tool which can convert a flash (.swf) chart to any image format to be later embedded to a pdf report. I am using Ruby on Rails as the dev platform. I have used tools from swftools (specifically the swfextract program) but it doesn't suit my use case as it extracts individual elements (shapes, movieclips, frames etc) which is not too useful.

View 1 RepliesI need to build a web application in flash, the gist is the application takes users inputs and generates a network diagram based on that inputs. I actually coded the entire application in JS DOM and PHP GD, and client comes back suddenly saying they cant support PHP (IT restrictions). So now am back to square one, wondering, how to draw network images dynamically. JS cant do it. So I stumbled upon Actionscript. So if i were to code an application entirely in actionscript,
1. Does actionscript provide me a way to create input fields (select, text, textarea...etc)
2. Would i be able to use these user inputs from Question 1 to generate a network diagram?
3. Can actionscript do Question's 1 and 2 without needing support from a server side
scripting language like PHP?
I am doing below actions on button click in sequence, using javascript.

Everything is dynamic. chart is generated using Open flash chart and are dynamic using php Mysql
All working fine. Problem here is that is takes some time to generate flash chart. So it's creating a blank image or image in middle form flash file exporting it to PDF.
Is there a application (Or way in coldfusion/VB.net) to be able to convert a swf to a image file? It needs to be ok quality and needs not to be too slow.

There is one software named pop art studio, which generates such images. we have Image magic software with us, does image magic generates these sort of pop art images? i don't have much idea about Image magic.
one solution for this would have been, if these images were our images, then we would haven taken them as the separate parts of one image, and applied color transform or any other thing on those parts, and would have generated these sort of poparts displayed in the picture , but client requires this option on user uploaded images, so all this is not possible in that case.

I'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I'm trying to make chart which is combination of bar and line chart using Flex Charting API . Here x axis would be common and y axis would be different. note that y axis got different range of value one is % and other is amount. Any one got idea how to make this chart. Here line chart would be staked on top of bar chart . The line chart and never over laid or drawn on top of bar chart.

Now in Phase 2, instead of middleyear_txt.text being just a text number, I was hoping to make it into graphical digits.
So 2007 - 1997 = 10. I have 1 through 10.png, so I was hoping to find a way to make 1 = 1.png, 2 = 2.png, 3 = 3.png, 4 = 4.png, etc...
So Ive been working with Flash Pro CS5 and it seems I cant get the converting right with image formats into shape symbols. A couple days ago I did convert it correctly but now I cant remember how exactly I did it lol.
What Im trying to do is convert an image into a shape symbol then into a .gls format. When I import the working shape symbol in my SoThink Flash it would show up in the scene but now I cant recreate a working one as it would show up as a blank image.
Ive watched and read through some tutorials but Im confused on which order I should do the steps into converting an image into a symbol.
Btw.. if theres an easier way to convert an image into a .gls format I like to hear it as well

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to read out some BitMapData into some kind of readable output.
Reason for this is I'd like to trace out the ByteArray and hopefully cut and paste its details into an .as file and then compare it against another BitMapData Object or byteArray that is generated within the app.
Basically I want to compare differences between the two and report back how many pixels or something are different.
It might seem like a strange or approach.
I can create a BitMapData Object, it traces back as [object BitMapData] - so I thought awesome just loop through the Object... But looping through the Object traces nothing at all back out.
So I tried to create a ByteArray and then convert that to a string, but all I get is wierd 'y' chars with two dots on the top of the char.

View 2 RepliesI've seen alot of instructions online on how to assign a hyperlink to an image. Alot of them say to convert the image to a symbol first and then add the appropriate Actionscript code (getUrl). I'm just wondering if there is a way to do it without converting it to a symbol (converting it to a symbol seems to add an artifact to one of the borders of the pic). Does anyone know if this can be done? Or must all images be converted to symbols to get links assigned to them?

So far I can get the icon out as an Object by doing this: var iconImg:Object = myBtn.getStyle("icon"); Not sure how to convert that Object to an image.

It doesn't make sense becuase the simple images or complex images both leave a portion behind when rendering.The video plays perfectly in Flash. I tried importing it into iMovie and the same problem occurs.I don't even know what this is called so I can't seem to find any support on the issue

It's a simple midpoint displacement scheme, and it's almost working correctly. The problem i'm having is that the array i'm generating isn't sorting correctly. I need to sort it so that the drawing loop cycles through from left to right (on the x axis)... For some reason, it's not sorting points that are between [0] and [1] in my array. because the algo. is iterative, the problem snowballs the more iterations you run it for.
here's the code i'm working on. it's in 3 frames, and init frame to get it going, and then a loop in frames 2 and three (so that i can see the iterations as they're drawn out):

I'm making a picture gallery program and making it so that it takes images and resizes them to fit the proper thumbnail size, using onInit from the clip loader object and _xcale/_yscale. The problem is, the first time the thumbnail scrolls into the visible area, massive lag results; the app freezes for a solid half second until the thumbnail bar resumes scrolling. This does not happen with smaller pictures: apparently, Flash is being stupid and is reducing the size, but not the resolution, of the images. Is there a way to solve this problem other than
a) loading each thumbnail on the visible stage at first, then immediately repositioning into the bar (this would multiply load time substantially) or b) a server-side jpg resizer?
A bunch of us are trying to learn here at the office and we came up with a flash banner(very much duct taped on). We can not understand how to take the flash to display the number of buttons per the number of children in the xml... ie: 1, 2, 3, 4(slides or whatever). I've researched plenty on this forum but just can't get the flash to get past errors.
