Jan 23, 2009So I have a photo gallery that loads with a series of thumbnails that link to larger images.The entire gallery is dynamically added to the stage using attachMovie when a user clicks on a button. Because the gallery is pretty big, I want to add a preloader that tells the user that thumbnails are loading. I have set my gallery up using three frame. The first frame measures how many bytes have been loaded, the second frame loops the timeline back to the first frame using 'gotoAndPlay(1);' The preloader code on the first frame looks like this:

Preloader - Load A Certain Amount Of Content?
Jan 2, 2011I have a preloader that I downloaded... What I want to do is have this load only a certain percentage of the move before it continues to play the file.I assume that I have to edit the line of code that gets the total amount of bytes for the file itself... expressed below:

Since the variable is 'total' how do I make it load only 25% then start? I

ActionScript 2.0 :: CS3 Preloader Help With Dynamic Content?
Aug 3, 2008I have a carousel that I am creating that recieves information from an XML file that points to a couple of .png's with corresponding "tooltip" messages that pop-up on rollover. I have searched all over the place, and I can't quite seem to figure it out. Can someone help with a guide on scripting a simple preloader for the actual content that the XML files points to? I will give you my .fla and source code.

Jun 2, 2010I've spent hours looking for a solution to why my preloader is not working. No luck. I've found alot of information, and have checked everything I can think of, but I am missing something.
Problem: Preloader is not displayed until 90% of content is loaded.[code]...
Most of the content is created dynamically, so I've had to embed one font type, but I've deselected the Export on Frame 1 option for this font. I still think this might be the issue though.
Actionscript 3.0 :: PreLoader Works After The Content Is Loaded?
Jun 16, 2009I would like to add preloader with progress bar to my AS3 page. It's an image gallery. The preloader is on frame 1 and the content is on frame 2. It seems like that the loader works after all the content is loaded. And the progress bar doesn't appear on the screen. What am I doing wrong? For the quick view, the code is below. I also attach the code. To make it simple, I am testing the code with just one image.

Nov 1, 2009I have a preloader.swf that loads the main "content" swf of my website. All is working alright, except once the preloader is done, the content swf doesn't start at frame one. Basically in the content swf I have some images and text that scroll onto the screen at frame one before the 'home' screen, but when preloader finishes it skips the animation and goes straight to the home screen. This isn't a big deal, but obviously it would be nice it people could see the animations at the start...

Jun 16, 2009I'm constructing a website in flash, and on each page of the website I have a dymanic text field pulling data from a .txt file for that page, (the news page has a dymanic text field called "newsText" which pulls data from "news.txt" for example) The website im working on is here: [URL] If you have a slower internet connection, whenever you click on the link to a new page, a small white square will appear in the corner before the content has fully loaded, this white square is a result of the scrollbar being disabled due to the content not being loaded yet (and thus having nothing to define wether or not it should need to scroll)
as the website grows in content this will become more and more of a problem. My actionscript ability is really limited. So whats the simplest way I can add a preloader to the page to load the content of the .txt file before displaying it?

I have frequented gotoAndLearn for a couple years and it has always proven to be incredibly useful for me as a novice coder. On to my problem: I have the basic skeleton for a portfolio site built using AS3. It runs like a dream when I test it on my computer, but when I posted it online it lags, creating a jittery effect that, we can all agree, is not desirable. ActionScript 2.0 :: Click On A Button Preloader Shows Up But Doesn't Stop To Load The Content?
Mar 4, 2006I just tested out my site in Firefox and IE. Everything works the way I want it to in Firefox but in IE I'm having trouble. When I click on a button my preloader shows up but doesn't stop to load the content, it plays straight through and then my movie pops up. Does anyone know why this might be happening? I've never encountered this problem before.

Aug 15, 2009I'm have made some buttons (movie clip) and when I click on it, I want a file (home.swf) to load in a loader (mx.contents.loader) and I want the other buttons to do the same, all load into the same loader. I have no Idea how to do that. The way I have it set up now, the home.swf will load over the entire screen and that is not what I want. May 20, 2010I have a menu whee you can choose a picture to lead, works great with first selection, but when you choose a different picture it loads over the last picture,I want to substitute the content of that movie clip not to load all the pictures in the same space. I treid to use clear() and removeChild(), but this only works when I choose pic1 then remove that to load pic2, is there an easy way to substitute the content for the new content?

I notice that if I remove stop(); I can get the percentage to work but not the preloader image. With the stop(); embedded the image preloader works but the percentage doesn't.
