ActionScript 2.0 :: Flash Not Reading HTML File Properly
Sep 30, 2010
Basically, I have alot of text that needs to contain underlines and all that good formatting stuff that flash text can't do. So I created a dynamic scrolling text box, loaded in an external txt document containing all the right HTML tags for flash. But for some reason the flash cuts off the text. It won't show all the text I have. I noticed that it seems to be cutting it off in SOME (not all) areas where I have a hyperlink.

Whenever flash sees an html tag such as <p> or <img src=""> it stops reading the xml file at that point. I currently have it working with each application in its own xml file, but that is messy and I would rather it all be in one place.
it is my first time reading in XML files into my Flash project. I have it working to an extent, as it will read in the file correctly and all that, and I though that I was finally ready to publish it. I copied all of the concerned files over to my server, and it will work perfectly fine when I view the flash from the uploaded link directly (right on my server in the folder I created it in).
My problem arises when I try to publish my project on another website, by just embedding the .swf directly. The project works perfectly until I click the tab that will read in the XML file, at that point it will just hang and not load it in properly. Since it was my first time using XML, I played around with a template a bit to learn it. Anyway, here is what I put (Well, example of what I put)
I have a text file containing html formatted text which I try to get into a textfield. All works fine locally and even on my localhost test server, but when uploading to the real server - I get a blank.
writing actionScript code. I'm not an actionScript developer and have been trying to get this to work for hours.The requirement is a script that receives a parameter via javascript. The parameter is a url for a remote html web page.The script needs to load the contents of that html page into a string variable and then call a javascript function passing it the html as parameter.
I have a html file which has flash in it. The flash has few buttons on it. WHen i just click on the html page, the flash works. However, when i get into the html file from other pages, which i use action script getURL to link it. The html file show the flash but the buttons in it is not working.
I turn to you for help, dear sweet Kirupa Forumites. First, let me explain the problem: I have a flash file reading an external text file for the content. Everything works perfectly for nearly everyone - you click a menu button, and the content text comes up fine. However, a couple of people have found that the text shows up as "undefined". I have checked the player versions of the people where it doesn't work, and it is the same as for those where it does work, so that ain't the problem.
I don't understand why it works perfectly for nearly everyone, but a small number of people have this "undefined" text problem. It seems to be a problem with loading the external text file, but I don't know why. I have a main flash movie, and load the text in the first frame, using the following:
var my_content = new LoadVars(); my_content.load("content.txt"); my_content.onLoad = function(success){ if (success){
[Code]...
I then have a couple of dynamic text boxes in the main movie - one called ErrorText (for displaying an error message to the user) and one called ContentText (for displaying the content). I use an external menu swf which jumps to a specific frame in the main movie, depending on which button is clicked. Actionscript on the main movie frame for the first button does the following, with the other frames similarly configured:
very simple question, i have this: (only a part of the complete rss file)
<item> <title>Ok, de regalo de San Valentin me pueden dar un viaje a Playa del Carmen! Digo, entre todos lo pagan! No?? #SoñarNoCuestaNada</title>
I am having a nightmare using CSS to style HTML within a dynamic textfield in my flash doc. From what i now understand after much trial and error and reading online, CSS doesn't even work properly in flash even for the tags that it does understand (which are few and far between anyway). For some reason my layout is getting completely screwed up in certain scenarios (predominantly when there are images present too) when i hover over links (which are styled in an external CSS file). If i remove the external CSS styling (which only contains the following simple code):
Then everything works fine (but no links are underlined as standard or on hover). Does anyone know of any way to style the links without using an external CSS file (all i want to do is have no underline as standard and then underline them on hover). As this is from user input into a text editor I cannot place these links manually on the page in flash as they could be anywhere, I need a way of parsing the HTML and then displaying it accordingly.
import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.Loader; import flash.events.*; import flash.net.URLRequest; import com.imgLoader; //ListfilesOnServer is a list component //btnGetList is a button //txtStatusUpload is a textfield [Code] .....
he bought a template that makes the reading of external files, at first Ihad a problem because the flash CS5 was not opening the fla, so I managed to solvethe updating Flash CS5, solved this problem after another arose, the same open thefla normal, but when you export the swf so it makes reading the menus, most do notread the contents of rest, and saw the variables are correct, only appears the letter "a"sample (aaaaaaa) looks like this should appear where the text in question,
To make a pic presentation, I used to xml to store images and contents. I display the pictures by reading from the xml file in flash.My prob is ,Suppose if there are 5 images with the contents in xml file. I have to make a loop of the images being displayed along with the content. As of know, the program reads the content and image, goes to end of the record and stops. I need to bring back to start and make the image displayed agian
I am trying to read data from [URL] location in my flash file which is residing on a server. But I am not able to get any data. No issues in coding - checked with a local copy. Command used is objMain.CCRSSXML.load("[URL]");
...Anyway. Since college happened, I'm used to C++ storing data in .txt files and reading in from there. I'm trying to make a monopoly remake for something to do while Christmas comes, and I wanted to store all the card information somewhere. I thought of storing it in some sort of "Information Class" or perhaps just a text file.
Is it possible to read HTML headers in AS3?The header contains the following meta tag:Code:meta name="language" content="en-GB" scheme="rfc1766" />The idea is to extract the following code into a variable to control the language in the swfCode:content="en-GB"Is this possible in AS3?
I am having trouble with editing my flash template in flash cs4. When I try to play the fla file in the timeline it does not play everything in each layer. I have made no changes to the exisiting files in the template at all but there is only a partial background and some text playing.I have tried two other fla files from templates and they are the same.
I've got this FLA file, and when I preview it from Flash CS5, it works fine, but when i try to open the SWF outside of Flash CS5, it no longer works...
I know its maybe a bit much to ask, but this is my file: db.tt/2xTok2z (its a dropbox link)
I have a flash file which is 690 x 420 pixels. When I export it and set it up to play on jwplayer it shows with all of the pieces that are off the art board also. This is a test [URL].
I am wondering if it is possible to use random file access for reading and writing data to file in Actionscipt 3.0 similar to that what is in Visual Basic?
I've loaded and parsed some xhtml in my DataManager class that is validated against the W3C strict dtd.I'm pushing certian bits of this into public arrays in my DataManager. My ContentManager, calls to the DataManager, and is returned a corresponding data set ,instantiates a new GenericSection , and passes in the array as an argument in the constructor.[code]...
