I'm looking for the code in AS 2 on how the cursor can move over a line (an object). So the user needs to move the cursor over that line. If he moves out of the line-area, he fails. It's a bit like that classic game we played as a child in our colouring books,

I am new to Flash and use Flash MX.I saw a site online that I really enjoyed and would like to make a similar one to it, though I'm not sure what is the best way to do it.The site is http:[url]......html I like how the lines and boxes appear and then the buttons. My question is, what is the best way to do this? I've seen lines and boxes appear and move around on a variety of flash sites, so HOW IS IT DONE? Is it better to create the entire document and have certain sections reveal with a mask or is it better to use tweening to make it look like the lines/boxes are getting longer/bigger? Should action script be used in this sort of thing?
I have a set of dots displayed on the canvas (key bits of code pulled out):

how to redraw the lines as I move a dot. Also there could be many lines connected to any single dot. Do I need to somehow register which lines are connected to which dot? How do I redrew the lines based on this?
I have attached my FLA & I was just wondering if anyone out there could tell me how to make it so that my paddle will move so that the pong game is playable.
I've used one of the hangman source code online and i couldn't get it to work. I want to move from hangman 1.2.1 to hangman 1.2 but i can't do that because the button just won't work. I am creating a board game and I am using Object Oriented Programming with AS3. I created a movie clip with a circle that moves across the game board. There are 18 squares and 18 frames. I have a button that gives you a value with a dice with the random number function:

I have a class for the dice button, die, gameboard, and the main board. I am trying to make the circle move across the board(or go to the frame in the mc) depending on what the value I get with the dice. Here is my code so far:

The mc instance for the gameboard is gameBoard. Also, if anyone knows how to trigger a labeled frame depending on which square the circle lands on that would be a plus.

I'm trying to do a simple game in which you have to move a frog in X axis to catch the falling flies. sorry if I mistake some words cuz I talk in spanish It's already done, but it has 2 bugs and I dunno what the reasons are
The 1st bug, Each time the game is over, and you click in "PLAY AGAIN ", I could notice that the frog movement (which you can move by pressing the keys) is increased a little; for example if you played 6 times the 7th you can reach the opposite side by pressing the corresponding key 2 times, despite the fact that in the code i did write only +15px for the right when you press right arrow and -15px for the left when you press the left one (on X axis) for each time the key is pressed
I have been working on a map viewer based blitting technique. As part of the map I need to draw approximately 50000 lines and performance is currently really poor.
I'm trying to make a program that's meant for graphics tablets in AS3. So far I can allow the user to draw a line across the stage so that they know where their moving their pen around. However I want this line to only be temporary, and so the graphics.Clear() method is called to remove it.
I'd like this to look a lot better however, as the line just instantly disappears. Does anyone know how I could add code that makes the line fade out to 0 alpha first before I call the clear command?

I'm new to Flash, but I understadn the basics. Unfortuently, I may have gotten in over my head with this project. I have four years if crime data for my school. I want to make an interactive graph where a user can click a crime, (check box) and that crime's change over four years will appear. (by change I mean how many crimes of that type occurred in the last four years.) I don't know how to do this, mainly because I'm not for sure how to layer the lines on the graph.
if I drew a line or something, it would just be the line and I could immediately edit the shape. Now, there is a blue box surrounding it. what purpose the blue box serves. However, when this started, my fill stopped working.
I can fill a shape I have hand-drawn, but not when I use the line tool. I have included a screen shot of the blue box surrounding a line. I have assured that all sections of a shape are touching before trying to fill.
I have a rectangle drawn on the screen. I exported the center of the rectangle for action script. I have an instance of the center exported rectangle overlaying my main rectangle. I do this so that I can change the back color with actionscript. I have the blending property of the overlaying rectangle set to overlay so that borders of my original rectangle are visible.
My problem is when I scale the flash window the borders of my rectangle sometimes dissappear.

- How to make the stick move with the center in the point near the ball; - How to draw the yellow line; - How to calculate the corners; - And in the last, how to move the ball with accelerated motion when press a button.
I am making a breakout type game where you bounce a ball around and it hits & breaks blocks.The issue im having is with handling the ball after a collision is detected.Every frame the ball checks four points on its surface to see if they are colliding with any of the blocks. The problem occurs when the ball starts moving fast. The ball's radius is 7 pixels. If it is moving upwards at higher than7 px/ frame, then the ball might end up half way into one of the blocks.
In that case the ball detects a collision on its top AND on its side (which is bad -- If the ball is travelling upwards it should detect the collision at the top of the ball)how I could fix this so that I can make the ball move fast without sacrificing the accurate detection of collisions??

i am an newbie as3 developer, and i am working on a basic, horizontal shooter platform game.and my question is: how can i make enemies move smart, towards the player? ( but ofcours you are in able to dodge)so like, an enemy is moving to me so when i am not dodging, it will hit the player.
I am working a lot with adobe recently but its the first time for flash. i have been searching the net for the past hours but didnt find whatwhat i need is a small animation that records the pen movements i make as a visible path. I want to sketch a logo for a company and want the the logo to look like its being drawn on the spot for the presentation.all i could come up with is make a dot, next frame next dot next frame next dot and so on. but that does not only look like crap it also doesnt seem like the brightest choice to me.

Everything going well so far except for camera control. I want the character to always be in the center of the screen. only when the side boundaries are reached, the character should leave the center of the screen to be able to reach the sides of the screen.Somewhat like this: http:[url]....I've tried 2 ways but both without succes:
- move the character using the keyboard, but somehow keep it in the center of the screen (have no idea on this one)
- move the entire area except the character to simulate movement.
This seems kind of ineffeciant but it worked out better that the previous attempt, the only problem is that the character doesn't return to the center of the screen when he leaves the boundary.The .fla's are available for download here http:[url]....
the actionscript is all in the first frame.try not to be too hard on the crappy visuals Ignore the comments too, theyre only there to help me understand what I did.The boundaries seem to be a bit sketchy aswell when moving to the sides, but that's not a big problem right now.
I would like to know is there any limitations in flash textarea like the number of lines it can have or the number of bytes it can have. iam opening a text file using php in textarea, where all the contents of the files are not getting loaded in the textarea. If it is there then how to increase its size, is it same thing in flex?
I keep getting dashed lines between keyframes after I select "Motion Tween" in the properties. Even a bouncing ball won't give me a solid tweening line in the Timeline. I created symbols and all but no go.
On the default page, I have scattered photos. Once "Clothes" is clicked, it contains a page flip. When the page flip is loaded, I would like for the scattered photos to hide. If this can't be done, then the page flip should be on top of the scattered photos. Right now it's not doing either. Reference: [URL]
