I want to create music Visualization in flash by reading the musicXML file.Is there some sort of a class that reads it? or a help guide to understand the musicXML structure and how to use it in order to visualize its music?

once. The XML file is being created dynamically so its getting larger but flash only displays first value for variabel VALUE.
I need to read data from a file after a user has selected a file using a file browser, for a Flex web app (NOT AIR). I know this is possible in Flash 10 using the FileReference class load and data methods. But using Flash 10 is not an option for me. So does anyone know of anyway I can do this in Flash 9?

View 1 RepliesI have a main swf file and config.xml located in the same directory. My .swf file uses config.xml to fetch config variable which it does with success.The problem appears when I put those files into Flex directory. I embed .swf file like this.

I also place config.xml into /blobs/visualLogo/
This time I get an error in Flex:

I have a flash movie that I need to read in a value from a PHP script in order to set which frame it starts from, I am using the following code:

The problem is this is not working - it won't get into the load event. If I run the PHP manually I get "&pageID=29". If I debug this locally I get "Who: undefined" in the trace output window. This method reads a file from server and then display its content. The file which is getting read is a log file which gets updated at regular interval. The issue is once some content read by AS then it is not getting updated that means after every execution of the function content of src variable below remains same even thou the source file is updated.

i discovered a problem - if you view 'about.swf' - when you click on 'history' link, you can see that the text is distorted. this text is read from the xml file. but is you click on the 'key people' link, you can see that the text appears perfectly. this text is embedded in the flash itself.

It is for a voting system, so the first variable would be a counter that is incremented each time a user votes, and the second would be the total rating. The average rating would then be calculated from these.
How would one store, retrieve, and then update these variables from the data file?
I can create the system within a single Flash file for a single session, but obviously I'd like multiple users opening the file simultaneously to be able to access the data and update it.
i'm trying to perform simple automated test on my Adobe Air Application. I decide to store some test data in external MS Excel file to decrease hardcode quantity. But I discovered, that this is not a trivial task, when you're working with Adobe Air.
Actually, i need to correct initialize an excelApp object, the rest part of logger is already implemented. I tried the following approach, but I can't find a package with ActiveXObject class defined.

View 1 RepliesI have some class that I created visually in Flash Professional CS5 by transferring drawn result into a MovieClip and extorting symbol into AS code. Now, I want to add some properties to the class. To be more specific, I've created Ball class and want to add to it variables that will represent vertical and horizontal speeds. How can I edit the class in order to do it? Also, when I wanted to add some visible external element to the class, at first I decided to add MovieClip property in the code itself, but then recalled method .addChild() that worked perfectly for me. Now, I can't do the same with non-visible properties. So, what is the difference between adding visible elements using .addChild() and adding them in the code itself?

Do I create an instance of that data and pass it to a sprite and add the sprite to the stage so I can display the image when I compile the file into a swf? Ive tried that and get an error saying that I need two arguments. I guess im just not sure what to do with the bitmapdata class.

User visits my web page A token is generated on the server and stored in the database Token is then saved in LSO User leaves the site (maybe shuts down his computer) and comes back later Token is read, located in the database and the user is recognized (lets say that token is a foreign key that links to other user data stored in the db)
