the selection. I have the keyboard input capturing working, pretty basic, but I am having trouble getting it to switch to say scene 2 (where I have another video)
[Code]...
And I get a compiler error stating "Scene 1, Layer 'content', Frame 1, Line 11 1120: Access of undefined property event. No other errors come up
I'm looking for the code in AS 2 on how the cursor can move over a line (an object). So the user needs to move the cursor over that line. If he moves out of the line-area, he fails. It's a bit like that classic game we played as a child in our colouring books,
how to keep a button highlighted after it is selected?My navigation list is gray, when I select a navigation button, I have it turn orange and go to that scene/page once I roll off the button it goes back to gray. I would like it to stay orange.
Trying to get a square to change to different shapes when you select a button from the menu, it changes from one size to the next. Can anyone help me find a way to get this done, I am more on the designer side of the board but trying to do the back ground work. It need to change shape back and forth no matter which button is selected, without it looking like there is a hitch in the morphing of the square
I never realized that fl.getDocumentDOM().selection doesn't retain the selection order... <sniff>. I was hoping to build relationships based on the order. I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. I'm trying to avoid: Select Object, <Press 'Parent' Button>, Select Parent, <Press 'Parent' Button>
What i need to do is, In Flash (FlashMX, CS3 or CS4) I need to place 2 combo boxes. by default the 1st one will be enabled and the 2nd will be disabled. First combo box will have country names and the 2nd will have state names. when a user selects the country name from the 1st combo box, the 2nd shuld then get enabled. and when a user selects the state from the 2nd combo box, there will be button next to it for clicking. on clicking the button, the values in each combo box shuld be selected and the user will be taken to a specific URL which will have the contents on current selected state in the current selected country.

I am new to Flash and this forum, so please excuse what will hopefully be a simple question.I am using Flash to build an interactive video kiosk for a museum that will be playing on a MacMini. it possible to create buttons or "scripts" that can be controlled with keystrokes? For example when you press "K" an embedded video will start playing. Or if you press "D", you could go back to the main menu? I am trying to make it so you can interact with flash via push-buttons, as opposed to moving a cursor over virtual buttons. Is this possible? would normally do this in DVD Studio Pro, but the sheer number of videos will not work in a single DVD project, so Flash is the only option I can think of. As a DVD it works great because I can use the arrow keys to navigate, and the enter key to choose a selection.
I want to have 4 buttons my stage that draw different color boxes with the option of me reference them.Heres the working version so far without the capabilities of 4 buttons:[code]
