ActionScript 2.0 :: Paddle Won't Move In Pong Game?
May 3, 2005I have attached my FLA & I was just wondering if anyone out there could tell me how to make it so that my paddle will move so that the pong game is playable.

I just saw the McDonald's commercial which I have linked to below and I would like to try developing something similar for a festival. We have been talking about making a game in which the user has to use their iPhone and something like what McDonald's has done would be great.My question is if anyone have an idea how I can send the data and what technology they might have used? I imagine making two websites. One on which the game itself is shown and one which is the controller but how would I make sure that the data is sent and handled fast enough?I am familiar with JavaScript and PHP. I have been working a bit with flash and ActionScript and I am wondering if that might be best for the game (obviously not the controller)You can see the McDonald's commercial on the link below. View 4 RepliesI am using the pong game tutorial, with all of the actionscript and it is all working except I have one problem I am making it a different size...I want it to fit in a 120x600 area and the ball and bar and game arena are all fitting in there, however, when I put the bricks in there they line up to the old arena. So basically about half of the bricks fit into the playing area and half of them don't, the bricks are also too big. How to make all of the bricks fit in the area of 120x600?

I'm making a game like Arkanoid and to move the ship with mouse, I'm using the following code :

Everything's going fine there! The paddle is moving the way it should! The problem is I want a little inclination towards the direction its moving and when it stops moving the angle of inclination should become zero.
im was wondering if anyone knows the script for a ball bouncing off a paddle. I want the ball to bounce off the paddle in different directions depending on:
1) which side of the paddle it hits
2) which direction it came from
Ive only got this so far : script for the paddle

The game is like any other pong game with one differance. Rather then the paddle only moving left and right, it would move in a circle around the play field and you would not be able to rely on the walls to keep your ball in play. My problem is that I cant get the ball to bounce off of the paddle at the correct angle. Below is a link of the swf and fla that I have now.[code]

View 4 RepliesI am creating a board game and I am using Object Oriented Programming with AS3. I created a movie clip with a circle that moves across the game board. There are 18 squares and 18 frames. I have a button that gives you a value with a dice with the random number function:

The mc instance for the gameboard is gameBoard. Also, if anyone knows how to trigger a labeled frame depending on which square the circle lands on that would be a plus.

I'm trying to do a simple game in which you have to move a frog in X axis to catch the falling flies. sorry if I mistake some words cuz I talk in spanish It's already done, but it has 2 bugs and I dunno what the reasons are
The 1st bug, Each time the game is over, and you click in "PLAY AGAIN ", I could notice that the frog movement (which you can move by pressing the keys) is increased a little; for example if you played 6 times the 7th you can reach the opposite side by pressing the corresponding key 2 times, despite the fact that in the code i did write only +15px for the right when you press right arrow and -15px for the left when you press the left one (on X axis) for each time the key is pressed

I need to build a flash learn game to my students. It is to explain the angles and phisics over the billiard/snooker Table. Something similar to this: [URL] The only thing I can do until now is drag the ball! My doubts are:
- How to make the stick move with the center in the point near the ball;
- How to draw the yellow line;
- How to calculate the corners;
- And in the last, how to move the ball with accelerated motion when press a button.
I am making a breakout type game where you bounce a ball around and it hits & breaks blocks.The issue im having is with handling the ball after a collision is detected.Every frame the ball checks four points on its surface to see if they are colliding with any of the blocks. The problem occurs when the ball starts moving fast. The ball's radius is 7 pixels. If it is moving upwards at higher than7 px/ frame, then the ball might end up half way into one of the blocks.
In that case the ball detects a collision on its top AND on its side (which is bad -- If the ball is travelling upwards it should detect the collision at the top of the ball)how I could fix this so that I can make the ball move fast without sacrificing the accurate detection of collisions??
i am an newbie as3 developer, and i am working on a basic, horizontal shooter platform game.and my question is: how can i make enemies move smart, towards the player? ( but ofcours you are in able to dodge)so like, an enemy is moving to me so when i am not dodging, it will hit the player.

I want the character to always be in the center of the screen. only when the side boundaries are reached, the character should leave the center of the screen to be able to reach the sides of the screen.Somewhat like this: http:[url]....I've tried 2 ways but both without succes:
- move the character using the keyboard, but somehow keep it in the center of the screen (have no idea on this one)
- move the entire area except the character to simulate movement.
This seems kind of ineffeciant but it worked out better that the previous attempt, the only problem is that the character doesn't return to the center of the screen when he leaves the boundary.The .fla's are available for download here http:[url]....
the actionscript is all in the first frame.try not to be too hard on the crappy visuals Ignore the comments too, theyre only there to help me understand what I did.The boundaries seem to be a bit sketchy aswell when moving to the sides, but that's not a big problem right now.
I'm looking for the code in AS 2 on how the cursor can move over a line (an object). So the user needs to move the cursor over that line. If he moves out of the line-area, he fails. It's a bit like that classic game we played as a child in our colouring books,
