Oct 10, 2009I am trying to make an interactive flash application that works by detecting mouse overs and clicks on various buttons/movie clips and then moves to the appropriate part of the time line. But I am having an issue when I use more than one addEventListener in any one frame. I have attached the code for one such frame below. When I comment out the addEventListner and the other code relating to the followBall function this works fine and directs the user to frame Inlet_Valve_Open_Frame but now only the followBall function is working and when i try to click on the Inlet_Valve_Button movie clip nothing happens.
I have never read all the help files on the adobe flash CS3 as i don't have time and i have built this code up based on examples i have found online. I wanted to include my fla file but it's to big 6Mb. But i have attached the swf so you have an idea what i am doing.

Aug 9, 2007i have a problem. I would like to retrive xml data from an external file. An than i would collect data from that xml to be compared with some id buttons.ex. IF (xml output atributte) == (id of button), than dissplay button red, else dissplay blue.I have no problems till here. This is the array and its conntent.

If I use the the tag, I can do it; however the xml compiles into my swf. How can I retain the xml file in my release build?

Nov 25, 2010I'm trying to do a game in as3, but i get a problem, i got an array :var movieClipArray:Array = new Array(new monClip1(),new monClip2(),new monClip3(),new monClip4(),new monClip5())that each clip appears randomly and for a random time, but for special buttons, you can suppress some clips, the problem is that with monClip1, and monClip5, its quiet easy with shift() and pop(), because they will always be the first and last of the array, but for the rest, s they wont be the same order, we cant only use a splice(), so I tried with indexOf, but it doesnt work ...

Dec 18, 2009What I am trying to accomplish here is to have my main movie resume playing when an external movie is closed. I.E. How can I make my main know that the external movie is closed and to "re activate certain functions" and to resume playing?
Oh, not too sure if this is needed, but I am loading the external movie with an external preloader that loads the movie. The main movie loads, and external preloader, which actually loads the external movie. Again not sure if this effects anything.

There are hundreds of clocks to download on the net, which run on there own and do not open in flash player. How is this done?

Nov 20, 2011I've followed the Adobe instrunctions on how to create an app without windows (link).
The gist is that you can do this by hiding or closing the original nativeWindow and creating a new one with theUTILITY or LIGHTWEIGHT property.
Unfortunately, when an application is launched more than once, the new nativeWindow is created again with each launch. This is highly undesirable.
I've tried setting variables with the launch of the application, but it seems like these are not accessible by the new instances of the application. The weird thing is: AIR apps are not supposed to have multiple intances (should be impossible)! And there actually is only one instance according to the windows task manager and the fact that there is only one systemtray icon.
Java :: Fullscreen Flash Application Test Needs External Pokes
Nov 28, 2009I'm testing a full-screen Flash application. My preference is to drive the process with Java and I've had a lot of luck with the java.awt.Robot class. I'm looking for ways of modifying the test's behavior while the app still occupies the full screen. So far, I've found one "outside control", the caps lock key. If I see the process go horribly wrong, I turn on caps lock. Toolkit.getLockingKeyState notices that caps lock is on, and the test is terminated.
I need additional ways to change test operation, like "pause test" and "next test case." It looks like I could use num lock and scroll lock, but my tests need to run on Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux, so I can't count on having those keys. This is a small operation, so it's ok if the method isn't refined. But not as kludgy as overloading the caps lock key with 5 different operations. I have no internal control of the application; I'm supposed to "test" just like a user.

Feb 7, 2011I have my main application, which contains several instances of a component that create a grid of photos belonging to a certain category. (the grids, and the photos are created dynamically with a loop).
I'd like to be able to click a photo to run a function that loads the large version of the photo into a separate element that is contained in the main application. So I created a Photo component in my main application, but how, using actionscript, do I change the 'currentphoto' variable in my main application from inside the tileview component?
Alternately I could put the function in the main application (probably more logical in the long run), but how would I call it from the child component?
