ActionScript 2.0 :: DuplicateMovieClip - Add A OnRelease Event To A Duplicated MovieClip It Does Not Seem To Respond
May 14, 2006
I have created a MovieClip in the library that consist of buttons, graphics and other MovieClips. When the movie starts I attach this movie clip to a newly createdEmptyMovieclip like so
[Code]....
So all that works fine, except when I add a onRelease event to a duplicated MovieClip it does not seem to respond. So I was wondering if the duplicateMovieClip function does not copy the button inside the original MovieClip. The code for the button is
I have a scrollBar movieClip inside an interface that is not always responding to the onPress event. Sometimes, it works fine, and sometimes I have to roll off of the scrollBarMC for the cursor to change back to the finger and respond to the onPress event. Other times, it responds more than once to the event on just one click.
I realize that there could be other issues within my interface's code, however, when I trace my function calls they seems to not execute or execute more than once. Has anyone else ever run across such an issue with the movieClip.onPress event? Below is the code for the scrollBar mc. Anyone see something glaring?
I cannot find a solution anywhere for this issue. Searching the forum yields: "The following words are either very common, too long, or too short and were not included in your search: name"
Anyway, the thing is this.
I duplicate a movieclip several times, which is a button, and name the instances c0, c1, c2, etc. I want to use substring to extract the number behind this name when someone clicks on one of these buttons. I have the following function in the button:
As you may guess, I need the number in the variable x. However, the pointer "this" apparently points to the level this button is on (_level0), and not the button itself. So "this._name" gives me nothing.
My question to you all is, how do I obtain the buttons instance name the user has clicked on? Or for that matter, any other property. How do I address the button itself, from the on(XXXX) function?
It seems like the random variables in my duplicated movieclips are all the same, any way to change this? To explain a bit more in detail: I got a movieclip with a few random variables and actions and I duplicate this movieclip and want the duplicate to have different random variables than the first one, but it gets identical ones.
I'm trying to remove a onRelease event for a movieclip of mine. The action is defined in the movie's class file like so:
Code: private function onRelease():Void { delete this.onRelease; trace ("test"); }
Unfortunately this doesn't seem to be removing the onRelease events, and whenever I click on the button it traces "test". Is there some other way to remove onRelease events when they are applied through a class? When I use the above method out of the class definition all is fine, like this:
Now, the duplication works great, all books get placed well, BUT I'm having trouble with setting the variable id inside of the newly attached movieclip _root.shelf["book" +j] so I can later on use it on my onRelease function.
If you have a movie clip and assign to it via the onClipEvent (Load) OR simply the movieclip.onLoad a whole bunch of data (properties of that movieclip):
When you duplicate that movieclip, does it duplicate all the actionscript contained within?
I've got an app where numerous Sprite objects are being placed on the stage, and then when an event occurs (mouse click most likely) I want all the Sprites to move, independently, based upon an algorithm that each Sprite has. I can't get the Sprite objects to respond to the event; I get no errors.
Here's my Event class: package { import flash.events.Event; public class MyCustomEvent extends flash.events.Event { public static const CONTROL_TYPE:String = "moveThem"; [Code] .....
The situation: - some radio buttons on the stage (design time, flash GUI) - A quiz class What I want: - create a RadioButtonsGroup in the quiz class (not with the flash GUI) - assign all the radios to that group (radio.group = myGroup) - respond to the CHANGE event It seems not to work. The group gets created (all the radios of that group are indipendent from the others on the stage), but it doesn't respond to the event.
I'm loading an image into a blank_mc within a movieclip called 'background_mc' using the MovieClipLoader object; when the onLoadInit for the MovieClipLoader object is fired, i then attempt to clone my 'backgound_mc' object and the loaded image it contains so i can do something with it (i,e a funky masky/blur thing, not important right now)I'm successfully loading my image into the blank clip within background_mc, the onLoadInit behaviour fires and duplicates background_mc once the image has been loaded, but in a disappointing turn of events, my clone of background_mc no longer has an image attached, and has instead reverted back to it's original form, just as ti was before it had the jpeg image loaded in.
I have the movie clip "movie" in my library and the button "btn" on the stage.Now everytime I release "btn", I want to add "movie" to the stage and have it play from predetermined coordinates (let's say _x = 20, _y = 20)...So far, I've tried
Actionscript Code: on (release) {duplicateMovieClip("movie", "movie2", 1);}
but that doesn't do the trick because it doesn't multiply the displayed movies.Everytime you release "btn", "movie" breaks off and restarts,I want it to finish its animation and have ANOTHER one spawn at the origin...
I am trying to do panning of a movieclip I have two movieclips on stage. canvasPanel_mc and mask_mc. The former is the maskee for the mask (mask_mc). Inside mask_mc there is a movieclip dragCanvas_mc. The alpha of dragCanvas_mc is set to zero. This is code that I am using:
why this code dosent work at the same time in the timeline, and why only envent put inside the attacHMovies or duplicated Movies work, if i put them in the forr loops they dont work.
I'm amended a AS2 movie, which is a rotating banner add movie. In this movie there is a button which is always visible throughout the movie. I need to add a onRelease behaviour onto this button, so that it can call a JavaScript function when clicked.
I'm new to Flash, I have done some Flex work, but no Flash. How can I add the onRelease behaviour to the button and have it available through out the movie. I know how to convert the button to a movie clip and add the onRelease behaviour but it only lasts one frame, how do I make available through out?
I got a problem with dynamicaly assigning the onRelease event on my buttons.
I got about 45 buttons and I don't want to create 300 lines of code just to create each of the onRelease events on them so I thought about using a loop (for) to pass through them and assigning the onRelease event. This is what I got and thought would work:
[Code].....
Unfortunately, it does go to "salle" (which is a frame), but the CURRENT_SECTION variable is always set to 43! I can't understand why it would give me 43 on any of the section buttons I click (which ranges from 1 to 42). how I could make this work? I don't like having too much codes in my Flash (I've been using a hell load of loops to make it cleaner).
Basically, I want it to check if a link is assigned (image[p][1]), and if it is, create an onRelease handler for that image. (This is a rotating image slideshow).
Thus far, this code will check to see if the link is assigned and will create the onRelease handler when an image loads that has a link assigned via XML.
The only problem is, it does not remove the onRelease handler when the image rotates to the next image.[code]...
I have a movieclip, "holder", that has a lot of movieclips contained inside of it. I am trying to duplicate "holder", as well as all of the movieclips inside of it and create a 2nd movieclip called "holder2". Below is an example of the problem I am having. The movieclip "holder2" is created, but it does not duplicate the movieclip "box" that is inside of "holder". Is it possible to do this using duplicateMovieClip? If not, is there another way of accomplishing the same thing?
I'm creating an image gallery and the below code is what I have come up with to create a 'container' movieclip which dynamically adds a number of thumbnails, each as a separate movie clip, one after another vertically inside the container (which is contained inside a 'main' movieclip - note the existence of mc1 is to enable me to mask the container - this is worknig so you can disregard it).(Note the number of clips is currently hardcoded to 7)
Code: image = new Array(); //array of movie clips to be contained imgLink = new Array();
I'm working on a site where I'm using an onRelease event handler. Within the onrelease I have a couple different actions that need to happen. For example, when I click on a button I want an image to move up, then move to the right and then call gotoAndPlay (frame) I can do all of these actions, but they all happen at once. Basically I just want the animation to happen first and then have it goto frame 20 when the animation is complete...
I have a document class called Main.as In the class constructor I have the following listener:
enter code here var listeningFORModeChangeToStudent:Sprite = new Sprite; listeningFORModeChangeToStudent.addEventListener(TellAllModeChangeToStudent.STUDENT,exp); addChild(listeningFORModeChangeToStudent);
[code]....
In a third class I make a call to the despatcher in the previous class:
enter code here var ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent:TellAllModeChangeToStudent = new TellAllModeChangeToStudent; ThisTellAllModeChangeToStudent.tellAllModeChangeToStudent();
I have trace statements in eveything and from this I know the despatcher in TellAllModeChangeToStudent is being called.The problem is that the listener in the main.as is not calling the function exp.I cant see why and I dont know how to check if the listener is actually seeing the dispatch event?
Well i have some labels at my timeline and i pass them as an array. The problem is at the onRelease event. It returns undefined. I cant figure out how to solve it.
