View 6 RepliesI'm trying to develop a SWF Api that consists of a game that makes random objects fall from the top, each of them has different points, and then the points the player gets should be stored into a dinamic text called score, when the player doesn't take the ball, loses a life. Then, if the player catches it, the ball disappears and gives the points to the player.
View 3 RepliesI'm sort of new to Flash, have been using it for ages but just to animate, i haven't done any programming or interactive stuff for years, so i feel new to it again!Creating a very simple platform.Movie clip of the character (instance name z_1)- runs button - when pressed makes z_1 invisible and loads another movieclip of him firing a weapon (z_fire). (also makes ground stop moving- basically game is a static running animation, over a moving ground, if that makes sense)This all works fine, i even figured how to make the score increase!After the firing animation is finished (there is a stop on the movieclip) i want the original running animation to be visible again and for the ground etc to play again. The firing animation is only 12 frames long so i imagine i need to tell the button to resume normal service on the stage after that time period![code]It's probably completely wrong but it works, i just need to know the extra code to make the original animations start back again after z_fire has played.

I've sorted the left,right and jumping movement of my character - apart from one jumpingproblem:When the up arrow key is down it sets the jump var to true.ENTER_FRAME function detects when jump = true and it decreases thecharacters y position by the var velocity while at the same timedecreasing velocity by 1.5px. So my character jumps up to a certainheight then comes down - There is a hit test to stop heump/fall. BUT when the character falls off a platform he can still jumpwhen the up arrow is pressed. I've been racking my brains but I canstop the character from jumping if its falling.

The player acts as a bagger and must click and drag the groceries into designated bags (one for cold food and one for non-cold food). When the correct choice is made the food will disappear and the score will increase +1.
I have become overwhelmed by thinking about how to do this and have not found helpful answers that actually work when I try to compile them so I decided to ask. how I can have random grocery items fall down the screen? I assumed I could create an array of movieclips and have them be called to fall down randomly, but I am not sure how this would work.
I'm trying to make a 3rd person chase game. An issue I'm coming across that I would like to get some advice on is the AS I'm using for the walls.First off, here's the code for the character:

The whole idea behind this is to create a sort of acceleration. Now, when the player hits a wall, it's supposed to stop him.

Now, the code does what it's supposed to. This is a left wall. It stops the guy, and even pushes him back to the right. However, if the guy has some acceleration going toward to wall, he can go through it a bit.Example: The character is traveling at 8 pixels, but only three pixels away from the wall. In the next frame, he will move 8 pixels, and be 5 frames into the wall.
I am new to flash and im trying to make a game. Im stuck on hitTest. I have many black boxes falling down and I want the game to reset when the black boxes touch my red circle. I used this code for my boxes:

View 5 RepliesI'm trying to do a simple game in which you have to move a frog in X axis to catch the falling flies. sorry if I mistake some words cuz I talk in spanish It's already done, but it has 2 bugs and I dunno what the reasons are
The 1st bug, Each time the game is over, and you click in "PLAY AGAIN ", I could notice that the frog movement (which you can move by pressing the keys) is increased a little; for example if you played 6 times the 7th you can reach the opposite side by pressing the corresponding key 2 times, despite the fact that in the code i did write only +15px for the right when you press right arrow and -15px for the left when you press the left one (on X axis) for each time the key is pressed

I am really new with flash and yet I needed to construct a simple one level game. What I have now is kinda similar to pacman but a bit different.
1) Lets say, like pacman, the user's character need to pick up things in the maze. but instead of the items are already there, i would like to have some already there and then when the user pass the path, some will randomly appear in the maze. e.g : like the fruits that will randomly appear in pacman.
2) How to make the bad character constantly chase the user's character throughout the game. only one bad character in this game chasing.
I have some code here for some falling leaves. I was wondering how it can be altered so there is a delay between a group of leaves falling and the next group falling? also to slow down at the end of the fall? [code]

I have tried already with toggling visibility and 'gotoAndStop()' to make items appear over other items when the corresponding button is pressed, for example, when the user tries out different pants/shirts on their character.
I would like to use the selectionMode=multiple described in the Flex docs, but with a few modifications:
1) I would like the box that the user drags over the graph to remain there until the user drags a new one.
2) In the top right corner of the box I want to display the sum of the items selected by that box.

View 2 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
im having some dificulties in the combobox of Flex 3, after defining the dataProvider and filling the combobox, how can i remove the items in the combobox later (without removing items in the dataprovider)? if i set the provider to "" or null, the items in the combobox are still there
View 1 RepliesI did the excellent tutorial on Falling Snow for Flash CS4/AS3 on this website.I now want to add further graphics and animations to the snow for an e-card I'm creating.I have tried to add to the timeline and animate a logo, but then the snow just flashes on and off in one piece. Is there a way I can make the snow fall, say, halfway through my animation so I can add other things to it?

View 2 Replies I am not exactly new to Flash in that I can do several things with it. However, I am not anywhere near expert status. I am working on an interactive map of a college campus for my employer. I am employing buttons that, when moused over, display a large image of each campus building. The question is this: is there a way to also have maybe an actionscript that would center that image automatically?
In other words, if the building I want to show is on the right hand side of an internet explorer window and I mouse over it, is there a way to have the map auto scroll the window to center the image that pops up on mouse over?
Can images be stored in some sort of array and then called to the stage ramdomly?
View 1 RepliesI have been asked to loop an existing FLV file that someone else created. I do not know what version of Flash was used to create this file, however I do have an older version 7.2 Flash MX Pro. Currently the FLV starts automatically and stops and the end of the movie. The owner of the site would like the movie to start over with a continuous loop. I'm pretty much of a rookie with Flash and with HTML5 coming out soon, I don't think I'll get a chance to become a pro at this.

Is there any way to have the snow fall to an end instead of just disappear? So it looks more natural? I would even take a fade to alpha =0. I have attached the .fla file for viewing.

What I'd like is for the snow to move from right to left, but still with the random y position.This code gives me snow (particle) moving right, left, and right again but most ends up along the top (y value of 0).

View 3 RepliesI have this movie where there are dynamic buttons generated. When you click on one, a window(movieclip) slides in over them. All is well and good. However, the window covering the buttons does not stop you from being able to click through it and onto the buttons below. Is these anyway to tell the window to disallow this, or am I going to have to loop through the buttons and disable them when the window is open?

Also, the three white bars are dragable, but i want them to swing back in to place when you release them. Is this also possible with a tween ? or do i need to code something physic-like.[code]...
