I have a flash movie with a dynamic loading textfield formatted in html. What I'm looking to do is format (using a tag?) the loaded html code to have a hyperlink (<a href?>) gotoAndPlay(2) or perform other functions.

View 5 RepliesI am currently trying to pull RSS data into a project for my first time and am trying to get 3 (potentially 4) boxes filled with rss data that will be updated. So far, I am going with Actionscript 3. So far I have the code below, but it puts data in a listbox. What is the easiest way to put the data in three dynamic text boxes inside a movie clip, so I have one for the title, one for description and one for link (shown as 'read more' text but a link using the url from the rss value)?I am really banging my head against the wall on this one and want to get it sorted asap,I have also attached an image to show what I am trying to do:I also want to know if it's possible to show rss values only if they exist. I have a completed Flash (AS2) project that's pretty involved. Now, I need to launch it from a hyperlink on an html page. I want the hyperlink to launch the ".app" or ".exe" file - not the html that Flash publishes. I don't want the user to view the project in an html/browser window but rather as its standalone projector/exe.
I tried a regular hyperlink like this[url]...but that doesn't launch the .app. Instead I got a browser screen showing the path to the app inside the "FLASH" folder. The app is viewed as a folder named "GUIDE.app". (weird) So I surmise that a regular hyperlink isn't going to do the job.
How do I launch a Flash projector or executable file from a hyperlink on a separate HTML page?
can you specify a frame name in a HTML hyperlink to go to that frame in the swf file when clicked.
View 5 RepliesI'm trying to use a dynamic text field to pull in html text that contains a bulleted list. Easy enough, that works. But the bullets dont take on the color assigned to the field. I've tried putting it in the html text and also using NewTextFormat and neither work. Can someone help me. This should be a simple fix, but I can't find it... I just want my text and bullets to both be white.

I am using a dynamic text field to show html formatted text from .txt files. I have set the html property both in the properties panel and in AS, and it mostly works. All html formatting show up just fine, except for when "&" is used. Flash CS3 documentation indicates that & is supported, so.? All text after the & does not appear: the only text loaded is that that comes before it. I am using CS3, AS2, publishing in Flash Player 9. Sorry if this problem has been addressed elsewhere, but I've had no luck with my searches.

I'm building this flash site for a friend and he wants to be able to edit the contents and maintain the site by himself later on. So naturally, I used a dynamic text field that uses URLloader to link to an external html, dandy. Problem is, my friend wants to use dreamweaver to edit the contents of html (or even just a word document exported as html) and it's just driving him nuts because the text look nothing like that way it did in DW when it's loaded into the dynamic text field (extra spacing and line break popping up randomly everywhere). Is there an alternative solution other then telling him to just edit it in notepad? What if I switch over to XML?

1. I added a text box to my frame, set it to Dynamic Text, then clicked "Render Text as HTML".
2. If I type <div>Test</div> into the text box and hit Ctrl-Enter, it displays the text "<div>Test</div>"
3. Same thing if I enter <a href="#">Test</a>
The text is not rendered as HTML...
Tried importing an XML into the Dynamic Text box: same results. Tried HTMLEncoding the values as <div> and it says <div>.
Perhaps the "Render Text as HTML" means HTMLencoding. Anyone know how to set it to "render the HTML tags"?

I have a problem: I'm trying to have a dynamic text box (htmlText) with a number of links (all dynamically generated themselves) within. I need some way that the html link can detect the user mousing over/off of it and fire off a function (to bring up a tooltip elsewhere on the interface, specifically). Is this at all possible in ActionScript 1.0?

Flex's support for HTML is pretty minimal, so I am wondering if it's possible to do a simple font color change rollover effect on these links. Currently I have found that Flex only supports a few HTML tags, but also supports CSS through Flex's whack CSS methods. Can I manipulate HTML that is written in my JSON files through an external CSS file? Or better still using a simple tag with the JSON file?

The text file "anastasio.txt" just have this line "image=photo.jpg". "holder_mc" is a blank movie clip. The image is loading properly but I dont know how to hyperlink that!! Can any one let me know how to do that dynamically.
Also, this is a very simple way of loading the image from text file but in real this will come from DB. The Admin will insert the image name and the url in DB and uploads the image to a specific folder from where the flash will load that image. I'm thinking what could be a better way from below to do the above stated task:
1) On insertion into DB, I need to create an XML file from DB fetching the image name and url and writing them to XML file. And every time the flash will load these from XML file instead of connecting to DB server.
2) No XML file. The flash will communicate with a PhP page which will fetch the records from DB and give it to flash for loading

I am making a learning system where a user selects a "lesson" from a list of lessons.I currently have a lesson read from a txt file and loaded into a dynamic text box depending on what lesson the user selected. I have a problem with this though as:1) I need to have tables, math symbols, superscript and subscript which are not currently available in html tags flash understands.2) I want to put interactive elements like drag and drop etc. in the lessons.3) I need to include a search function so a user can type in a "word" and it will load lessons that the word appears in
View 3 RepliesI've done this dozens of time before but for some reason any new dynamic text boxes I make will not properly render the HTML in them even with the HTML control turned on.
I'm using CS3 with Actionscript 3, targeting player 9. I've tried AS 2, and different players all to no avail. I've tried embedding fonts, and not embedding fonts with no change in behavior noticed. I do want to use AS 3 (and wrote a bunch of code for it in a different file already), but even in a new empty file I'm still seeing this behavior.
I've made a real simple (one line!) file with a text box to demonstrate.
