Is there a way to display subscripts in flash in a dynamic text box trough html. I couldn't find on the supported tags for html a way to do subscripts.

It's been a about seven years since I have done any work with Flash but now my employer is asking me to create a custom online magazine tool (we're publishers). I've been immersed in PHP and AJAX and building Mac apps with XCode so I've got a bit of a relearning curve to go through.
Anyway, I'm pulling in some XML into a Flash file and want to display some of the various node values in a dynamic text box. That was easy enough, AS3 makes it a charm compared to the dark old days. The problem I am running into is displaying the values - its kind of a runsheet for a magazine - num of pages, ads, features, etc. etc. and I want to display that in one text box in a list type format. So I have something like this:

I am trying to get a text file to display in a dynamic scrolling textbox as HTML. What do I need to put in my code so that the textbox displays it correctly and leaves out the HTML tags?

If I just display regular text it works or if I change the textArea element to a RichEditableText element it works fine. Since this is for a mobile app I would prefer to use the textArea element as recommended by Adobe.Here is the MXML code for the textArea. All I get is the border and no content displayed.

I am using flash cs5...i created a game but when i m running it...it is showing a message saying "Fonts should be embedded for any text that may be edited at runtime, other than text with the "Use Device Fonts""and i am not getting my dynamic text output.

And specifically how I could take that and basically "append" a sprite inline to the text when i need to? Reading in text from a text file and flash seems to refuse to display the pound sign (£). Tried doing the url encode thing (%A3) but his dosent seem to work either. Can anyone shed any light on this?
View 8 RepliesI have a text field component that I am dynamically populating with text. The words appear one letter at a time in a teleprinter style fashion. I also have rendered certain words with HTML to make style changes within the text.Now all this works fine, except because the HTML text is larger than the body of the other text, I am losing theteleprintereffect at the bottom of the text field. In other words, after a set amount has been printed, users are not seeing the letters printed out one at a time, but instead just get a printed line of text appear from beneath the visible section of the text window.

View 5 RepliesI have to dynamic text boxes; one is for articles and the other is supposed to bu for navigation of the articles. I have a variable set up for the article dynamic text box and I want the navigation part to be filled in via text file. so I need to find a way for the information that's fed in to the navigation part to functions as buttons and when they are clicked a variable should pass though flash telling is what story to display. for instance if you click stereohype then storyvar == stereohype. see what I mean? I could do it all in flash but i'm trying to make it where I don't have to touch the flash file after it's completed and everything can just be manipulated via text files with html php xml you name it, what ever works.

I have this text "my text is <b>bold</b> and regular".
I want "<b>bold</b>" to be... well, let's say... bold !
I have a mask layer under which there is a text field.
The text field shows htmlText, and i must embed chars. If not embedded, it doesn't display because of the mask. So the solution of importing 2 user fonts ( one bold and one regular) does not work.
I'm having some problems with the XML/FLASH Photo Gallery Tutorial ([URL]). When I load the swf file into another movie the dynamic text will not display. Any thoughts to why this is happening.

The reason i ask is my current project has a rotating + enlarging effect which is largely dynamic so sometimes an object may clip the edge of the stage areathis looks messy but i dont want to increase the stage area to cover the largest possible area any object could enter because most of the time the objects are at the center and small so i would end up with a lot of white space

When it shows up in my movie though it doesn't do the table. It just puts it all on one line. I also have my behavior to multiline and my anti-alias is "Use device fonts". I also have the html button checked on my dynamic text box.

View 1 RepliesI have a dynamic textfield being populated with an xml files' content. I then have a css stylesheet loaded into format the text. This all works great, but what doesn't work is the ability to bold some of the words in that text. I have both the regular and bold versions of the font embedded into the swf, I can test out just a bold block of text and it works fine. The css is also working as it will change the size of the text that I tell it to. Everything is working, but for some reason I am not able to get the bolder version of the font to display in the same text box as the regular one. I have also tried to change fonts but had the same outcome.

I have a INPUT TEXT inside a mc called "txt mc" and DYNAMIC TEXT in the main time line.I'm trying to display what's typed in the INPUT TEXT (my_Input_Txt) in the DYNAMIC TEXT boxes (my_Dyn_Txt1, my_Dyn_Txt2, my_Dyn_Txt3).Here's the code. I am trying to display an HTML formated file in text area component using Action 3.0. The following script does not generates compiler errors, each function seems to be executed yet the file is not displayed. When trying the same code with myCV.txt and myCV_TA.text = (loader1.data) the text file is displayed OK. Flash MX and actionscript 2.0 had handled that differently but with success?

Then htmlText doesn't support Spark Textarea. Hence produces error. How does one go about displaying HTML formatted text with spark Text Area Property.
I am trying to get a link to work in the body text of a text block. I am using CDATA but can not get this to translate to html in the flash. I have checked that the 'Render text as html' box is checked.

I want to import an html file that contains just plain tet inside of a dynamic text box. The things that I have tried jus tmake the html file pop-up as a new page, but i want the information inside of that textbox.
View 2 RepliesI'm trying to use a dynamic text field to pull in html text that contains a bulleted list. Easy enough, that works. But the bullets dont take on the color assigned to the field. I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I just want my text and bullets to both be white.

I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

I'm building this flash site for a friend and he wants to be able to edit the contents and maintain the site by himself later on. So naturally, I used a dynamic text field that uses URLloader to link to an external html, dandy. Problem is, my friend wants to use dreamweaver to edit the contents of html (or even just a word document exported as html) and it's just driving him nuts because the text look nothing like that way it did in DW when it's loaded into the dynamic text field (extra spacing and line break popping up randomly everywhere). Is there an alternative solution other then telling him to just edit it in notepad? What if I switch over to XML?
