View 5 RepliesI have a fla wher you in a rectangle can put in columns and rows by clicking buttons. Now I want that if you click in one or the smaller rectangles created by the columns and rows, this rectangle shal be filled with a color. I also want to know how many of the rectangles are filled.The meaning is that the user shal visualize a fraction and the as shal be able to know if its right.

i know, i can draw a bitmap on top of it and get pixel data from that... but
1- it seems lengthy approach ( lazy enough, don't want to write few more lines)
2- it confuses, because if i don't want to get color from pixel but i know one flat color is filled?? but shape is strange / arbitrary / random... how can i confirm that specific pixel has some color or not??
i just wanted to know what flat color is filled inside a shape(very edgy...)
I have a rectangle drawn on the screen. I exported the center of the rectangle for action script. I have an instance of the center exported rectangle overlaying my main rectangle. I do this so that I can change the back color with actionscript. I have the blending property of the overlaying rectangle set to overlay so that borders of my original rectangle are visible.
My problem is when I scale the flash window the borders of my rectangle sometimes dissappear.
How do I go about animating a dot to trace the contour lines of a shape, leaving a line path as it goes along? I have the final shape, which is a complex shape, like the shape of a land when you look at a map. For the animation, I was hoping that I can start off with an empty document, and the contour line will begin to trace itself until the final shape appears.

View 2 RepliesThis question has been asked and incorrectly answered a number of times already. Specifically, on an Apple computer, it seems that there is no way to get a video file (.mov, .mpg or any other) out of Flash Pro without severe loss of quality or complete destruction of frame rate.
My .swf files look fantastic, just like they are supposed to. The play at the correct frame rate and all items work as I have set them up. When I go to export it as an .mov or .mpg, the frame rate speeds up and slows down depending on the objects on the screen. I have played with the settings endlessly, knocking the quality down to almost the lowest settings (something I would rather not do after working very hard on my piece) as well as adjusting the frame rate options all over the place to see if anything changed. Nothing. I have read many a forum where Flash creators have the same problems and are tearing their hair out because their work is essentially useless being stuck in Flash.
I know that there are programs that convert .swf files to video very well, some of them cost about $100. Why buy Flash in the first place if you have to buy another, almost equally priced piece of software just to get your content out of Flash? I also know that there are hundreds of free video converters out there for Apples, none of them seem to be able to handle the .swf format, but can do just about everything else. I further know that for windows, there is the free Iwisoft .swf to video converter that works just fine, but does not handle Apple created .swf files when ported across to a PC. How is it that such software is easy and free on a Windows machine, but not a Mac?
I would love it if an Adobe rep could answer some of these questions because I have been all over the web looking for answer to which no one seems to have the right one. Most people can suggest a good video converter that works for them, but they haven't tried it on a .swf file and when the original user tries it, it does not work and the thread dies there.

What i want to do is create a tween whereby one of the points is movedthe problem is you have to convert to a symbol first and after you have done that you cant change the shapes shape.so how do i go about using a motion tween to change the shape of a shape?
i want to collapse a complex scene with all different layers and different transparency into a single layer (or as few as possible) to optimize the flash file for online (were experince proformance issues). I have tried the combine and manually copying pasting into one layer but it cuts the fill below and replace with transparent fill. I want to have a end file that is 100% solid.

However once replace (by use of the "swap video" feature when right clicking video), it blows the video up way bigger. What im doing is trying to duplicate is the text box so that when i want to load new_box.swf (with a variable name "company") into main.swf into a movieclip with an instant name "loader." using this:

I can get the movie to load but it loses the variable "company" in the process and when i send the form it doesnt work. If i just keep it in the main timeline it works but not when i loadMovie.
I am trying to move a 'Shape' object across the screen. As the object moves, a copy is being left at the initial position. Almost as if only an instance of original object ahs been moved
This is not an issue for moving an image or MXML graphic. Is something wrong in setting to the move object?

I am trying to shape tween from a simple vector object to a number of complex vector objects, but the same problem occurs when trying to go from one simple object to two.
Instead of slowly/smoothly splitting the initial object into two, it just copies them and they move apart from each until reaching the final two object forms. As if this wasn't bad enough, they are also connected by a random straight line. Ugly.
I guess I can understand why this happens, but is there no way to tell it to make the transition in another way? Shape hints tend to make the problem even worse.
I was editing an FLA file which was Read Only due to our versioning system (P4) however, when I did not have a file checked out (therefore was Read Only), I did not get an error when I saved the file (there was even a save progress bar!) - yet when I opened the file again, all the information I had "Saved" was not there. I tested this out on several other non-checked out files (read-only files) and I was still able to hit "save" on all of them - but it did not actually save the file. In none of these instances was I alerted that I was trying to edit a read only file.

When you make a shape object and add it to the stage i goes fine, but often when you then change the shape object, like adding another line to it, it won't show the changed version. You can for example have this:

I need to create an application to get input from a webcam or camera connected to a computer and detect certain 3d objects.I could do this from a .3ds file or something else? I'm not quite sure.I am pretty sure it is possible with flash as3? I have been looking into openCV but i can't find any examples of this kind of thing.

Let's say also that you decide to draw a shape overlapping the room, set alpha to 0%, and use hitTestPoint() between this shape and the player to create the movement boundary. In short, as long as the player's centerpoint is overlapping the invisible shape, he/she is free to move around.Now, I decided to make things more complicated and add an obstacle to the room - a table in the center. One would think that cutting a rectangle out of the middle of the invisible shape would prevent the player from being able to move there. No dice, the player passes right through the hole in the middle of the invisible shape. The problem, as I see it, is that when the shape is converted to a symbol for use in actionscript, the entire volume of the movie clip is used for collision detection, not just the shape's volume. No matter what options and settings I play with, I can't get the hole in the shape to stay cut-out when I convert the whole thing to a symbol.
Now, I know I could probably add an extra shape to represent the obstacle, and add extra collision detection into my actionscript. However, given that there will be a large number of rooms in the game, and a variable number of obstacles in each room, this is not an elegant solution. The most elegant solution would be to figure out a way to map the playable area in a room with a single movie clip (/graphic).So, I turn to you fine folk. Can anyone tell me how to convert a shape to any kind of symbol, and preserve features like holes within the shape (as in, not have them glazed over as part of the symbol's body

I'm creating an animation kinda like a travel map, x - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - x .where the x's equal the start and the end point, and the dashs are like your direction etc, a good example is if you've ever seen those pirate movies where they have the maps and it shows where they have to go.is if there is a better way to do it than I currently am (Still finding my way around the whole Animation thing - and I'm sure theres an easier way than this!)
At the moment I'm going frame by frame and in adding objects, so for example, in frame one I have my 'x' object, then frame two I pasted the 'x' object plus one 'dash' objects, and so on and so forth, and I have a feeling that doing this is going to take agessss, and I'm sure there must be an easier way! I essentially need the 'x' object to span across ALL of my frames, is there a command or something for this? I'm not too knowledgeable with tweening, but can it be done with that?
Could someone tell me how to add a image or a text inside the rectangle below?[code]
