Im trying to load random from the library 10 mc's. Which is not a problem.

But once the loaded movie finishes playing would like to unload it and to load another random another movie and so on.

I have 15 empty placeholder on my stage, named "empty01" - "empty15". I have 15 mcs in my library, with linkage identifiers "01" - "15".

I would prefer for 'empty01' to load a random mc. Can anyone advise how I could achieve this? I have tried to create an array containing the 15 library mcs (not sure if this is correct):

I need to load random movieClips from the library to a middleStage container on my stage. I already have this.

I have 4 groups of movieclips all with different names.

Example:

Group1 contains dog_mc, cat_mc and bird_mc
Group2 contains shoe_mc, hat_mc and pants_mc
etc...

What I am trying to do is load a random group initially (either 1-4), then I want to play that group of movieclips. Once that group is completed playing all its movieclips, I want to move on to the next group and play all those movieclips. When all groups and movieclips have completed, I want to loop back to the start.

I want a movieclip consisting of a dynamic text box that, from the time it's loaded onto the stage, loads a randomly selected text string from an array, and continues to loop until the clip is removed from the stage. I also want the text strings to appear in the text box for random intervals between 500 and 3000 milliseconds.

While I've found tutorials here and elsewhere on loading one element from an array, usually triggered by a button, I don't know how to combine/alter it with the other elements.So I want this movieclip on the stage randomly flashing phrases from an array, some for a barely perceptible time, and others for a readable time.

I've been putting data into an array via XML, and then selecting at random an image string to load in a pic at random. But whilst doing this, I wanted to remove the String from the Array that I have just used, so I don't get repetition of the same image in the output. I initially thought that pop would remove the string I had just used - But of course it Removes the last value in the Array instead, which doesn't really help.

Ok - so how about randomizing the data once inside the Array, after it has been pulled in from XML!? That way I can load in the 'last' image, and then pop it out! Keeping a randomized selection of images each time 'it' is loaded

There are some threads about this but they are all pretty messy What I am looking for seems pretty straight forward. User push a button, a random mc is attached from the library. User keeps pushing the button until all mc's are shown, i.e. all mc's are shown only once.What I got is 5 mc's in the library with linkage 1 to 5. i am hoping that one of the bright sparks on here can help me to get something working correctly.i have a movie that has a number of mc's that have sounds relating to them - when the mc is clicked, one of a number of library mp3's should play at random. each mc has upto three associated sounds.

at the moment the tunes play on click but sometimes repeat - i need to ensure that each plays a different sound in any given order. this is the script that i have on the mc's to define the playing of a sound - in this instance the "playexplosion" is the call for the sound and it uses the vars/array to call the specific mp3 (explosiona/explosionb etc.

is there something obvious that i am missing in that script? or is there a line i can add to tell the mc to not repeat until one of the other mp3's has been played? it is driving me nuts at the moment - and should in theory be straight forward enough, but in practice it is not that easy

I'm trying to display random movie clips within the library (See attached fla)
each movie clip needs to display (fade in/fade out) and then proceed to display another movie clip from the library

You'll see how i have tried to do this is by creating a random number

this code works, as it always selects a random frame and plays the movie clip within but then stops.

I need to then select another mc after this animation has finished and so on within a loop

basically, im trying to load random movie clips from the library when i run the function "TRO1".. the logic behind what im trying to do is to to first create an array containing the class names (name given in the "linkage" option) of the movie clips in the library... then randomly select an item from that array... then bring it to the stage.. Here is the code I typed:

When i try to run the function, i get the error message "Instantiation attempted on a non-constructor..."

I think the problem is that flash doesn't understand what "randomCharacter" is in the line "var character:MovieClip = new randomCharacter();"... I assume there is a proper way of writing the "randomCharacter" variable so that i can use it in the succeeding line...

With some excellent help from ilike2 I was able to import random objects from a library that can then be dragged to their respective targets (on repeat). However, I forgot to mention that I need to drag more than one of these objects onto the same target and I don't know how to change the actionscript to accommodate this. Basically, I have movie1, movie2, movie3, movie4 in the library, with linkages.

These are just 5 frame clips, with a single dummy_mc moving statically over the 4 frames.

I need these to be picked randomly and placed (each has its own set of co-ordinates where it should appear) on the stage at a random set interval (ie, every 2-3 seconds).

There are also 7 items (item1, item2, etc) in the library.

So once one of the 4 movies has been placed on the stage, I need one of these 7 items to randomly attach itself to the dummy_mc within that movie (and, I guess, generate instance names etc)

I'm creating a mask effect. i create 10 movieclip with a library class reference that appear on the screen with a random alpha effect. THe problem is that if i try the effect alone all works ok. if i mask the layer that contains the effect on an image i don't see the effect. i see directly the image masked with the boxes. i can't explain that because i've the effect first but it seems that when i test the movie the effect doesn't play and the boxes appear directly on the screen.

I'm trying to load png images from library. My code is:

I tried this.addChild(deactiveShow_mc) and addChild(MovieClip(deactiveShow_mc) and addChild(BitmapData(deactiveShow_mc) but it gives various errors. How can I fix this?
