Php :: Xcode As An Alternative Of Flash?
Dec 20, 2011
We have developed a magazine reader which is basically PHP application. Admin panel is built in PHP but when any user wants to read a particular magazine, it is handled by Flash i.e. we are embedding the .swf object with HTML in PHP page. But flash is not supported in iPad/iPhone. So we want to create this application in Xcode so that user can read the magazine in iPhone/iPad also. There is confusion how it can be accomplished.

I am thinking of starting an ambitious project of writing some type of converter to convert the new Flash CS5 XFL format to some type of iOS readable format for building pages. A lot of what I do convert old Flash course over to native applications. They are usually very simple with some basic animations. Some are more complicated than others, obviously.
1) I recently found the XFL format and was wondering if anyone was doing this type of conversion?
2) Has adobe published this file specs yet? I haven't been able to find them, yet.
3) Is this even possible? Has anyone tried and been unsuccessful or would like to work together on this?

I've tried deleting certificates, provisions over and over. I've tried to export only the key, only the certificate and both of them. I extract the .ipa and compress it into an zip. I've tried everything but it doesn't seem to work.

Is there a way to force Xcode to recognize .as (ActionScript 3) files as source code? If I right click the file in the files and folders side bar I can only "Open As.." Preview or Hex. If I rename the file extension to something Xcode knows (.m), Xcode allows editing.

I am going to develop an application which will be cross platform and it will be released for IOS and Android. My App will be using network connectivity and communicate with the server and it has to be fast, reliable and responsive. So my Question is: If i choose Adobe Flex to build that app for IOS and Android, So will there be any performance issues? If no then why people use xcode or android sdk? What are the disadvantages of using Adobe Flex over xCode and Andoid SDK?

I'm instructed to develop a project in such a way that it is available for iOS, Android and Blackberry OS platform all at once. A herculean task!! indeed... I am searching for all the possible development platforms for this assignment. I came across Flex 4.5.1 and the initial thoughts are really positive. Somewhere in SO I read that flex applications suffer from code bloating problem. I dont want such solution; infact memory is an important concern for me. I want to know which one of the following is the optimum approach:
Developing using OS specific SDK i.e. xCode for iPhone, Andriod SDK for Android.
Developing using Flex builder and ignore code bloating.
Using Flash Builder and developing application in ActionScript.

I'm making a Flash app in Flash 10 and ActionScript 2.0 and need support for calling an EXE with some params and minimizing/close the application.
Neither Adobe AIR nor Zinc don't seem to support some code I made and I'm looking for a very simple alternative? Does anyone know about any?

I want the content of a local text file to become available inside JavaScript. I've achieved that using HTML 5 FileReader API, but this works only in Mozilla Firefox and Chrome now. I know that it is possible to create a cross-broswer solution using Flash. Is there any open-source project that do that?

I'm currently loading a remote swf through as3 (with a domain policy to allow all from that domain - the policy file can't be changed by myself), that i want to take a snapshot of. The problem is that the main swf that i load, is loading child swf's from another domain that does not have the allow all policy turned on.. This makes the snapshot feature call a "sandbox security" error. I'm wondering if there's an alternative to the bitmapdata draw function to still take a "snapshot" without conflicting the sandbox security.

Ok we all know that you can embed assets with Flex using the [embed] code.
But is there anyway to achieve something similar to this when working with only Flash?
For example:I need to create a class (that contains certain assets) that needs to be used in the Flash IDE, but I don't want to have to drop all the assets into the library for every Flash file that happens to use the class.

I am running into some real problems with importing a png and associating it with a movieclip.Basically I want an image (image1.png) to appear inside a blank movieclip on my stage called "image1". I need this to all run from the library and not from an external folder - thus this does not work for me : loadMovie ("image1. png", "ClickReveal.image1");Is this possible? Or do I absolutely have to run from an external folder or convert the png to a movieclip by hand and then use attachMovie? I am desperately trying to avoid those options. The reason is that I am building a template file here and the users need to be able to import their own images which may be called anything and need to pop into movieclips.

We have a project that has been built in Flash and as3. It is a video player of sorts that we want to fully customize. We have different images and color schemes that we want to be able to change very quickly. Right now we have config constants that we turn on and off for different schemes. And in the code there is a massive amount of different spots where the images and such are changed. When we create a new color scheme or whatever, we need to create a new config. Then we have to go through all of the code and put it in correctly.Basically any suggestions for how we can take the current flash project (maybe flex?) and make it customizable a lot quicker.

I'm building a website at the moment and in the design it shows a scrollwheel in the form of this example.I've got no problem creating this using something like scrollable or some other similar plugins, however, they don't allow you to click and drag through the images and "flick" them in such a way as the flash example. Do you know of any plugins that allow you to do this, or even know how to modify something like Scrollable to do this?

I have previous experience with AS3, but not so much in web development. now I want to install a game in facebook, but since im very uninformed,i'm having a bad time chossing the best option. I have three alternatives to integrate my flash app in facebook.Adobe actionscript API: Until now, I tried it and worked for me to log in , get friends, and that kinda of basic. Has a ton of problems and bugs, and i decided to switch.
FMBS seems to be the best option, according to most people feedback in forums, but it's going to be deprecated and i don't want to invert effort and time in an option that is going to be dipossed. What do i have left ?, iframe ? Javascript ?

I'm looking for a way around using flash for video's on a site. Any suggestions for something that might work across multiple browsers that isn't flash based? HTML5 seems promising, but I need something with more browser acceptance. I'm trying to avoid having to serve up difference video's based on user agents.

my web site is based on pop-ups... which i am thinking now was pretty stupid as most people seem to have pop-up blockers. Well i havnt got the time at the moment to change the whole site, but perhaps some one could tell me an alternative way of loading the first flash screen (after the index html page), centered and with no boarders from the initial screen.

What I am after is some code that will load an alternative page if the user doesn't have flash installed - I think its using the onload code in the html of the flash page. "I've figured out how to load an alternative page using "onload" as part of the body tag if no flash player is found" - alas he is not around to post it though.

I've tried all kinds of different ways to detect flash, and provide alternative content where the viewer doesn't have or doesn't want to download flash player. I want the viewer to see alternate static content on the same page if they don't have flash. I just can't seem to find the one definitive answer that works every time! I tried: [URL] but this seems to require installation of Adobe AIR which I have no idea what it is!

I`m designing a site with an interactive header created in Flash. how to display an alternative image (a .png) in it`s place if a user doesn`t have the Flash Player? Of course, this is especially important for visitors using iPhones! The site logo is part of the Flash movie, which makes it all the more important that something is displayed in the movie`s place. I`ve heard their are ways of doing it with Javascript, but is this really necessary?

I have been given the task of creating an Autorun installer for a distributable CD, and thought I would challenge the task with Flash. In previous versions of flash it was possible to use fscommand and trickery to run other local exe files, but due to virus creators and what-not, this has been reworked and totally destroyed for others to use. So as a Flash developer I have hit a bit of a brick wall with this, and am asking out for any alternative ideas anybody may have?
Just as a heads up for what features are required: GUI with simple graphics/buttons Ability to launch external exe/pdf files must be able to be compiled to an exe, which can be launched by any windows machine without installing third party software eg Java. The only simple solution I have thought of is making an html page, but using a browser is something I want to avoid doing!

I have a site I have created for a client which features a flash header image, the only problem is he accessed a draft of the site on his iPhone and was put off by the fact it didn't display any of the head image as it was an iPhone (which as we know are not flash happy!). Also, I would need this anyway incase the visitor has flash turned off or uninstalled (I have provided the usual 'install flash' link when flash isn't displayed). Is there a way I can do this with just HTML/CSS or will I have to use JS or something similar?I have tried adding tags but this does nothing.
<div id="container">
<div id="header"><a href="index.html"><img src="images/logo.jpg" width="214" height="50" alt="Tom Frost - Personel Trainer in Leeds, West Yorkshire" style="border:none;"/></a></div>[code].........
Obviously my flash image is in the title_box div.
