What I want to do is to make a gallery based on the tutorial gallery here (thumbs), but I want the user to be able to choose different galleries from within the movie. I figured that I could make a loop to cycle through the galleries, then nest another loop inside it to cycle through the pics, captions and thumbs. While I wrote, I constantly tested the output with trace commands, but when I tried nesting the loop I lost all output.. I'm pretty new to both Flash and Actionscript, so if theres an obvious solution I havent been able to see it.. This is my temp XML file:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Photo Gallery Tutorial With Thumbnails Tutorial

Feb 28, 2006

original: I really just need to figure out how to center the pictures. here is what I did I have modified the tutorial that I finished to have a bigger stage for bigger pictures. Everything is working properly but the pictures are displayed on the left side, I want to have them centered in the stage for the images, after clicking on the thumbnails, plus my images are different sizes as well. ranging from 200x410 to 744x410 but all are the same height of 410. i will post up what I am talking about at the end. I believe it is something within either the action script or the xml coding that allows the position of the image to be differently? please help here is what i am talking about[URL] Continued: Here is my coding in action script:

ActionScript 2.0 :: XML For Gallery From Tutorial 'photo Gallery Using XML And Flash'?

Jan 15, 2010

i am trying to put some things together following the tutorials on this site. I did the tutorial 'Photo Gallery Using XML and Flash'and I followed it step by step and uploaded it with all the necessary files onto my remote server (xml file, Gallery folder, fla, swf, and html) - however, when I test the movie with flash, it seems to work fine (except the description test, my question to that later), but when I test it online it shows only the first image (but displays the correct number of images in the gallery); even when clicking the next button, it keeps loading the first image the first image. In other galleries (I use the structure for multiple galleries for my portfolio) the first image never loads at all.

Also, about the description text, in between the <caption> and </caption>, can I use <strong> and <em> and <br /> to change the appearance of my text? All it says is 'null'.If you want to look at what I mean check out my portfolio in the making. The problem with the first image displaying only is under 'paintings' and both the projects in 'design - packaging'. The second problem (no picture loading at all) is on some of the buttons in 'design - identity' (where I have not changed the description text of the tutorial yet).

Professional :: Convert A JQuery Lightbox Style Gallery Into A Flash XML Based Image Gallery With Categories?

Oct 26, 2010

I've made a gallery slideshow before but wasn't as intuitive looking back at it now and I want to start fresh on this new project. I would like to convert a jQuery lightbox style gallery into a flash XML based AS3 image gallery with categories. I don't want to code the FLA, I want separate AS files.

This is a school project for my website. I would use jQuery and I have more experience with it but this project needs a flash component. I'm just not sure where to start and looking for some advice on how and where I could find resources. I want it to be minimal as I can make it;

- 8 thumbnails to a "page/section" with more flowed into page 2 or 3 etc. (or a srcoller)

- a few buttons for categories

- images fading in full size with a description when hovered over and a close button

- preloader (simple bar)

Esentially something like this > http:[url].........works which is using http:[url].... for the thumbnails. That might be ambitious but I'd suffice with a simple fade effect.I've downloaded some galleries out there but most of the code is messy or outdated.http:[url]... this is alright, but all the code is done in the FLA. I might break it into AS files but it depends.

Actionscript 2.0 :: MP3Player Based On GTAL Tutorial Not Working?

Apr 3, 2009

I tried creating a music player based on Lee's tutorial (part 1 and 2). However, the code I used in my movie is slightly different from Lee's. Unfortunately, for some reason the mp3 player won't jump to the next song, like it does in the video tutorial. At first I thought there was a hidden error in my code, and later, after many tests I realized that the problem was the same even with Lee's files as well, which makes me wonder what's really happening here?I'm using Flash CS4 under Windows Vista Ultimate edition. However, I get the same strange behavior when I run the tutorial files on a different PC, in Flash CS3 under Vista Home Edition. This is why I believe that attaching my custom files to this thread is not necessary.

ActionScript 2.0 :: [FMX04] MODS To The XML Photo Gallery Tutorial (thumbs)

Jul 27, 2006

I was working with the XML Photo Gallery Thumbnail Tutorial on this site: [URL] And I modified it for my own usage, making it a vertical gallery instead, and had no problems until I came upon the thumbnail images. When I replaced the original thumbs with my new thumbs (that I sized based on width, as it is a vertical gallery) it got all screwed up. The images are of all different shapes. So when it loads up, some of them had huge gaps in between them, and others were even overlapping. So I fixed it by making the heights of all the images the same, resulting in a working thumb gallery, but now half my thumbs are cropped off by the mask. I'm looking for a way to fix it where I still have the same spacing between the images, and that they are all the same width, but can vary in their height. Here's the section of the code I am using:

ActionScript 2.0 :: Photo Gallery XML Tutorial - Grid Thumbnails Version?

Aug 1, 2006

I saw the tutorial here on how to make a Flash XML photo gallery with a scrolling thumbnail bar. Awesome!

The thing is, the example he DIDN'T choose to illustrate is the one I want make - exactly.[URl]..Is there somewhere else I can find this? The problem is that I have say, 16 photos and I want 4 displaying on the stage at one time. I want a forward / back button available to switch through the remaining 12 images, when the user clicks the buttons (as opposed to a scroller, which I find difficult to control and therefore less useable).

The problem comes when loading the four images from my XML file. I am able to load the first four, but how do I indicate in AS that the next four images are to be loaded, until there are no more images left? What if I add 5 more, I want to be able to have that AS load them. I was using a mod function in my script, but I keep getting the wrong remainder. I'll have to post the code later.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Dynamic Xml Based Grid Gallery

They display fine when static but I wanted them to only display when you mouse over the corresponding thumbnail.I have code that tweens all of the captions (thumb_caption) to 0% alpha and the tweens to 100% alpha upon MouseOver and then back to 0% alpha on MouseOut.At the moment there is one problem - When you hover over ANY thumbnail the caption for the LAST thumbnail fades in not the corresponding one for THAT thumbnail.Example - if I have 10 thumbnails and I hover over thumbnail 1 the caption for thumbnail 10 appears ontop of thumbnail 10. (not caption 1 over thumbnail 1 like it should!)[code]

ActionScript 2.0 :: Create An Image Gallery Based On An XML File?

Jan 8, 2009

I need to create an image gallery, based on an XML file, which displays both the thumbnails and the normal-sized images. Here's a link for you to get an idea of pretty much what I want to achieve, except for the fact that I don't want the thumbnails to slide to the left or right, I'd rather want them to be static, and if there are more thumbnails than, let's say 3, to display a "previous-next" controller. After following some tutorials, here's what I created so far:(you can also find all these files + the thumbnails in the attachment)The XML file (settings.xml):

PHP Code:

<slideshow>
<images>
<thumb tLink="th/01.jpg" desc="This is the first thumbnail" bLink="bigImgs/01b.jpg" />
<thumb tLink="th/02.jpg" desc="This is the second thumbnail" bLink="bigImgs/02b.jpg" />

[code]....

So far, so good, the script does trace what I told it to But I need to further improve this rather simple script. So, basically here's what I need:How do I load each thumbnail into a "container" movieclip, so I can further manipulate this movieclip's properties (do an easing for position, alpha, filters etc.)? There's one more thing I need to specify: I want to display only, let's say, 3 thumbnails at runtime, not all of them. how could I assign an instance name to each of them.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Xml Based Flash Gallery Including Thumbnails?

Sep 14, 2009

I've done some Action Script 2.0 before this, but never really moved outside of flash. meaning i can tween, animate, include buttons, so all the basics for a static website i can do, but now i'm currently doing some workplacement and am working on an xml based gallery.

I've gotten as far as being able to load a jpeg from a xml file into the swf. i also programmed a thumbnail panel. what it does so far is create as many thumbnails as there are nodes in the xml file. you can then scroll through them via mousemovement. what i can't figure out is how to load pictures into the thumbnails, seeing it is always the same movieclip but a different picture should be loaded in each one.

so here's some info on the code:

i create the thumbnails using the addChild Method. i add a movieclip called "thumbnail" from the library. like so:

for (var i:int = 1; i <= picamount; i++) {
createThumb();
function createThumb() {

ActionScript 3.0 :: Adding Sound To An XML Based Photo Gallery?

I am trying to make each picture load a different mp3.I have the general Idea of how it would be done but I don't know how put it to actionscript.I figured you would basically create a sound object that loads the specific mp3 from the xml file when the picture is clicked from the gallery.I think I might have some what of the idea right but I get an error everytime I load the swf file.

ActionScript 2.0 :: Debug Many Stuff From Xml Based Image Gallery?

Mar 16, 2009

i found a very nice tutorial about making an xml based gallery from oman3D which i use it as a base and change some codes abit for my own gallery project... but those modification comes with bugs that i can't figure out that makes me feel like stop learning this and kill myself T_T. among few things, i tried to add auto resize, auto center and a crossfade transition for the images but it has awesome bugs that i cant figure out why it happens..

most annoying bugs i got is that when i tried to center an image, which i did by substracting the default width and height of the gallery with the loaded image's width and height then divide it by 2 and adding the default position of the gallery so it should practically comes out with x and y that puts the image on the center of the allocated gallery space

well, it works but apparantly the image's height and width are rubbish, because sometimes the number is accurate and other times it may changes... i wonder is it accurate to get image's width and height property if that image is loaded with loadClip and the props are checked during onLoadInit

second bugs is that i tried to create a crossfade transition... or to the least a fade in-out transition, for the latter i manage to make it work by using tween script which starts fade out the old image and start the fade in of the new image using the onMotionComplete function

but after modifying other scripts it stops working for reasons i can't figure out.. also the tween script i added for reasons unknown will reset the position of the loaded images to 0,0 and i dont really have any idea on how to crossfade this ( the only thing i can think of is that i would duplicate the old image's mc then fade it above the new but it doesnt seem to work)

as for the auto-resize function i made, it did works perfectly until i figure out the original mc's size cannot be reverted back, so if i load a very large image, then unless the next image is as large or larger than the previous one, it becomes tiny... even after i tried to reset the mc's prop before every new images loaded..
