i have a problem. I would like to retrive xml data from an external file. An than i would collect data from that xml to be compared with some id buttons.ex. IF (xml output atributte) == (id of button), than dissplay button red, else dissplay blue.I have no problems till here. This is the array and its conntent.

I was just curious if an array can make itself.ie, I want an array to be [1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1] that sounds silly but there is a reason for it.So without having to say 1,1,1,1,1 dozens of times is it possible to just have some variables, 1, and 100, and have the array make 1, 100 times?or have while (array length = = 100? array = 1?

I have a menu files that loads all the swf clips I have in another folder.I did it in an array so that it calls to the clip and then plays it in the movieclip I have in the menu flash file.And yes, I use Actionscript 2.0.My question is, how can I make a player control that will skip to the previous swf that has been played.I have a rewind button already, but it doesn't rewind through the previously-played swfs.I'm trying to think of a code that will load the previous swf file played in the array when a button is clicked.Similarly, I would like to do that with a forward button and simply have it move to the next swf in the array line up.I'll just tweak a little bit of the code I'd have for the previous swf button.I just don't know where to begin.It seems like I almost have it figured out, but I'm just missing a key element.

Its just that they want to be able to update the phrases themselves = external txt file to populate the array. My problem right now is that i am trying to load data into flash from a database as a two diminsional array. currently i have a two diminsional array in flash named num. num holds values for the color of each box: for example num[2][0] holds a number (1-8, each corresponding with a color) for the first box in moday for employee 3. How would i parse information so that the arrays can be filled with data from a text or asp file (MIME format). I tried to do this: num[0][0]=2&num[1][2]but it didnt work.

I am building a jukebox for a website, which has a genres, bands, and tracks list.These are all populated from a MySQL DB. The info is dumped into a listbox component.ll of the lists are working, but on the tracks list, i need to pull the track name,and its filepath. So that I can assign the track name to the lable property, and the filepath to the data property.My problem, is that I cannot get a multiple value array from php to flash, it keeps coming up as undefined.

View 4 RepliesI also want another fla file to be able to reference this external array and pull the top 15 scores from it, and then display those scores on a scrolling banner. I want the banner to be able to update dynamically (I assume reloading the banner fla each time it reaches the end of its cycle, having the first frame load the external array on an onClipEvent action would accomplish this), that way it will update while remaining open. The main reason I need two separate files for the quiz and the score banner is they will be displayed on two different monitors. What would be the most efficient way of accomplishing this? I know a little about actionscript but I don't have much experience with calling data and functions from external fla or as files (the array and the function designating how the data will be arranged within said array are going to be in a separate .as file).

If i was loading external content, such as images or what not will the array load the items twice for example:

}
The above is in theory, if you notice twice i have the "bike.jpeg" image in the array; its key value would be either items[1] or items [2].
so with the above idea in mind would this bike image be loaded twice or just referenced in the array from the first initial load.
I have written a simple program to randomly generate the name of a student from my class. Other teachers have asked if they could have a copy but as you can see from the code, I have to manually enter their students' names into the array.I wonder if there is a way to enter a list of names into the array from an external file so that teacher's can enter their own students' names and change them when needed.
