May 31, 2010I'm loading an external .swf via typing the swf name into an input text field and hitting a submit button.
The swf loads fine, but I'm trying to incorporate updating a status text field on a successful load or if there is an error during loading.
I can't find my mistake in the code - to me it should be making load_status_txt display "ok", but the swf just loads with no status update. All the text fileds are fine, because if I code load_status_txt.text = "hello" straight after addChild(loader); - load_status_txt displays "hello"[code]...

Sep 10, 2009I�m making an image gallery. I want to load the large jpeg images externally. I wanted thumbnails at the bottom to fade up as the images load up, then when they are ready to be displayed, they are actually fully loaded and ready to be displayed and don�t take any more than a couple of frames to become visable, but this is eluding me.
I'm currently using Flash 10.0, and the mx.controls.loader from the flash components to load the images into, which works fine other than getting to it before the images are loaded. An Actionscript 2.0 that creates a loop over a few frames until the external image is loaded then moves on should enable me to get it done, but no luck so far.
I thought this would work:
if (this.getBytesLoaded()>=this.getBytesTotal()) {
gotoAndPlay("the label name on the next frame");
} else {
gotoAndPlay("the label name on the previous frame");
}
but it continues on the timeline even when the external image is not fully loaded yet.

Oct 24, 2011Just starting to delve into as3. I have made a flash website with four navigation buttons (home, products, about, contact). When user clicks on "products", an external movie clip is loaded and everything works fine. User clicks any button after that, and myLoader.unloadAndStop, the swf is removed when you navigate away from "products". However, if the "home", "about", or "contact" buttons are clicked first (before the external swf has been loaded), it of course, throws the 1009 error.I need some sort of if/else statement to check whether or not the external swf is loaded, remove it if it is, and if not, just navigate to the "page" clicked.[code]
