ActionScript 2.0 :: Animating A Dot To Trace The Contour Lines Of A Shape

Mar 21, 2006

How do I go about animating a dot to trace the contour lines of a shape, leaving a line path as it goes along? I have the final shape, which is a complex shape, like the shape of a land when you look at a map. For the animation, I was hoping that I can start off with an empty document, and the contour line will begin to trace itself until the final shape appears.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Animating TriggerMC Along With Lines Of Text

Jan 9, 2010

Basically, I just want to do ye old text fade on as if being typed on to the screen. Letter by letter, and in some cases word by word. digi-poetry. I've made a BlackerMC which starts as a black square, then flickerfades away leaving some faded lines (like old school crappy green monitor style), and then the lines fade away. I've placed copies of this BlackerMC over each of the characters/words I want to 'type' on.

What I would like to do is animate a TriggerMC along the lines of text, and whenever it rollsOver a BlackerMC it triggers the Blacker to fade away. I know how to set up BlackerMC to look at its distance to TriggerMC, but then there will be like 500 BlackerMCs enterframing away. Is there a way I can make TriggerMC just look at 'whatever?' MC is under it, and then trigger whatever?MC to play? How to do this the smart way, entirely with action script and Dynamic Text?

Actionscript 3 :: Animating A Number Of Lines Linking Pairs Of Objects?

Oct 7, 2011

I am trying to put together a match activity where word in one column are linked by a line to definitions in another column. Once all words have been linked to their definitions, you end up with a series of crossing lines so, so I want the definitions and their line to move so that each is level with their connected word and the lines have unravelled. I've got as far as connecting the words to their definitions using a line (as a sprite) and the definitions can then be moved using tweenlite -but I have no idea how I move the lines with their definition. Here is a much simplified section of code to give you an idea of what I am trying to do

import com.greensock.*;
import com.greensock.easing.*;
var wordArray:Array = [word1, word2, word3, word4];

ActionScript 2.0 :: Animating Blur Filter - Bring A Loaded Movie Clip Or Trace Mouse Position

I've been scouring the internet for the past hour or so in search of how to do this. It's very simple, but every example seem to want me to bring a loaded movie clip, or trace mouse position. I don't need that! Basically I have a button that when clicked comes to the front (using behaviours), moves to a new position, scales and then I want every other button behind it to blur. Obviously I want them to blur gradually to keep the flow going. Here's my current code so you can see where its going:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Let User Draw/trace Outline Of Shape

Sep 27, 2010

I'm on the user have to be able to draw/trace outlines of different shapes. So for example an "S" shape is on the screen, and the user needs to try to draw OVER that shape. So it's not just mouse recognition, it has to see if the user draw over that shape good enough. So it's kind of like a colorbook but you only draw the outline of the shape, if you know what I mean.

I've been searching the web and haven't found any pre made solution for this, but I thought that before I try to make it all from scratch I could ask you guys here about it.

Professional :: Animation - Trace Path - Changing The Speed Without Completely Rebuilding The Shape

Dec 29, 2011

I am looking to create the appearance of a shape being drawn. I need a few shapes, but for the example think of a simple U. I have tried several different approaches. First, I tried a shape tween at 45 degree increments. That was a wrong approach. Then I tried using After Effects, but the movies lacked flexibility and were laggy. Currently I am building the shapes using two shape tween MCs(an arc that goes 11.25 degrees and a line that goes 21px), and repeating it.

This seems to be working, but is very tedious, and lacks flexibility. i.e. if I decided I want the shape just a bit shorter I have to remove the MC incident from every frame. Also I have no possiblity of changing the speed without completely rebuilding the shape becasue I'm doing a frame by frame animation.

Actionscript 3 :: Irregular Shaped Gradiant Contour In Flash?

Jan 30, 2012

I am looking for a way to get a similar effect as posted in the Adobe forums The current solution is very brute force using about 60 intermediate shapes gradually going from the outer shape towards the inner shape while slightly changing the color each time.

[Code]...

particular problem, I only wanted to have a shape fade into the color of the background so my solution was to draw the image slightly larger than usual and use Flash's blur filter to create the gradient effect. This is suitable only because my background image is a solid color so this won't work for everybody. This is also a very cpu intensive method but is faster than drawing 60 shapes.

how to draw a character like Sprite, so that I can do whatever I want with it.I've seen FIVe3D, which has an automated system which exports an AS file with a description about each of the characters (so that they are represented as motifs - it gets the edges of the glyph and parses it into a script with simple actions as lineTo and curveTo).But this example uses JSFL in order to parse the font (jsfl has functions like contours, interior, getHalfEdge, getControl).

Actionscript :: Assemble Array Of Continuous Points For A Contour Line Using Conrec

Mar 31, 2011

I am trying to implement contour lines in ActionScript using Conrec. I have looked at both the java and javascript implementation and am still stuck.URL...Conrec will take grid data and assemble continuous contour lines. The problem is that it does not necessarily draw those lines in a continuous fashion. For example, it will draw A->B and then C->B and then C->D instead of A, B, C, D, etc.The javascript implementation seems to be accounting for this and serializing the instructions into an array of draw points. Which is what I too want to accomplish in the end. That is it takes the instructions from the core Conrec logic (eg: A->B, C->B, C->D, etc) and organizes it into an A, B, C, D series. I think it will also return the series as a multi-dimensional array to accommodate broken lines (eg: [[A, B, C, D], [E, F, G]]). This last functionality is what I need to do in Actionscript.This last part is where I am stuck. Ignore Conrec for now (I have given up on finding an Actionscript implementation), how can I organize these instructions into a collection of serial points? When Conrec gives me "draw point from X->Y" how can I first check if X or Y are already in a series and append either X or Y (whichever is not in the series) into the series? AND if neither are in the series, start a NEW series with X, Y as the starting set. Then check subsequent instructions against all existing series and connect series if they now start and stop on the same point? Also, I need to be able to allow for a series to close itself (eg: A, B, C, A) -- a loop (is that even possible?!).

I'm not sure if there is a technical term for what I want to do beyond "concatenation". I also hope someone out there has done this with Conrec and can give me some pointers.In the meantime, I am going to continue to plug away at this and see if I can come up with something but I am not confident in my abilities.If you know another way to draw contour lines from grid data, I am open to alternatives. But I have to be able to implement it in Actionscript.
