ActionScript 2.0 :: [Flash8] Place An External Swf File On It In A Desired Position When The Corresponding Page Is Being Loaded + Scaling
Aug 18, 2006I have a flash file (a flash navigation bar actually, which gets loaded in all the webpages inside the website). What I am trying to do is place an external swf file on it in a desired position when the corresponding page is being loaded. I am using FlashVars (variable name -> 'movieName') to pass the name of the movie clips. These variables are read by the navigation swf file and the corresponding swf file should be loaded in the area specified. Now, to create a container, I am using createEmptyMovieClip() method which will host all the external swf files.
The swf files are all being loaded but with a lot of problems. First, no matter what I try, the swf file comes at a fixed place (which is way off from where it is supposed to be). I have tried checking if the container loaded the movie before fixing its position but it changed nothing. Although it did change the position of a weird background colour box I am getting when the movie starts loading - which brings me to the second problem.
A rectangular box flashes once when the external swf is loaded, and its position is being affected by whatever I am setting the _x & _y values of the container movies to. I have no idea why it is happening as it doesn't happen when I test that swf seperately.

Feb 18, 2009I want it to while still easing into place like the iphone does. For example my stage is 550px. The drag and throw MC is 1650. That's 550x3. If the first image is showing starting at x axis 0 and you drag to the left it will ease into place stopping and showing the second image stopping the image at x axis 0. And the same thing scrolling to the next one and scrolling back. So the code is below and I've attached the movie that I'm working on.

May 18, 2010I have my stage. On the left side, I imported an image to the stage and converted it to a movie clip. I then added code so that it can be dragged and dropped. On the right hand side, I created an area for it to be dropped into. This is just a rectangle which has been converted to a movie clip. When the image is dropped, it resizes to the size of the movie clip rectangle. Is there anyway to make it snap into place inside the movie clip?

(I don't have the rep to make both of these a link)Both examples have "View Source" enabled.To see the problem use the broken example, select an album and scroll down one row. Scroll back up and the images will be switched.If you try this on the working example it's fine.This seems to be a widely known bug, but I can't find a solution for it.
UPDATE: I started playing with this example again and found out something else. Turns out you don't have to override the data setter. You can create a new method in the itemRenderer that is set whenever the tile wants to refresh. So the trick is to not rely on the initialize or creationComplete methods.This is what I have for the itemRenderer in the Application.

Aug 23, 2010so I have a pretty big flash file on my homepage, which raises a few issues about what to do if the user doesn't have flash player installed on his/her PC.
I would like to make sure that if the user has a old version of flash player, or doesn't have it at all, a backup image will display in place of the flash, how can I accomplish that?
