ActionScript 3.0 :: Tweening Size Without Locked Proportions?
Jul 19, 2009
My problem is that I want to scale my symbol in ONE specific direction. Up, down, left OR right. Flash automaticaly scales a symbol equaly to both sides, changes the x/y values of the opposite edge from the symbol, but I don`t want this.
I mean, I want to scale my symbols just like shapes. If I scale to the right, the left side stays on the same X/Y values.
I can`t do this on flash IDE nor in actionscript. I would like to know if there are any solution to both cases
I want this because in my movie clip I have a mask (a symbol made from a square) and I need it to scale upwards. But doing this by code makes it enlarge downwards equally screwing up my animation.
OK I have been racking my brain to get this resolved and unfortunately there isn't a lot of info on the web. Scenario: We are in a shared environment. Central file server (Mac OS X server) over gigabit enet. We open flash files over the network and then we "try" to publish the files back to the same server in which the .fla is stored. (I have read John at Adobe's comments on the practice but this DID work).
So we access the flash file at /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/~Flash/ and we "attempt to" publish the .swf to /Volumes/ServerName/JobFolder/htmlfolder/flash .... this was working previously in flash 6-7 but in 8-cs3 it has stopped working and we are kicking ourselves to get some answers. When we try to publish we get the following error: "Error creating Flash movie file. Be sure the destination is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long."
I am trying to change the size of a box. Rather than using a shape tween to accomplish this, I want to use actionscript. I really don't know where to begin. I have created an mc of the box and given it an instancename of T2. I want the animation to play as soon as the mc is loaded.
I want it to resize and totally centre itself in the middle of the screen. HOWEVER. I also want to nudge it down 100px, and THEN resize it. I'm having no luck with this though I can move it down 100 px, but then it resizes and positions itself as though it was still in the centre.
Im developing a full browser flash website for a photographer and I should make the pictures really big. Now my problem is that when you see the website in a smaller resolution than the one im using, images get too big. What i need is a function that resizes the image box according to the stage size, but I dont know how to constraint the image proportions. For instance I would make something that would do imageMc._width=Stage.width*0.8 so I could have the image with 80% of the screen size.... but how to make it proportional with height?url...
At the moment I am using _root.image.loadMovie(photo.jpg);to load a jpeg into a movieclip which results in the picture being loaded at its full size. Whats the best way to get it to fit to the "container" movieclips size.Also is there a way to get it to preserve its proportions so it doesn't stretch?
I am developing an AS3 website (client's request) but have run into a little trouble. My template.swf contains a fixed Header/ Footer and is resized to fit the browser window. The middle content is resized when the browser is resized using:
I'm getting the following error: Motion tweening will not occur on layers with ungrouped shapes or on layers with more than one group or symbol. I don't have any ungrouped shapes (it's all text), each layer has 5 instances of only one symbol (keyframes), no objects are grouped and text is all static text.
When watching the animation, the first word (web) looks fine, on the second word (design) the tween fails on the last couple of frames of that clip (the blur filter disappears), the third word (and) is OK, and on the forth word (development) the blur filter is not applied to the last 16 frames of that clip.I broke each animation into its own MC thinking that was causing the issue, but that didn't fix anything.
I have an flv loaded externally. I've added it to a movieclip and want it to fill the stage as my background and scale proportionally. The proportions work fine and the movie seems to scale fine. My problem is the movie doesn't start right away. It shows blank until I resize the browser then it shows up fine.Here is the code:
Im trying to make a website in AS3 with a dynamic background-video that fills all the page in my browser and keeps the proportions even if you are resizing the browser like this:[url].....its almost working but i dont know what to do to force to keep the proportions of my movieClip and at the same, to fill 100% of my page .This is my code...I have a movieClip with the instance name: "bg".
I'm considering making a Flex/AS3 based web application but worrying about some employers (i.e. potential customers) that don't have access to Flash plug in version 9 and up. Why? Maybe their corporate standard for browser is old; maybe they lock down employees computers which prevents users to download and install the plug-in or an alternate browser; maybe Flash's ubiquity goes away in the next 3 years given Adobe's recent announcements; etc.Anyway, my question is, would it be possible to insert a USB Flash drive into the client computer in question and run a Browser having flash (e.g. chrome) on the USB drive (assuming such a browser has already been installed on the USB drive), to access the web application with full functionality? I'm just trying to think of workarounds if my customer doesn't have flash plug-in and can't download to install it.
It's about a website where a Photo Gallery exists. It all works fine until I press the Gallery button and then try to go elsewhere. The photos not only they remain on the page (the text and other images load normally on the current page, but under the gallery photos), but if I press the Gallery button again after pressing another button, it keeps loading those images over the previous ones. The code:
I've got a reporting system that uses Flex Visualization charts for the GUI. The first row of a report is the header and the second is a summary row that sums all the data in that column for the data rows. The summary row is locked so that when you scroll down it stays at the top. In Flex 2.X I was able to change the background color of this locked summary row by overriding drawRowBackground and setting the color for the row with index 0. I upgraded to Flex 3.4 and now this no longer works. It appears to iterate over lockedRows separate from other rows, so drawRowBackground is called with a row index of 0 twice and the first data row ends up getting colored.
How are you supposed to change the background color of lockedRows in 3.4, or am I misusing this component and there is another way to achieve my goal here?
edit: mods I think maybe I misunderstood the name of this forum and this post actually belongs under ActionScript 3.
I have developed to applications in flex. The one application constantly retrieves data from the internet, while the other can be opened and closed when you want, both apps use the same database. The problem is that at random I get an Error #3119: Database file is currently locked. Is it not possible to have two stable connections in a Adobe AIR environment?
I want to recreate the same effect (this has been done) but with a little twist, and I do not know how to code the mask with Action Script.What I want to achieve is this:
1. Lock my mask on the Y axis;
2. When I mouse over it, the mask would move up and down;
3. The mouse cursor would disapear while being in the mask.
My flash file is almost complete. I just need the code to move the mask.
I'm trying to make a movieclip scale proportionally only if the item is being resize smaller than the current.Obviously I can use the ScaleX/Y values like so:
I trained on flashMX back in the day and haven't done anything since so now I've got CS5 it's a bit like being at school again! I have a circular dial sat in the middle of the screen with an arrow placed on it's edge. How do I get the dial to rotate so it always faces the mouse pointer?
So I have a FMS 3.5, which I want to do live streams. The thing is I want several different people to be able to do the live broadcast, and I would like the server locked down at least a little and not allow anyone that wants to, to start a broadcast. With that said, I have FMS 3.5 installed, and I installed the Authentificaiton Add-In (3.0). I added a user to the authentification add-in, but it's still doesn't require a username / password, doesn't even prompt me.
I'm using Flex in Flash Player 10 on Windows, using FileReference to load a file into memory, as below.My issue is that when a file is locked by Windows, my FileReference is not giving me any feedback that the file is inaccessible--it simply never dispatches any events after my calling load().Does anyone have insight into how to tell that Flash Player is unable to open the file?
var fileReference:FileReference = new FileReference(); private function onClick():void { fileReference = new FileReference(); fileReference.addEventListener(Event.SELECT, onSelect);
am trying to export/publish a swf of a dress up game I made so I can put it in Dreamweaver and upload it to my site but I keep getting this error message:"Error Creating Flash Movie File: Be sure the destination file is not locked or on a locked drive. Also, check that the file name is not too long".I am also unable to test the movie, it gives me the same error message.
So ive been asked to build a page for a real state company and the guy told me it should be similar to these [URL] Ive been trying a couple of weeks so far, but i dont seem to find a way to do somthing similar, i mean, i want to have the welcome screen as those two:
- the gradient background - flash occupies whole screen no matter what size it is - gradient expands sideways infinately - no matter what height my explorer window is, gradient is always in the same position relative to top, and if i keep expanding downwards the background keeps last colour of the gradient. - the brand logo looks as if it had top, left and right anchors, and it also limitates the minimum width of the explorer window
i though of addind a 3000 x 3000px square with the gradient and centering it, but i know there has to be a professional way of achieving that.
I am trying to build a flash that auto-adjust its size to the browser window size, while leaving the content of the flash itself top-centered in the screen.I have found this solution [URL].. on How to keep centered stuff in this exact case so i am pretty confident i will be able to adjust that script to do what i want.
Now my problem is that if i put my content inside the movie-clip (centerrectangle) with all the animation require, link and other stuff, the movieclip (center rectangle ) never have the exact same center, thus making the script go wild trying to always adjust the location to the variable size of the movie clip.

I need it to stay exactly at the same position whatever the size of the movie-clip. [code]...
