I created on stage 4 text-input fields and a "next" button. I have to check that all 4 text-fields are not empty so the user wouldn't be able to click on the "next" button if one of this fields is blank. here's the code i've tried without success, the program got stacked in a loop:

I have this input text field in which the user inputs a string of sentences into it. I need it to be able to read any string that is typed into it regardless of whether it is upper or lowercase.
I have text input boxes. There is validation for each of the boxes using numberValidator. Now, the thing is that am using alert box to show if any error occurs.
Flowchart ::
1> Insert value in textBox.
2> NumberValidator validates the input on "trigger=change".
3> If error, alert message is displayed. The user clicks OK to go back to form.
4> Focus set back to the TextBox.
5> But, alert box makes the text input value blank / null. i.e. Both the previous error value entered by user and the default correct value will not be displayed now.
Display the most recent correct value that was entered in the text box. Not the default of any other, but the most recent correct value entered by the user.
I have a form with a horizontal layout and with this TextInput: <s:TextInput id="platformNameTI" showErrorSkin="true" showErrorTip="true"/> I have a simple validator that just checks if there is something entered (required field). My problem is as the layout is horizontal, when an error occurred (required file missing), all form items are shifted because of the error icon. Is there a way to delete that annoying icon or force the component to not display it?

The basic gist is that it runs throught the input box and checks if the letters are in the array,and if they are it adds 1 to temp2 then at the end it checks how many characters are in the input box, and if they equal == temp2 then it goes to the next scene, else it says "Please....etc" The PROBLEM is that if the user types in a letter twice, such as " HELLO" then the code only counts 1 L instead of 2 L's. so then it throws out the sum because it wont be correct.

I've created a custom textInput componenet that handles it's own validation using a private validator. The validation is enabled depending on the state of the component i.e. validation is enable when the components state is "edit".However, when the state changes from edit the internal validator is set to not enabled but the validation errors on the textbox do not clear - the textInput still has the red border and on mouseover the validation errors come up. What I want to happen is that when a validator is disabled the error formatting and error messages clear from the text input control.
Does anyone have any idea how to do this I tried setting the internal validator instance to enabled = false and dispatching a new focusOutEvent as below but the validation error formatting is still applied to the textInput contrl.

The input_1 box has a 13 character limit. My initial font size is 200, i want to scale down so when the user types 10 letters they fit the box and they don't go out of screen. I want to use one line, so wrap or multiline is not possible.

I'm trying to extend the text input that comes in flex to support an icon, just like mac os x search text input has a grey circle aligned to the right, the text input has a addChild method, but it didn't work for me.
the last of many problems, is that at the very end of the test, you're shown your score, and you have the option to type your name in a text box and click "save". Doing so will apply you score data (time elapsed, date, correct answers and percentage) along with the name you typed in, and output in a form, that you can save or print off, or whatever. The problem is, the input text box will not let you type in it. If you mouse over it, the mouse stays a pointer, you don't get the text tool. If you click on it, the cursor appears for a split second after you release the mouse button, but you cannot type anything in it.This is the actionscript for the output form:

i created an input text box that puts the users input into a global variable, but when i test it it gives me not only what i have typed in but all the html formatting for the font that my input text box has on it.I only want the text that i have typed in to go into the variable but the wackload of html is going in there too. ive tried a few different things, rewriting my code, recreating the text box, changing settings, dont know what im missing.
I'm trying to build a fahrenheit to celsius convertor in AS3. How can I test to see whether what is input into a text input box (flash component) is not a number? This isn't correct but you can get an idea of what i'm trying to do:

i have an one input text box, first i type text into it and press space bar at this it will become empty and ready to accept next input from starting position, i make the text box empty by
textbox.text = "";
but the cursor not set to initial position in text box it consider "" as "space" and cursor will display after one space only, i need that cursor again move to starting position..
Using AS3 to create a basic number guessing game but for some reason the input text field won't accept text input. I can't figure out which piece of code is causing the problem and it's driving me nuts considering it's from a tutorial.
This code corresponds to a quiz question where the correct answer is either blue or green. I get the #1009 error if I input "blue". The answer "green" seems to work ok. What's wrong with my code? Is there a better way to make is so more than one answer works? Something like "blue" or "green" or "otheranswer", etc..?
I am trying to read some values from an external text file (combobox1.txt) into Flash, to populate my combobox1.

This works just fine on my PC; but won't work online after uploading the files (freehostia), the combobox will stay emty. After openinig the text file (link) on my browser I only see a blank screen. So I tried the same file on a diferente server and now I can see the data now on in my browser (link) and my local swf, but still nothing on my online swf.
I have been working on a tool for use in our office which creates XML. The problem is if a user leaves any of the text fields blank, I get only the end tag, for example </text>. This only happens if a text field is blank. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to handle this. Do I have to check every field for data? I am at home now so I can not post the code right now. But basically, I set a variable which holds the XML structure and is filled in with variables from the text fields.
Why's my dynamic text field blank when I embed the font chosen? The text field loads text from an external .txt file with html codes. There's no problem when I mark "No charaters" but when "All" or "Only" is marked the text field is blank? I've tried to remove the html codes from the external file, but it makes no difference!
I have made it this far with much help and all was working well until the xml changed. Sometimes the c_Result node does not exist and my c_points text box returns 'undefined'. I have tried if(c_points != undefined){ etc which works to a degree but I don't know how to make the text box blank if the node doesn't exist and load the c_Result node if it does.
