I have a movie clip that runs in its own timeline. I want to stop the movie clip from playing whenever the mouse is clicked (in this application I am actually using a touch screen and I want the movie clip to stop playing whenever the screen is touched). In addition, I want the movie to rewind back to frame one so that none of the movie clip images are left on the screen.

This is probably an easy question, but I fairly new at this. How do you let a movie clip play once then stop it on its last frame? I've noticed that you can't use AS on a movie clip frame like you can in the parent timeline. That's what I was trying to do.
EDIT:I figured it out. I just wasn't setting the parameters. I'm going to have a hard time with AS3 LOL

i'm trying to get a movieclip within a movieclip to stop playing when it reaches its last frame. let me describe my problem: it should start playing when the user rolls over the movieclip that is containing it(i'll call this mc1, and the movieclip within it mc2). i've put a stop action in mc2's last frame but it won't stop and plays again and again. one thing i should point out is that there is a variable in mc1 that tells the movie whether it's ok to play the movie in reverse when the user rolls over mc1, if this is false, that means that it plays normally(not in reverse). i'm using "play()" to play mc1 when the user rolls over it and this is where i think the problem is; even though the last frame of mc2 has a stop action, it is somehow told to play again? anyways, this is just a guess, i haven't figured out why or how to fix it. i'm not sure if my explanation was too hard to understand so i'll try to clarify it if anyone wants me to.

I have a movie clip that scrolls side to side when you rollover it but when the mouse is off it continues to scroll - I need the movieclip to slow to a stop when the mouse rolls of the movieclip. I've have been playing arounds with the hitest code (red) but this does not fix it... Its prolly a simple problem - I am not much of a coder....

I'm attempting to create a movie clip animation that plays a loop when you mouseover and when you mouse out off of the movie clip i want the loop to stop at that current frame and stay there until the next mouse over event which would then start playing the movieclip at "last" frame prior to the mouseout.

I'm still finding my way around even the simplest things in Actionscript. I have a movieclip named 'leaf9' in which I'm using as a button (which happens to be within another movieclip). I have the following actionscript on the frame which contains 'leaf9':

I've a main movie, for example, this movie has 3 buttons, in each button there's a MovieClip in the Over area, for example button1 contains a MovieClip with some animation, this clip has an Instance name clip1_mc, ok, untill this, everything it's ok, the effect it's easy to achieve, when I rollover my mouse over that button, the clip called clip1_mc starts to play, piece of cake, the problem is this, what happens if I call an extrenal .SWF, this .SWF contains a simple button, when I rollover this button I want to play my clip inside in my button in my main Movie, I cannot do this, I was trying with something like this:
on (rollOver) {
_parent.clip1_mc.play();
}
But this is not working.

i'm making a rollover menu with AS3, and when the user mouse clicks I want it to go to a certain frame in a movie clip and stop. It does this fine, however I have an animation for it to play on Mouse out. So when user mouse clicks then mouse outs from the button area it plays my mouse out animation and i'm back to square one. How can i tell it to ignore the mouse out animation if the user has clicked the button?

I have an Event.ENTER_FRAME that fires, to move a scrolling image bar given where stage.mouseY is located. But, when the mouse leaves the movie clip I need to force the scroller to stop. The MOUSE_LEAVE event fires when the mouse leaves the movie, but I have no way of stopping the scrolling behavior because I can't set the mouseY coordinates by hand. Is there a way to change the mouse coordinates programmatically? Can you manually trigger and event to stop firing?

I have a number of menu buttons (home, about, contact, etc). Each button loads a new/different movieclip onto the scene. Each movieclip when loaded plays up to frame 25 and stops. When I click on any of the menu buttons, I want the current/loaded movieclip to continue playing until it reaches the end of the clip before loading the next. I tried this actionscript with no luck!

I am using AS2 in CS5.5.I am creating a project for a class that introduced me to adobe flash. The issue is I have gotten to a certain point about 15 scenes. During say the 15th scene scrolling through the timeline animations works fine, playing it on test scene works fine. When I go to play it on test movie it stops at a certain point. At first I thought it might have been a misplaced stop action but there is none to be found. The weird part is every other scene I create after that continues to freeze as well, the images are there, but the animations won't play. All my previous animations play before those with the issue, it's justThese new ones won't play for some reason in test movie, but work completely fine in test scene and the timeline.

I am creating a game that has 6 movieclips all on the main time line of the game. Each movie clip has three buttons that when clicked plays, pauses or stops a sound clip.When I press any of the sound clip play buttons that sound starts playing, the problem is when I click any of the other sound clip play buttons those sounds also start to play. Is there a way I can disable the other sound clip buttons while the current sound is playing then enable all of the buttons when the current sound has stopped.

So I made a few buttons with sounds within them and when I publish it they work just fine. But what I want them to do is;
Say I click a Button.The sound starts playing.Then I click it again, before the sounds done playing.I want it to stop the playing sound and start playing the button I just clicked on, whether it be the same button, or a different one.Right now it just ends up sounds like an echo because it'll play it as many times as you click it.

The problem I have is I click the play button and start playing. Then I click next and when I click play for another song the songs overlap. How can I stop whatever song is playing and start playing the new one? Has to stop the prev song when I click play_brn.

So I have this mc: this.slidingMenu it's a mc of a ring shaped menu, which turn around when 2 button get clicked. When the button on the right, mc goes forward until stop(), when the button on the left mc goes reverse until the stop(). In the first case i use gotoanplay, and everything goes fine. I want a movie clip (let's call it homecontent_MC) with 100 frames play to frame 80 and stop.Then when someone clicks a button on the navigation bar (home, about, services, contact, etc...) homecontent_MC would then begin playing from it's position (frame 80) til it reaches 100, at which point it wouldn't be on screen, and the movie clip that corresponds to the navigation button press (say services_MC...) would start from frame 1 and continue til it stops at it's frame 80...

ok so i have a button that plays an animation for fire when held down. and when realsed goes to and stops and frame one. when it reaches the end of the time line it goes to and plays at frame 10 and goes back to the end of the timeline. I have a sound for the fire animation that plays for the effect. The problem is the sound keeps going untill its over even if the button isnt held down. and when the playhead reaches the end of the timeline it goes to and plays and frame 10 and it replays the sound. if i hold it down it will just keep playing the sound over and over from start to finish. what i want it to do it when i hold the button down i want it to play the sound and when released it stops the sound where ever it is at. I also dont the sound to play again if there is a sound already going to stop it from playing 20 sounds at one time it gets loud and you need asprin after about 5 seconds of that.

I have created a movie clip button but am stuck with the actionscript. I have created the rollover and rollout for this movie clip button but i want it to do 2 things after this i want it to go and stop on the first frame of a movieclip which has my content on it called portfoliogallery_mc (which is also the same instance name for it) when you then click the button i want it to go and play frame 11 of that movie clip portfolio gallery_mc. Here is my current actionscript i HAVE Flash 8 on my comp that i am currently using. I created a swf which loads multiple external swfs to 100% before playing. Which works fine. If I stop a clip while it's loading, I call loader.close() and I'm able to resume from where I left off at a later time. The problem I'm having is when I added the functionality to load the next clip while the current clip is playing. To be clear, I'll refer to the normal preloader as preloader, and the preloader which loads the next clip as pre-preloader. If the pre-preloader loads to 100%, everything is good. The next clip will play immediately without having to wait. If, however, the pre-preloader for the next clip is stopped at any point before 100%, the preloader will start loading at 0%.
With that being said, If I go back to the previous clip (which was previously already playing), the pre-preloader will pick back up where it left off, then if I go forward again, the preloader will pick up where IT left off.

I'm trying to get a movie clip to automatically load up another external clip, after playing an embedded flv.
This is what I've tried so far:
var holdFrame = setInterval( holdFrame, 5000);
gotoAndPlay(
_root.mc_holder.loadMovie("swf/library.swf"));
clearInterval (holdFrame);
Although it throws no errors, the setInterval is ignored and it just loads direct into the next mc clip.
