ActionScript 1/2 :: OnPress Event - Roll Off A MovieClip For It To Respond Again?

Sep 22, 2009

I have a scrollBar movieClip inside an interface that is not always responding to the onPress event. Sometimes, it works fine, and sometimes I have to roll off of the scrollBarMC for the cursor to change back to the finger and respond to the onPress event. Other times, it responds more than once to the event on just one click.

I realize that there could be other issues within my interface's code, however, when I trace my function calls they seems to not execute or execute more than once. Has anyone else ever run across such an issue with the  movieClip.onPress event? Below is the code for the scrollBar mc. Anyone see something glaring?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Flash - Using Nested Movieclips - Do Not Respond To Roll Overs

Aug 9, 2010

In my ongoing quest to learn AS3 I am rewriting some of the many, many interactives I have done in AS2. There have been several AS2 interactives where I have used a map of California. The map itself is a movieclip and within that movieclip, all the counties are movieclips that function as buttons and above the counties are the county names which are also movieclips. In other words when you mouse over the counties they do things; the most simple being the county name alpha goes from 0 to 1. In AS2 all the movieclips respond to roll overs even though they are physically obscured by other movieclips within the main map movieclip.

In AS3 the county movieclips (which are on the lowest layer within the main map movieclip) are obscured by other movieclips on higher layers and do not respond to Roll Overs etc. When I move the county movieclips to the highest layer within the main map movieclip, they work just fine. Of course then they obscure all the map details such as roads, labels, etc. Is there some setting to allow movieclips to be read through other movieclips that are physically above them within a main movieclip.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Cancel Roll Out Event Upon Roll Over Of Different Clip?

Aug 17, 2009

I have MovieClip A on stage, that when the user rolls over it another MovieClip (B) is added above it to the stage (it's not added as a child of Movieclip A). Now, when the user rolls over this newly added clip, it triggers the roll out event of the clip 'below' it. So, how can I prevent this from happening ?Basically, it's a movieclip that displays a button when rolled over and hides it when rolled out. I need the roll out NOT to be triggered when the user rolls over movieclip B.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Basic Event Listener Mouse Event ROLL OVER

Aug 20, 2009

This is a very basic question but I can't seem to find an answer. I have a mouse over event and have created the buttons with the mouse overs which is working great. I created the actionscript to go to a specific web page when a user clicks the button. Now, I need to add a label to the mouse over so when someone mouse's over any area of the button, it will show them a particular name for the button.

I am sure that this can be done using actionscript in a mouse event roll over command but I can't figure out what I need to show the text. Here is where I am:

Here's my Event class:

ActionScript 1/2 :: OnPress Event Function Not Getting Triggered

Jan 10, 2010

I have created different buttons on different movieclip. Then i assigned onPress event on each buttons. But the function of onPress event is not triggered. The arrangement of movieclips is following.

var mainMC:MovieClip = _root.createEmptyMovieClip("mainMC",0);
mainMC._alpha = 0;
var adImgMC:MovieClip = mainMC.createEmptyMovieClip("adImgMC",0);
var offerMC:MovieClip = mainMC.createEmptyMovieClip("offerMC",1);
var offerList:MovieClip = offerMC.createEmptyMovieClip("offerList",0);
[Code] .....

I have created an event as follows:
offerList.onRollOver = function(){
offerList.stopTween();
clearInterval(autoScrlTimer);
} offerList.onRollOut = function(){
duration = 0;
autoScrlTimer = setInterval(automaticScroll,duration);
ovrFlag = true
}
I doubt that the onPress event is not working because of the above piece of code.

ActionScript 2.0 :: OnClip Event Button Script - Stop Action As Well As An OnPress / OnRelease

Nov 20, 2006

I have a set of 5 text buttons that I want to alter slightly with actionscript. An OnClip event moves the 5 text buttons onto the screen, then each button has a stop action as well as an OnPress/OnRelease that rotates it from black text to blue text and rolls back to black text again. I just need it to be black text to blue and stop when the viewer clicks the link to go to an HTML page.

How would you code it so that the text button rolls from black to blue and stays BLUE for the selected HTML page as long as the user is on it, letting them know where they are in the site's navigation. The sample code from button 1 is below:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Add Roll Over Functionality To Via An Event Listener?

Jun 29, 2011

I'm creating a custom charting component that renders 100 +/- rectangles in a UIComponent, each of which represents 1%. So, basically a piechart with boxes instead of pie slices.On top of each rectangle, I'm rendering a transparent Sprite that I need to add roll over functionality to via an event listener.The final event handler will fire a custom tooltip.

I'm trying to add these event listeners recursively as I iterate through the dataprovider (ArrayCollection) for my chart. The event registers, however, the value I'm trying to pass the event handler is the first value in the iteration and doesn't seem to register subsequent values. Does anyone have experience adding event listeners recursively like this? Can anyone recommend a better way of accomplishing this task?

Code:

private function buildCubes():void {

var i:Number = 0;
var x:Number = 0;[code]......

But my trace in the onPress event does not show.I'm under the impression that my mcGrid has a 0x0 width and height. When I trace the mcGrid._width in the bottom it outputs "0" so maybe that's why it is not working? Here is my code:

Flash - Listener In Main Document Class For Custom Dispatch Event From Another Class Does Not Respond Or Call Function?

Apr 1, 2011

I have a document class called Main.as In the class constructor I have the following listener:

enter code here
var listeningFORModeChangeToStudent:Sprite = new Sprite;
listeningFORModeChangeToStudent.addEventListener(TellAllModeChangeToStudent.STUDENT,exp);
addChild(listeningFORModeChangeToStudent);

In a third class I make a call to the despatcher in the previous class:

enter code here
var ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent:TellAllModeChangeToStudent = new TellAllModeChangeToStudent;
ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent.tellAllModeChangeToStudent();

I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?
