ActionScript 2.0 :: MovieClip Depths - Obscuring Content Of Root SWF?

I have a question regarding the depths of movie clips in flash. The situation is as follows: I have a main swf with manually set movie clips that act as buttons in this case; this main swf acts as a search form that once it is filled a search results window (also a movie clip from library) pops up on top of the main swf and all its buttons-clips. Now here is the thing, the new pop up window movie clip DOES obscure the form on the main swf visually, however when I go over the new window clip, the buttons of the main form that are beneath it are still detected by flash player and are NOT obscured by the new window action wise, although visually they are not seen. How can I make the pop up movie clip obscure the contents of _root movie clip and its contents visually AND functionally.

This is sort of a two part question. I'm building a flash image viewer to be a portable age-restricted module (violent video games). Basically, it will load any number of images from a CDN and require the user to enter their birthday before viewing it. Simple stuff. The problem is that, per company policy, we can't allow those images to be directly accessible by any means of sniffing (eg, watching your Resources/Net tab in Webkit/Firebug, or watching XHR if we loaded them that way). So, I'd like to get your opinions about the best way to approach this.
At first I thought to have a server-side script that loads the image (eg via PHP) by passing a var that can be decrypted but with a dynamic salt, eg, using a method that is very unlikely to be discovered (for example, having the salt be embedded throughout the string), but that defeats the purpose of the CDN as all requests would be geolocated to the server.
Then I thought that loading the images via sockets would be a good solution, however, I'm having trouble converting the binary image (after removing the response headers) to a Bitmap.Is there a better way to go about this? I know that realistically it's impossible to completely prevent the content from being linked to (eg someone could screenshot the flash) but my goal is just to take steps on our side to prevent that from happening by native means. Below is the socket code (irrelevant parts removed), if that helps any.

As I'm writing I'm thinking that in SocketRequest::evt_socketResponse(), the this.sock.readUTFBytes() bit should really be:
this.request.response_parts.push(this.sock.readBytes(this.data, this.data.length, evt.bytesLoaded));
and then remove the headers from this.data, but TBH I'm not super ByteArray-savvy.

I'm trying to create a Flash Movie that emulates those poetry magnets. There are a bunch of buttons (magnets) on the stage and when you click on one, you can drag it and place it next to another. That way you can write sentences by moving the buttons (magnets). The only problem is that I want it so when I click on a button (magnet), that it sets it's depth higher than the other ones so it will look realistic, like you are actually moving it over the others insted of over some and under others. Is there anything that I can add to the on (press) handler to change the depth of the movie clip being clicked on?

How do you tell the root timeline to root.gotoAndStop(2); from the timeline of a movieClip added using addChild?In the maintime line I have
addChild(fade_eng);
and in fade_eng I have the following on frame 20
root.gotoAndStop(2);
this.gotoAndStop(1);
But I am getting 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method gotoAndStop through a reference with static type flash.display:Stage.

I am trying to create a way of controlling movieclip depths, which movieclip is show above another, so that I can set the depth of a movieclip to any number and they will be displayed with higher values above lower values. I was thinking of creating a MovieClipDepth class that extends MovieClip with the added property depth, and a Container class that extends DisplayObjectContainer which all objects will be placed inside of. The Container class will override the addChild method to update the child display order when a child is added.

How do you align a dynamic movie clip position with another movie clip which is in the root stage? I tried to get the mc in root x,y position, but the starting point of the class that loads the dynamic MC does not seems to be accurate. (Meaning at the root stage, the x,y is 0,0 but at the dynamic class, its somewhere like 100,20 for the browser area (and it actually vary base on the browser size))
**the other classes I used to run the custom classes below, I have it added this MC to stage

I have a .fla file that has VerticalMenu.as as the documentclass. I made a script for the file that i am working with that hasbuttons located within 2 movieclips. I am using the load movie from my main file (main.swf) as:
mc_zoom.loadMovie("detail.swf");
I then have a loader as a movieclip with the detail.swf
when the movie (detail.swf) is loaded the preloader I am trying to make/set the play to go:
_root.gotoAndStop(2);
But this does not work - it works locally but when used with the main file (main.swf)

I have a movielclip, nav_mc, inside which contains my navigation buttons. Lets say I want to effect the time timeline. Before in AS 2.0 I could simply go

Now in AS 3.0, nothing works.

I've got a movieclip on the root of the stage called "bgImg", in that clip I've made this function:

what i want to do is to duplicate a movieclip into the root, but the movieclip i want to duplicate, isn't in the root, instead it is in another movieclip.get it? i hope thats clear...so i heard that the duplicateMovieClip function only works if both movieclips are in 'this', and so i'm guessing i use the attachmovie function. But it doesn't seem to work, how to use this function the way i want it to? i've looked at the flash help thing but its not exactly what i want...

My stage is empty except for an MC with a simple animation and an AS 2 layer. There is not a button or user interaction that engages the MC. I want the MC to play when the timeline reaches the frame with the AS. My MC has an instance name of 'blueMC' and here's the AS I've tried:
