ActionScript 2.0 :: Call Every 60 Seconds To A PHP File Too Much?
Apr 28, 2008
I have a movie that I need to update every 60 seconds, calling a PHP file, which provides update server time/date, and (on-the-fly updated) air times for an online video. Is every 60 seconds too CPU intensive?
I have a project where I have code inside a MC on the main timeline that loads XML via a php file on the server. Once the data is loaded, it sends commands to other MCs and works just fine.However, I need to refresh this XML info every 5 seconds or so. I have tried several things such as interval code and pause code, but the farthest I got was that it paused the initial clip for 5 seconds, then ran the script once, but never again. Or it refreshed, but got stuck on the first frame of the clip.Now I am thinking I would be better off NOT having the code inside the MC, but on the main timeline and just having the action span the course of the main timeline. That way, the call to the php can be refreshed from any frame of the main timeline. Does that sound right?
How do you set a function to increment in AS3 Flash. I am trying to start the incremented function when my video starts and then run the same function every 20 seconds until the video stops.
[Code]...
OTHER items are started and set within this function that do not have to do with the incremented function.
basically, what it does is when i click, a block box (textholder), fades in, then after a few seconds (in this case, 2), it fades out again.. it works fine on the first click, but after more clicks, the interval duration seems to be getting smaller, up to a point where it is zero, and nothing happens.
and I need to use another setInterval() function (to call the changeTxt() function), will that affect the setInterval function i have up there now? i've linked an swf, to better show what i mean. [URL]
I calling a function using setInterval()... however, it behaves differently in IE7 and Firefox. It is working fine in Firefox but not in IE7.Can I use getTimer() to call a specific function in every 3 seconds...?
I am trying to make a real time communication for a flash file with php so if there is a change on the php the data are refreshed on the flash automatically.
I have a function that loads the php data in flash, how can I repeat that so it checks if the data have changed every, 5 seconds or so?
Also, how can I create a function that will do something when the data changes? So let's say the data is 20, if the file communicates with php and sees that data have changed to 25, how can I tell flash to play a movieclip or whatever?
I have been trying to figure out how to play the last x seconds of a mp3 file depending on a variable. I could not find any examples/tutorials that are close to what I need.
The thing is, I have an animation that lasts 9 seconds (this is a variable), I want the sound file to last 9 seconds as well.
I can get which part of file in bytes is loaded using netstream.bytesLoaded,netstream.bytesTotal, I can get the current playing position using netstream.time. But I want to know how many seconds of video are already loaded (not the length of buffer, which remains constant).
I have been searching and trying different methods to locate how to calculate minutes and seconds of an audio file that has been loaded within my public class. Does anyone know how to get seconds/minutes with a loaded sound object? I can easily do it with video, but it seems a bit harder to find info on calculating sound object length in minutes and seconds.
Currently, my class:Loads the mp3 file Contains pause/play, mute/unmute buttons and they function beautifully A scrub bar - this is the piece I am currently working on. I want to add a current time and total time (minutes/seconds)Scrub bar contains progress area bar - already built and functioning
When i use time varaible and then minus the time. Ive noticed that flash does not count down in seconds, but the speed of light. My maths are not very strong so how can i get flash to count in seconds
var time =60; sprite.onEnterframe = function(){ time -=1; ( this counts faster than seconds) }
I'm trying to figure out how I can make the sound file that I load into Flash start at x seconds and end at x+30 seconds.So basically, I just want a 30 second sample to play starting at a specific time position. Does anyone have any advice on how to do this or have links to somewhere I can read up on it?
I'm working with the youtube API and I'm getting the current time on the video as seconds.What I want to do is to convert them into this: MM:SS.I've tried to google and try different things by myself but nothing seemed to work and be efficient.
I am currently using the following code to display the secconds of a FLV being played: ActionScript Code:time_txt.text = Math.round(_root.video_mc.videoZ.playheadTime*100)/100;I need to change this to display MM:SS (minutes:seconds) rather than just seconds and decimals.The javascript people here at work suggested something like this:
ActionScript Code: function strPad(str, places, pad, side) { while (length(str) < places) {
I have downloaded a template from [url].... And there is a xml gallery for images. I want to use my movie in swf instead of one single image from slide show.[code]...
1) I want a 60 seconds video to start playing after 40 seconds have been downloaded - to do that I set the NetStream.bufferTime to 40 seconds and retrieve "NetStream.Buffer.Full" event causing the video to really start playing. This step is OK.
2) However, the "NetStream.Buffer.Full" causes data to stop downloading. So the remainder of the video begins to download no sooner than after the 40 seconds have been played. This step is my issue. Can anyone tell me how to avoid this unintended effect? (i.e. playing a video and downloading data at the same time?)
I was going through some sample codes and i found that some files had .as extension and others had .fla. One animation used only .fla to run and the other animation used both .fla and .as to run. My question is how do i call a .as file from .fla file?
I am using flash CS3 and the code I need is in ActionScript 3.0.
Suppose, I have a .swf file(viz., file1.swf). Now, i am developing one more .swf file(viz., file2.swf), in which I need to execute file1.swf when a CLICK event is listened on button present in second file(i.e., file2.swf).
I am facing some problem to call a swf file via xml when this xml file loaded it calls another swf file which includes a new xml file. now if i call this nested swf calling without xml it works but in case case of xml it is not showing the result. i m confused. how to nested xml file calling done in as2/as3.
I'm having some trouble getting the following code to work - trying to use the new Sound.extract() function to get two seconds of a Sound into a ByteArray, and then create a new bytearray with a WAV header, and then output the file. The resulting 'test.wav' file sounds very wrong although slightly recognisable? I think I may have some of the WAV header settings may be wrong but I'm not quite sure what's the matter and after a long time scratching
I'm a complete newbie when it comes to actionscript. Basically for a uni project I have to design an MP3 player in flash. I've modified the snow script from this site slighty, in order for it to display track names, artists and album name instead of snowflakes. The script looks like this:
Code: this.children = new Array (); function makeFlakes () snowflakes = 75; do {
So I've created an xml slideshow using Flash Slideshow maker pro, because its very fast and versatile and I need to update my galleries frequently. I'm trying to load it into my flash site using the following AS3 script:
var Xpos:Number = 20; var Ypos:Number = 20; var swf:MovieClip;
[Code]....
and when I do that, it seems to be unable to read the xml file anymore and I get a "load fail" message.
On looking at the error message, its trying to call the xml file from the same folder that the site is saved in. How do i tell it to get the xml file from a different folder?
I have want to tell a movie instance to play from a class:
`package com { import flash.display.MovieClip; public class Global extends MovieClip
[code]....
pic1m is the class, but I get 1120 undefined property error.If I just put pic1m.play(); in my main timeline action layer it works fine, but I need the function playMask to be global in AS3...
