I am new to flash and im trying to make a game. Im stuck on hitTest. I have many black boxes falling down and I want the game to reset when the black boxes touch my red circle. I used this code for my boxes:

I am a student working on a project with flash. I am simply trying to make a flash game using Actionscript 3 in Adobe Flash CS5. Everything is working fine, i can walk and jump, but I want the game to restart if the Main character touches an object and dies (like spikes in a pit). I have a main menu in frame 1 and the first level on frame 2. The main character is called "player_mc" and the object that kills him is called "dies".

Ok, so i am working on a platform game, I am new to making games, but I enjoy it! I need a little help with resetting a Move Clip if there is a hitTest! MY EXAMPLE: When the HP bar hits the bottm, my character resets. I want him to reset AND reset the the MC, or give full HP again. So, how can I take my code below and make it so that when the hitTest is true, it ALSO resets my movie clip?

I'm trying to develop a SWF Api that consists of a game that makes random objects fall from the top, each of them has different points, and then the points the player gets should be stored into a dinamic text called score, when the player doesn't take the ball, loses a life. Then, if the player catches it, the ball disappears and gives the points to the player.

I'm making a platform game in AS3. I've sorted the left,right and jumping movement of my character - apart from one jumpingproblem:When the up arrow key is down it sets the jump var to true.ENTER_FRAME function detects when jump = true and it decreases thecharacters y position by the var velocity while at the same timedecreasing velocity by 1.5px. So my character jumps up to a certainheight then comes down - There is a hit test to stop heump/fall. BUT when the character falls off a platform he can still jumpwhen the up arrow is pressed. I've been racking my brains but I canstop the character from jumping if its falling.

I am attempting to create a game that will simulate groceries coming down a conveyor belt. The player acts as a bagger and must click and drag the groceries into designated bags (one for cold food and one for non-cold food). When the correct choice is made the food will disappear and the score will increase +1.
I have become overwhelmed by thinking about how to do this and have not found helpful answers that actually work when I try to compile them so I decided to ask. how I can have random grocery items fall down the screen? I assumed I could create an array of movieclips and have them be called to fall down randomly, but I am not sure how this would work.

I'm trying to do a simple game in which you have to move a frog in X axis to catch the falling flies. sorry if I mistake some words cuz I talk in spanish It's already done, but it has 2 bugs and I dunno what the reasons are
The 1st bug, Each time the game is over, and you click in "PLAY AGAIN ", I could notice that the frog movement (which you can move by pressing the keys) is increased a little; for example if you played 6 times the 7th you can reach the opposite side by pressing the corresponding key 2 times, despite the fact that in the code i did write only +15px for the right when you press right arrow and -15px for the left when you press the left one (on X axis) for each time the key is pressed

I am trying to make a game in Flash using Action Script 3,
I have everything in the game and the game works, but I am trying to add a restart function so the game will go back to the start of the level when you pres the 'R' key.
My game starts off with a title screen on Frame 1, and there are 2 levels, 1 is in frame 2 and the other is in frame 3.
When you click the level you want on the title screen it takes you to the frame which has the required level in it by using a gotoAndStop[code]...

i have spent several days on this and still can't get it to work. The code below is ok, I am playing a bowling game using the keyboard and timer with a text readout of the elapsed time, the bowl moves a set number of pixels on the screen. whilst in full screen mode I would like to click a start/play button on the screen to start the game and timer again, everything is in frame 1. Also I would like the game to just accept the keycode 77 and keyboard event (2 events only to move the bowl) and then wait for the start/play button click.

The Setup: For each movieclip the hittests a set of "target" movieclips an array is given a value. If mcIcon1 is dropped onto mcTarget1 the first number in the vacant array is given the value of one. The Issue: If I remove mcIcon1, for example, from the mcTarget1 movieclip I can't find a way of just removing the 1 from that array without the rest of the array numbers being reset.

Basically what happens is 5 eggs fall from the top of the screen. What I'm trying to have happen is, to have flash recognize when all 5 have been clicked and goto and stop on frame 3. The other problem is I want the animation to reset when the timer runs out. Thus clearing all current eggs off the stage. I've zipped the 2 files I'm working with the (fla and as files).

I have a timer and a dynamic textfield wich displays the time. Everytime my movieclip hits an enemy I want the timer to add 4 sec. to the current count. I would like to know why this isn't working:

(does nothing)

I'm building a a space shooter "Defender" type game, and I'm having a problem with the hit test. My laser hits the enemy (which a duplicate). Enemy movie clip goes to it's frame to which a short explosion animation. The hit test works fine, but since there is more than frame in the "enemy" movie clip, the hit test cycles through every frame of the "enemy" clip until it passes through it's boundaries. Is there a way to only have it hit test with only the first frame of a movie clip?
This is the script on my laser movie clip that performs the hit test:

Non-programmer here, struggling with having to now (finally) work in AS3.I've looked around, but can't find something similar (or as simple) as my old AS2 scoring - hitTest method was.Problem 1: my converted AS3 game does not hitTest or score.[code]I have a Dynamic text box on the stage named "scorecounter" which is now displaying "0" when the game plays. This is correct.When the gun (mouse) is clicked, we then tell the "hittest1" MC to play, which will detect hits. All Correct.[code]The hittest1 MC plays, and checks if the "cursor" MC was touching the "bug1", and tells it to animate (splat) All bug detections are listed in the hitTest frame - "bug1" through "bug30", ie. the code below x 30. This Fails - maybe because the hitTest MC lists all 30, and not all bugs are visibile at once, some are hidden until required later in the game?[code]Then on the last frame of the "bug1" MC (frame 10), it tells the score to add one. Also Fails - maybe because of errors above, nothing is being processed now.[code]

I need to create a game where you drag and drop clothing onto a body that snaps into place then when the body is fully clothed you click a button to see if the clothing you selected is correct. There will be 4 different areas of clothing with 3 options for each area, one for each area is correct. how to achieve this? In either actionScript 2 or 3.

I posted a bit earlier about some problems I had with a game I'm trying to do.[URL].. My first and main problem is that the ennemies are going through the walls. I can do a hiTest like with the player so that the collision is detected, but I don't know how to make the ennemy change direction. I thought it would be quite simpler if the ennemies could not move simultaneously on the x and y axis, but don't know how to do it. (then they would only need to make a 90 degrees turn)
Second problem is the hitTest for detecting collisions with the ennemies. It seems like I'm not able to do it. There is the part which I thought would be good at the end of the script in commentary. Third problem, which is the least important in my eyes is that we see the ennemies even if the "flashlight" is not aimed towards them.

i am working on a game called "virus". you click somewhere on the screen and the virus goes to where you click. you have to dodge random moving white blood cells, and if you hit them you lose. everything is working. except for one thing. scoring.
i have made a movieclip with a dynamic textbox in (score), and in the movie clip there is a section where the number in the score textbox goes up really quickly, a section where is goes up medium, and a section where it goes up slowly. i want to make it so that when you get closer to the center of the movie, for the score to go up quicly, and slower as you get further out. i have tried hittest with movie clips in the centre of the stage, but it doesnt seem to work.

ok so if i have an obect called square1 and an object called square2 and inside square2 i have hitArea... i want to use shapeflag to detect an absolute true hitTest on just the area of square1 not the bounding box.... i tried this code and it didnt work...

I have a function that checks if 2 objects are touching OB1 and OB2, if they do touch it runs the rest of the collision code where OB1 is the character and OB2 is a tile that the player cannot pass through.
I came across an issue where i wanted sprites to be separate from the hitboxes but my collision code works by checking the height and width of an object (you guys know the drill).
So i have a Tile class with 2 parts to it, a bitmap and a movieClip.
So i have this setup(pseudocode):

This should work right? But it ONLY works for the first object in the loop!

with a "what should be fairly simple" problem I am having with the quiz template. I have a 5 frame quiz that I've developed from the template. All 5 interactions are Hot Object interaction types. The problem I am having is when I go from one frame to the next, the Hot Objects do not reset. Whatever the selection from the previous slide was, remains in a selected state.
I've tried renaming the Interactions in the Component Inspector, but that doesn't work. If I put some other interaction between two Hot Object Interactions, no problem. It's only when they are consecutive.

I am working on an application where an image serves as cursor. Now i would like to know at any time over which object the cursor is hovering. Sort of like a HitTestObject(*) where i can then see what object the * represents. how i could accomplish this? (and using the mouse is not an option)
