View 3 Repliesi have one example flash stack galery fla file. i modified it as i need. But i have some problems with preloading, and getting the title of the files from XML. i tried too many things to make it works and failed. First problem is getting the title of the file from XML and printing it at dynamic text area. And the other problem is the bigger one at preloading. i tried to get the file size when all the images loaded and i think i cant, and while trying to show a preloading movie clip i cant add it to the stage and cant control its frames. i will attach all the files, you can extract all files in same folder.URL...
View 0 RepliesI have a xml photogallery that I'm loading into an empty movie clip in my main movie. I can preload each image seperatly but would like to have a preloader that preloads either all or a certain percentage of the images and then starts the gallery. I've provided the code below. I'm using mx 2004. Here's a link
Code:
function loadXML(loaded) {
if (loaded) {
xmlNode = this.firstChild;

I am loading an external swf photo gallery.Right now I am using a preloader to show up before the external swf is loaded. The preloader is in my main file.My problem is this - once the external swf is loaded, it still takes a couple of seconds before my photo gallery shows up.How can I avoid using 2 preloaders (one in my main file and one in the external swf)
View 1 RepliesI'm building a Flash photo gallery, and I came up with a solution using Flash and XML which is very, very similar to the one in this tutorial: [URL]. The catch is, I'd like to preload all of the images listed in the XML array before showing the first picture. Simply using _framesloaded will obviously not work; I searched around a bit on Internet, but I haven't yet found a solution. I thought I might try using an external script in PHP or javascript and use fscommand() in Flash, but I wanted to post here to see if anyone could think of another (simpler) way.
View 1 RepliesI've made this photo gallery but I'd like to add some extra things but don't know how to do it.
#1 - a preloader for the image loading,
#2 - make the image to show gradually like fading in in the box.
i have 49 different levels, each in a different movieclip.is it possible to just pre-load one of those movieclips at a time?
View 6 RepliesI am trying to figure out how to connect a preloader with a movieclip I made. Essentialy what I want to happen is for the heart graphic to start out black and white and as the percentage preloaded increase, the color version of the heart I masked will appear. Here is the link to the .FLA file. I have a basic mask over the colored version of the heart that I motion tweened to move. Now that I have this setup, how do I plug it into a preloader to enable it to sub as a load bar. Partially coloring the image as more of the document is loaded.

I have a Flash file with a lot of animation and effects applied. I am trying to optimize my Flash by moving away from timeline animation and using Actionscipt wherever possible. My file consists of several layers. I have used preloaders before but they were pretty basic. I ām comfortable with the framesLoaded and totalFrames coding but don't know what frames to count. I have my preloader in a MovieClip on the first frame of the first layer; therefore, the preloader is a child of the main stage. The other MovieClips are children of the main stage as well.
For example, how would I have the preloader look to a sibling (go up to parent and down to child on second frame of second layer)? I haven't found anything on the forums so maybe I'm going about this wrong. The following is what I have so far; it only goes up to the parent, not down to the child MovieClip I need to preload:
ActionScript Code:
if(MovieClip(parent).framesLoaded < MovieClip(parent).totalFrames){[code]........
i have this code on an empty movieclip that loads the external swf.

frame 38 has the empty movieclip hidden by another movieclip saying loading. frame 39 is where the loading movieclip disapeers. but its not working.
Is there a way to have the file reference work under ipad?

its for a photo gallery that I downlowded,the images fades in and out, but only start that when you click a button(timer).I'm trying to founf out where in the script I can change this, so that the photo's start automatically,rather than, on a button click.I have pasted the script below, is that ok, or would people rather a zip file of the files?

Are there any examples of Flash + Javascript libraries which allow you to display a variable-sized Flash movie in your page that captures Webcam snapshots (still frames), and submits them to your server in a JPEG format?
Currently I know of: jpegcam
I have an XML photo gallery, that when it starts it has a loader for the photos. It always starts with the XML file determined sequence, which is fine, but what happens is that the tabs on the right hand side of the photo loader go astray while it is loading the first photo. If the first photo was loaded instantly this wouldnt be an issue.Is there a way that I can preload that first photo, so that it is in memory when the swf file reads the XML file, allowing the first photo to be instantly loaded ?Amongst other things, I tried embedding the photo in the swf file, but it didnt work...obviously I have no idea what to script...I also created another scene, prior to the main scene, to preload the photo.. but it didnt work either, again probably used useless script...Going further in detail, this is the main script:
Code:
import com.mosesSupposes.fuse.*;
ZigoEngine.simpleSetup(Shortcuts, PennerEasing);

I have been searching for a particular photo gallery, and haven't got far. Here is an example of what I am looking for. With the example I wanting the user to be able to click on a photo for it to appear in the box above. I am looking for a tutorial, so I can customise to fit in my client's flash website.

View 1 Repliesi have my portfolio website which is a 1.5mb big flash presentation and i thought about making a preloader.the problem is that making a preloader for the entire site will take too long to load. i have tried that.
so i thought about making a preloader for each "page" or section of my presentation. for example- just for syneron, or just for m-systems (with each of them have a few diferent pages in the presentation, but their size is managable).
the problem is that i cant find anything is the preloader code that will let met control what frames to preload (for example, frames 100-200).
I've made preloaders before, but only by having a preloader.swf that loads the content.swf.Is it possible to have an swf preload itself, so to say?I suppose the swf doesn't start until it is read into memory completely, or am I wrong?
View 1 RepliesI have a preloader that loads an external swf. That external swf calls an xml file that takes a few seconds to process and load the images within the xml.
My issue is that the preloader is "lying" to me when it reaches 100% because once it loads the external swf there is still a few second delay before the images within the external swf display.
Logically that makes scene to me because the external swf bytes don't include the bytes of the images that it calls for.
SO,...
How do I get the preloader to count to 100% only when the entire external swf and all of its contents are loaded in?
I need both the XML and SWF to be fully loaded and available. The problem I have at the moment is that the swf loads and after a slight delay the xml content appears (this is more noticeable at lower bandwidths).I need for both to appear at the sametime. Is there a way of constructing a preloader that takes both swf and xml bytes together ie getBytesTotal for both swf and xml.
View 1 RepliesWhile the main movie is already visible and usable, I want to load some additional SWF's (not to large though, like 20-50kb) underwater... so not visible and they won't be appearing to people unless they click a certain button. It is not certain that people will actually go to view them, but I want to make sure that some parts are immediately visible (so already loaded), in cache so to speak.
View 11 RepliesI have an FLV embedded in a SWF, and it preloads whenever a user visits the page it's on. Is there a way to prevent it from preloading, or force a user to click play before it loads?

I am currently building a flash site which uses dynamic images throughout using loadMovie("picture.jpg", mc_name) to load them into various movie clips. This all works fine and the site is starting to look good, the only problem i have is with preloading. I have the main swf file and everything contained within it preloading with a progress bar at the start which works fine. When the movie loads the main homepage image slowly fades in, however as the loadMovie("home.jpg", homepic) is on the same frame as the homepage, if you don't have the image in your cache then you miss the fade completely in the time it takes the image to load.
As a result i am wanting to preload this (and a few other) images during the initial preloader if possible, that way i can prevent this problem from occurring. Unfortunately from what i understand i can't run loadMovie from within my preloader actions as they're in a different frame so i'm really not sure how to do it, given the image is external
Can't get this to work, and it only sends out an output error. The zombies.swf file is in the same directory so I'm clueless

import com.greensock.easing.*;

I have a swf file that opens with a full browser xml slideshow.I've noticed when I have a preloader on frame 1 for my file, it is 'completing' before the xml images have loaded everything else loads(a bunch of text and some menu items) but the xml slideshow images seem to be outside of the scope for my preloader.how I can tell my file not to play until all elements (xml driven slideshow, menu items etc) are loaded?
View 7 RepliesI am working on a site and am using a lot of different scrollpane components that use outside .swf movies as its content. What I would like to do is create a progress bar for each section that uses this scenario so my users know it is doing something.
View 1 RepliesI am facing some problem on preloading swf in Chrome and IE. It only works in Firefox. When i preload flash, Iam getting bytesTotal as 0. So when i bytesLoaded divide by bytesTotal will cause infinity. I read this article on GZIP. [URL] But tested that the response compression was not gzipped. Here's my preloading script:
