ActionScript 2.0 :: Fitting Images And Maybe Preserving Proportions

Aug 9, 2005

At the moment I am using _root.image.loadMovie(photo.jpg);to load a jpeg into a movieclip which results in the picture being loaded at its full size. Whats the best way to get it to fit to the "container" movieclips size.Also is there a way to get it to preserve its proportions so it doesn't stretch?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Fitting Images Perfectly To Pie Slice?

1: I have a pie chart which takes values from xml and as per the xml data draw pie chart.

2: I need to add images to some or all pie slices.

3: If I am going clockwise direction and I have reached slice number 3 ,then the image to be added to that slice have similar orientation to that pie slice.

4: I have loaded the pie images and made its bitmaps and then added it to some array say pieBitmapArr.

5: Now I need to add this bitmaps to individual pies.

6: Further the overall dimension of pie image and pie drawn doesn't match.

7: And when I use addChild method to individual slice ,all the picture arrange themselves at the top left i.e. 0,0 position of the stage.

8: I want the image to exaclty fit on pie drawn but I am not able to do it.

9: Further I have used slice.graphics.beginBitmapFill(bitmapData) but also it doesn't yield anything,just blank pie.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Resizing And Constraining Proportions?

Oct 12, 2011

I'm doing liquid layouts, and resizing my images while constraining proportions. Here is the code I'm using:

Code:
image.y = (stage.stageHeight/2) - (image.height/2)
resizeMe(image, stage.stageWidth, stage.stageHeight);
//The resizing function

[Code].....

I want it to resize and totally centre itself in the middle of the screen. HOWEVER. I also want to nudge it down 100px, and THEN resize it. I'm having no luck with this though I can move it down 100 px, but then it resizes and positions itself as though it was still in the centre.

ActionScript 2.0 :: How To Constraint Image Proportions

Nov 23, 2005

Im developing a full browser flash website for a photographer and I should make the pictures really big. Now my problem is that when you see the website in a smaller resolution than the one im using, images get too big. What i need is a function that resizes the image box according to the stage size, but I dont know how to constraint the image proportions. For instance I would make something that would do imageMc._width=Stage.width*0.8 so I could have the image with 80% of the screen size.... but how to make it proportional with height?url...

Quote:

Stage.align = "TL";
Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";
//size bg_mc to match stage size

[code]....

It succeeds resizing but is NOT in proportion

1. editing the script thus the picture resizes with contrain proportions?

2. I'd also like to have it centerized during resize.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Tweening Size Without Locked Proportions?

Jul 19, 2009

My problem is that I want to scale my symbol in ONE specific direction. Up, down, left OR right. Flash automaticaly scales a symbol equaly to both sides, changes the x/y values of the opposite edge from the symbol, but I don`t want this.

I mean, I want to scale my symbols just like shapes. If I scale to the right, the left side stays on the same X/Y values.

I can`t do this on flash IDE nor in actionscript. I would like to know if there are any solution to both cases

I want this because in my movie clip I have a mask (a symbol made from a square) and I need it to scale upwards. But doing this by code makes it enlarge downwards equally screwing up my animation.

I don't know if this would effect it, but I have been manually changing the html to make it so that it fits 100%.

Preserving An Object After It Bounces Into Place?

Jul 12, 2009

I'm creating a simple banner for my site and have run into problems with easing.

What I want to happen is for the title of my site to bounce into place from frames 1 to 60 and then for an adjacent tag line to transition from blurry to clear during frames 61 to 90.

This is what my timeline looks like:

What I can't figure out for the life of me is how to get the title to remain on the stage after it stops bouncing on frame 60.

I tried extending the bounce tween to frame 90 then using the motion editor to shrink it to frame 60, but, for some reason it becomes distorted and no longer looks like a bounce:

What's the trick to getting the title to stay in place?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preserving WhiteSpace With HtmlText When Using CondenseWhite

Oct 24, 2008

I have a website I'm making. The contents of it is set via xml documents.Now because in the xml for the sake of keeping it clean I make sure when setting all text to any TextField I set it with condenseWhite set to true:[code]Now this condense white creates a few weird bugs when using htmlText... things like img tags acting really weird and the sort.But that isn't my concern right this second. What I want to do though is allow the user to choose the ability to preserve whitespace in some manner for instance here is the main xml document loaded and used to load all subsequent docs:[code]

I've tried stick in there and that fails. I've tried the <pre> tag from html, failed, which I assumed it would. %20 doesn't either.I also thought of sticking a "preserve" attribute on it and checking that before setting text (as you can see in the xml code)but in some scenarios in my application it creates very convoluted code just to update dynamic textFields (I have textfields that swap out a lot, like in the photogallery as can be seen here: URL...Or maybe knows a site that has a well documented explanation of the html abilities of the TextField.I've been reading around on the internet and playing in flash for a while now testing different things and still no result.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Preserving Instance Names When Embedding?

Jun 20, 2009

I was wondering if there's a way to embed a swf in an AS3 project without the swf losing its instance names. For example, say I embed Main.swf and it has an instance of a button called close_btn. If I embed with:

Code:

[Embed (source="Main.swf")]
private static var $Main:Class;
public static var Main:MovieClip = new $Main();

then I do something like...

Code:
var main:MovieClip = Main;
addChild(main);
trace(main.close_btn);

I get a run-time error saying that the symbol close_btn could not be found. how to embed a swf with visible instance names?

ActionScript 2.0 :: Preserving Movie Clip Playhead Position

Apr 29, 2010

I need to jump the movie clip position back and forth between two positions on the stage--without tweening--via a mouse click on a button. I have no problem doing this by creating a 2-keyframe timeline, and re-positioning the movie clip for each frame. To move back and forth from frame 1 to 2 and back to 1 on the main timeline, I wrote a gotoAndStop action for the button, (labeled flipflop.) In frame 1 of the main timeline:

flipflop.onMouseDown = function() {
gotoAndStop(2);
};

In frame 2 of the main timeline:

flipflop.onMouseDown = function() {
gotoAndStop(1);
};

The problem is, when the movie clip jumps from position A to position B on the stage, the movie clip resets to frame 1. I need the movie clip to hold its current frame as it changes position from frame 1 to 2 and back to 1. How do I do this, and would the method be the same if the single button controlled the movement of multiple movie clips?
