My basic need is the ability to show a flash video only once per browser session without using Server-side technologies to track the session.
I originally tried using Shared Objects and they work well, but I could not figure out how to make them expire when the browser session ended. I could set a date variable in the Shared Objects and play the video again if the current date was more than an hour (or 30 minutes or whatever) past the previous play time, but I would rather have the shared object "expire" when the browser session ended.
Cookies could provide this functionality, but I have been having trouble retrieving Javascript based cookies in Flash (using getURL and document.cookie). If you do not set an expiration on Javascript cookies, they will expire when the browser session ends.
Here's the code I have been trying to get working for Javascript cookies in Flash:

The SetCookie function works, but the GetCookie function is always returning an empty sting.
I've tried JWPlayer from my app (C#). It works well, but I can't seem to find cookie support. I need to send a cookie or else the server will return 403 Forbidden. Is there any commercial flash player with cookie support (or I'm missing something in JWPlayer's doc)

I have a flash movie, which has two frames and constantly loops. On the first frame I have set my variable, and on the next frame I make it add 1 to that variable. Thing is, the variable is currently being set to "0" on frame one, added one, then set back "0" again as it goes back to the first frame. Is there a way, without adding extra frames to set a variable on Load but then to not set it again?

I've been trying to communicate flash and javascript some time now, but I can't get Javascript to send variables to flash, just the other way around. When the .swf is done loading, it succesfully triggers the "isReady" function in Javascript, but when i try to trigger the "sendToFlash" function in Flash(via javascript), nothing happens.
"thisMovie("myID").sendToFlash(toFlash);" this is the code I can't get to work, as you see I tried these to as well;

The following bit of javascript writes and retrieves a cookie which counts a users visits to the page. Then using swfobject it both embeds main_banner.swf and passes the cookie value "visits" to it via flashvars. The trouble is in the actionscript below; the vallue has been passed (this is certain, because the .swf shows up rather than the alternative content)- but the .swf is stuck on the first frame rather than processing the cookie and sending the user to the appropriate frame label.

I'm trying to pass the contents of variable playnoyes to the long line of code below to decide whether or not to autoplay the flash movie, but doing it as I have below, the resultant line of code has the variable in quotes and therefore the code doesn't execute it as expected. My question is, how can I pass the variable so that the resulting line of code doesn't have the quotes around the variable value.

I have a flash SWF that passes a variable as a parameter to a javascript function in my HTML page. Somehow I need to put that value of that parameter into a global variable I can use outside the html javascript function that actually receives it from the SWF function that passes it. Ultimately I will store that value in a hidden form field in the HTML so I can reuse it elsewhere.
Using an alert box, I can see my desired variable data is being passed by the AS2 function but I can't figure out a way to access it from outside the javascript function. trying to get a variable set so that I can use it in another class.I am trying to set the class variable animate. My "intended" goal is that I am trying to load in an external SWF file that is a pulley In this external SWF file I have a function that stops the animation called "stopAnimation()". I want to be able to access this stopAnimation function in a couple of class files.
