Xml :: Object Not Throwing Exception If Invalid Data Is Given?
Feb 24, 2011
I remember darkly that the XML class in AS3 would throw an exception if you tried to give it data in it's constructor that was not a valid XML string. But now I got a case where the XML happily takes every kind of data no matter it's valid XML or not...
var xml:XML;
try
{[code]...
... doesn't throw any exception. qname seems not to be null. WTH?
I have a problem with creating instances from classes created from embedded data taken from an external .swf which has loaded into its library various images exported to ActionScript as BitmapData.What confounds me is that, of 22 images that I'm loading, 14 of them work fine and can be instantiated and displayed to the screen in a test program. The rest of them throw Error #2136, "The SWF file contains invalid data."I'm using Flash CS4 with Flex 3.4.
----- Attached is a .zip of a few files: library_tester.fla - contains the code for testing the library Assets/GridGame/grid_Library.fla - contains the library
[code]....
Right now, the code in library_tester hits the error when it attempts to create Logo after creating two other variables set onto the stage.
I've been fighting with this backwards and forwards and haven't identified the problem:I have three frames that I want the user to page through with forward/backward buttons. Three frames means 4 buttons, two forward buttons and two back buttons:[code]What it does is, the lets m press the first Next button and does go to the second frame, but it throws the following error and the other buttons don't work:[code]Why can't I shake this thing? Is there a better way altogether?
Simple to understand problem, hoping for similarly easy solution:When I type in my search query, I sometimes get the "Error #1009 Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference" on the dataField = new ArrayCollection(result.data); line.
I am getting runtime error #2136 'The SWF file at %1 contains invalid data' (I know, %1 is a reference to the file producing the error) All I did was change some button graphics to movie clip types and have solved all the type mismatch and other syntax errors. This is a file I have been working on and posting about. This is getting annoying. What would be causing this type of error??
I am trying to make a game like the escape game you might have seen on the internet. I have got all the movement pretty much sorted its just I cannot get the game to restart. I am relatively new the AS3 so bear with me on this. I have a Main class, an enemy class, a player class and a button class. The button class creates the restart button and from the main class, when certain conditions are met, an event listener is added to this button instance to say "on click... do this...". I do not no what to put to make it reset the game however. I have tried to clear all the objects when the game is over but I cannot get the game to restart on click. I figured if I can just add a new Main class instance then the game would be reset but I cannot seem to do it...
This is where I figured I needed to create a new instance of the main class but it just won't work. It comes up with an invalid data error in the output panel. By this point in the program, practically every object has been removed from the stage and display list and the game is over and is ready to be reset...
I have two classes. One is my Document Class, and another extends my Document Class. It doesn't work, and gives me this error "Error #2136: The SWF file MyGame.swf contains invalid data."
I built a little game in the spare time.I've a DocumentClass and four other classes. Once I realized I could not restart the game when finished playing, I thought I should create a new instance of the main class (DocumentClass) to launch it again.The problem is that, by doing so, I get Error #2136,"The SWF file contains invalid data". What happens?
I'm trying to refactor a package name (pretty near the root of the project hierarchy), and I'm getting the following error (flash builder 4): A fatal error occurred while performing the refactoring An unexpected exception occurred while creating a change object. See the error log for more details. The log file looks like this.... !ENTRY org.eclipse.ltk.ui.refactoring 4 10000 2010-09-30 10:57:25.134
In my application I have a video playing from a NetStream. Every second on timer I update a text label with statistics like stream.info.currentBytesPerSecond. The problem occurs when the NetConnection associated with this NetStream closes: the getter for stream.info throws
I'm creating a small app to run from CD-Rom/local installation that will use multiple shared objects for data storage. To ensure proper saving without surprising the user with a permissions dialog unexpectedly, I'd like to request unlimited data storage on first time app launch - Joey Lott shows how to do this in the Actionscript Cookbook... request=mySO.flush(1024 * 500);
My question is,Can I perform this permissions request with the user a single time with a generic app SO in global fashion, so that the permissions would be set for any SOs created during the use of the product (all written to same SO directory),or do I have to request permissions for each and every SO created? Since the latter would be unacceptable from a UE standpoint, that means stuffing all app data into a single SO which doesn't seem so great from a data config perspective...
I'm having a little difficulty when it comes to getting objects ready for garbage collection.
I have some dynamically created movieclips.
Within each clip, I have a combo box and a close button. When the user clicks the clsoe button, it runs a function that removes all the event listeners for the close button and combo box, and removes the parent clip from stage. I also want to make the parent clip null, and this is where I get an error. I'm not sure how to tell Flash "make the parent of the close button clip = null.[code]...
I'm using a loader for people to use to upload their own images for a background, and I want it to remember the image the next time they come to the page, so is there any way to save the loader data in a shared object? I haven't tried just using something like
I am getting an error which says "ArgumentError: Error #1063: Argument count mismatch on bingo_game9_AS3_fla::MainTimeline/get_link(). Expected 0, got 1."
When trying to access a web page from Flash. The movie clip on the stage is called "link_mc" btn_over, btn_out etc. works fine. It just changes the size of the mc when mouse is over using functions elsewhere.
I am using the ExternalInterface to communicate between Flash and JavaScript using callbacks and the call method. I would like to throw an exception in ActionScript 3.0 and catch it in JavaScript and I was wondering if there was anyway to do that?
i'm using flash with box2D 2.1a. i'm rotating ball hanging on the string. The path which the rotating ball trace is ellipse. When releasing the rotating ball from the string i want the ball to fly with the obtained direction, velocity and strength. As you can see in the pictures.[URL]..I've tried to do it with setPosition (method of b2Body) and with various joints. But I haven't got the needed results.
I have an air application, in which the user types javascript in a textarea, and it is eval'd in an mx:HTML component, but even with try/catch around the eval, and around the code in the eval, and an HTMLUncaughtScriptExceptionEvent handler, it still throws an error. htmlWindow is html.htmlLoader.window.
I've got a loader that I put an event listener on for Event.COMPLETE. I then add it as child of the stage and call the load method. The swf it's loading appears on the stage, but the Event.COMPLETE listener is never called. I can attach a MouseEvent.CLICK event to the loader and that works just fine.
Could you please explain how to disable this unnecassery, bogus, and semantically invalid behavior of the network communication classes when it receives a 0 valued byte? (specifically the Socket class.)
I am creating a flash game for iPhone using Flash CS5, Everything runs smoothly when creating swf via Ctrl+Enter. But when I am attaching .p12 and provisioning profile files and publish the FLA for generating .ipa there is an error thrown by the compiler that is:
"Incorrect number of arguments, Expected no more than 0" private static function closestVertexOnOBB(p:Vector, r:RectangleParticle):Vector { var d:Vector = p.minus(r.samp); var q:Vector= new Vector(r.samp.x, r.samp.y); for (var i:int = 0; i < 2; i++) { [Code] .....
I'm having a nightmare - always at the last minute of the project Flash craps out...
I have stripped all the actionscript from the file, but the animated sprites cause the following error throughout the timeline (about 5/6 times) [url]...
I changed two main elements to buttons, then back to movie clips via the library panel and the properties window. Could this 'break' the objects?
I am working on an old as2 project. I noticed that my import calls are not getting updated, so I decided to create a bogus import ... import junk; ... which should throw an error
I'm trying to have a bullet Sprite remove itself from the stage once it is off the stage, but Flash keeps throwing #1009 errors at me. I've looked over the code several times and don't understand what's wrong.
Bullet code: package { import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.events.*; public class Bullet extends Sprite { private var bullet_direction; [Code] .....
Error message: Code: TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. at Bullet/DestroyBullet() at Bullet/BulletMovement()
What can I use to check if a movieclip has been added to the stage yet without flash throwing a bunch of errors at me? For example, I have a movieclip with the instance name(mcONE) on my stage. And I'm currently using this bit of code to check if it's on the stage
I converted a standalone Flex app into a module. Now that it's a module, when I login (and call the backend services), I'm getting a security sandbox violation. The login handler throws this fault String: 'Send Failed', with a more descriptive: 'Channel.Connect.Failed error NetConnection. Call. Failed: URL....Then the FB console throws an 'unhandled security sandbox violation error'.Can converting an app into a module cause a sandbox violation?
I need to create a small dice game in Flash. The random number generator is external and I have to create a 3D realistic dice animation with that outcome. I'm using Away3D engine and JigLib for physics. So far the best idea I've had is to do many simulations and create a list of outcomes and their corresponding input parameters (initial position, initial orientation and the forces added to the RigidBody). This is not working so well. Sometimes for the same parameters the outcome is different. What is the best way to do this?
I was trying the flickr code provided in the learnwebsite, and I am getting this exception:
[RPC Fault faultString="Error #1090: XML parser failure: element is malformed." faultCode="Client.CouldNotDecode" faultDetail="null"] at mx.rpc.http::HTTPService/http://www.adobe.com/2006/flex/mx/internal::processResult()
