Php :: Flex - Retrieving Base64 Encoded Image From Database?

Mar 23, 2011

I'm developing a flex application that displays a list of images along with some metadataThe images are less than 500kb. They are stored in the database as base64 encoded stringsretrieved using PHP, send over to flex as XML (which creates a fairly large XML output file)Now my problem is that, while I can display upto 2-3 images easily, anything more than 3 or sometimes 2 images will cause the images to be corrupt. Sometimes the whole app fails.I am guessing this is due to the large size of the generated XML. I know I am doing something wrong here. I want to know what is the proper method for storing/retrieving a lot of images in a flex application.

Database :: Why Flash / Flex RIA Choose Base64 XML Over AMF

Aug 10, 2009

I have recently been using Charles the debugging app. And noticed a very chatty app named skyrocket (a very very cool slide presentation app) sending a lot of data across the wire. It is built in flex by the looks and I was wondering why they had chosen to send their data using base64 and not amf. Is it because they don't want to be locked into the flash platform? Or could there be another reason. Is it to store it as XML in the database as they don't want to be dealing with amf when handing data to other services/clients (iPhone etc).

Flash :: #3115 Error When Retrieving Data From SQLite Database

Oct 4, 2011

I have this little piece of code to retrieve data from a local SQLite database (to an AIR app):

import flash.filesystem.File;
import flash.data.SQLConnection;
import flash.data.SQLStatement;

[Code]....

It is only a "proof of concept" piece of code and it "lives" in the first frame of the timeline of the Flash IDE. What happens? When I compile my SWF (AIR for iPhone), I get this error:

SQLError: 'Error #3115: SQL Error.', details:'no such table: 'background'', operation:'execute', detailID:'2013'

I created a basic db with a Firefox extension (SQLiteManager). What can cause this error? The table exists!

Flex - Opening A Base64 PDF In Javascript In IE6

May 3, 2011

In javascript, I have a variable which holds a pdf in base64 (the pdf is generated in flex and passed to js). I want to open it in the browser (ie I want the browser to display the open/save dialog box letting the user open or save the pdf).

I am using Data URI which works fine in some browsers, but is not supported in IE 6/7:

function getPdf(pdf) {
window.open("data:application/pdf;base64," +pdf);
}

How can I get this PDF to open in IE6 and 7? I've read about MHTML as an alternative to data uri but I don't think it can do what I need, or can it? For now I just need to open pdfs but in the future I will probably need to add support for xls (MS Excel) files too. Currently I'm using Flash's Filereference.save to let the user save the pdf to the disk then he can open it, but the client is insisting on giving the user a choice to open it automatically rather than forcing him to save it first.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Base-64 Encoded Image To Display In Flash

Dec 28, 2010

Flash will be receiving a Base-64 encoded image (from a web service) and need to convert & display that image on the stage.

For conceptual purposes, I'm omitting the web-service aspect for now and just reading in a Base-64 string, generated from an online service.

Now that I have the data into Flash, how do I properly convert it to an image and display it.

Database :: Approach Local Database Management Via Flex/Air App?

Jan 17, 2011

I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data.I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time.It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety,but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. Moreover, some type of encryption would definitely be welcome, and speed is a large concern

Synchronization: Primarily updates/additions/deletions will be done on the offline database, but ideally I want to have a web interface that will allow the same updates/additions/deletions and will be synced (beyond that I'm not sure exactly how to do it as I can model that based on what is most achievable).I'm wondering if there's any prebuilt engine that could handle the synchronization of 2 databases. I may end up having the web interface only be for additions, which would be significantly easier to sync.. and I may start that way, but i want to build with technologies that will best allow me to implement full online crud at some point.

Flex :: Flash - Dynamically Load Sound Object From Encoded Bytes?

Jul 20, 2009

I have a legacy file format that contains sounds embedded in it (in various encodings). I would like to be able to play these sounds in Flash (Air?) by reading the sound bytes out of the file and instantiating a Sound object with them.

If the sound is unencoded (e.g., raw pcm), I've found that I can use the new flex 4 SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA event to play the sound.

However, if the sound is encoded (e.g., mp3), then I'm at a loss. The sound expected by SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA has to be raw pcm. From what I've seen, encoded Sounds can only be instantiated by [Embed]ing them, or by using a URLRequest with Sound.load().

Flex :: Retrieving Mouse Events When Using Masks And Filters

Apr 6, 2011

im working on:[code]For more detailed comprehension: corner is the black corner with the (i) and 'Promotion', text is some random text that can be displayed in the white remaining space, container contains corner and text, and finally this class contains container!I need to retrieve the event mouseevent.rollover/rollout from corner.And what's wrong?

1. When I put the mask on container (container.rawchildren.addchildren + container.mask = mask) and the dropshadowfilter on container (container. filters = [glow]), I cannot detect the mouse events.

2. When I put the mask on the promopanel (this.rawchildren.addchildren + this.mask = mask) and the dropshadowfilter on promopanel (this.filters = [glow]), I cannot detect the mouse events.

3. When I put the mask in a component and the filter in another, it does not work either.

4. If I remove the mask OR the filter, it works!! But I need them both...

So, does anyone has an idea on how to make this work? I've been trying to look for issues with filters, masks and mouseevents but haven't found anything that could enlighten this issue.
