View 3 RepliesI am trying to figure out how to connect a preloader with a movieclip I made. Essentialy what I want to happen is for the heart graphic to start out black and white and as the percentage preloaded increase, the color version of the heart I masked will appear. Here is the link to the .FLA file. I have a basic mask over the colored version of the heart that I motion tweened to move. Now that I have this setup, how do I plug it into a preloader to enable it to sub as a load bar. Partially coloring the image as more of the document is loaded.

I have a Flash file with a lot of animation and effects applied. I am trying to optimize my Flash by moving away from timeline animation and using Actionscipt wherever possible. My file consists of several layers. I have used preloaders before but they were pretty basic. I âm comfortable with the framesLoaded and totalFrames coding but don't know what frames to count. I have my preloader in a MovieClip on the first frame of the first layer; therefore, the preloader is a child of the main stage. The other MovieClips are children of the main stage as well.
For example, how would I have the preloader look to a sibling (go up to parent and down to child on second frame of second layer)? I haven't found anything on the forums so maybe I'm going about this wrong. The following is what I have so far; it only goes up to the parent, not down to the child MovieClip I need to preload:

i have this code on an empty movieclip that loads the external swf.

frame 38 has the empty movieclip hidden by another movieclip saying loading. frame 39 is where the loading movieclip disapeers. but its not working.
On the main timeline I've got solar_mc also On the main timeline I've got planet_mc and inside planet_mc I've got pluto_mc.. In pluto_mc. the actionscripts are writen to display text info, change colors, mouseovers, etc... My problem is the actionscript written in pluto_mc makes moon_mc, crib_mc and hale_mc on the main timeline function (changing it's colours, information, etc...). But I need to move moon_mc, crib_mc and hale_mc to solar_mc. When I do so the pluto_mc action script does not work! How can I put moon_mc, crib_mc and hale_mc in to one mc (solar_mc) and still make the actionscript in pluto_mc work? I've used the _root. command in the script pluto_mc..

Come to think of it, all I'd really need would be a stroke, rather than a glow; but I don't know of any "stroke filter".. If the big picture would help at all, what I'm trying to do is "add" borders to a few (intersecting and growing) disk layer masks.. I'm trying to increase the speed of a single movieclip. The frame rate of my movie is 12, and I don't want to increase the frame rate of the entire movie just to speed up one movieclip.
I've seen tutorials all over the web, and all the actionscript controlled speeds of movieclip tutorials are for more interactive animations, such as mouse movements and rollovers.
I'm looking for something that simply plays a movieclip faster on the timeline and I'm sure there is a simple code for this.
What I need to accomplish is advancing (playing) the timeline each time the same movieclip is clicked. It's basically an animation of a clock and each time the user clicks on the the clock face i would like to have the hands animate to a certain time. Everything will be set up with frame labels and stops on certain frames. I'm just not sure how to start this. instance name: clockface_btn

This works, but transparency varies for each element MovieClip separately, but I would like that would have changed the whole MovieClip transparency as a single image.
Menu(); is generated from XML.
I have a movieClip. It has two children, a rectangle shape on layer 2, and a textfield on layer 1. The movieClip is used as a button.
The problem is that the textField and the rectangle are firing mouse "over" and "out" events individually. I want the movieClip to function like the old ActionScript 2 movieClips--as one single button.
I tried

but then the movieClip did not respond to any mouse events.
I'm new with AS 3 and I'm struggling with this: I have five different movieclips in a single frame and I want to asign the functions "roll over", "roll out" and "press" to every single movieclip. View 2 RepliesI'm pretty new to Flash and seem to be struggling with variable scope, events and where to put code within movieclips/main area etc. What I'm trying to do is produce a Flash movie that will allow the user to click on a tool from a selection, i.e. a circle, then click on another part of the screen to place the centre of the circle, with a second click to set the radius of the circle (an alternative would be a single click and drag to place the circle and drag it out to the desired radius.) Once the mouse if clicked a 2nd time, or the drag operation is completed, the circle will stay at the selected radius.

This uses a simple circle movieclip, and the above code is placed in Frame 1 of the background as opposed to the movieclip itself. It resizes the circle movieclip ok, but I want to be able to control the resize with the mouse or with a single click/drag.
What I am trying to achieve is to remove an array (containing a single MovieClip multiple times) from the stage alltogether, once you call an end public function. I can remove all the other Movieclips on stage (that are not in the array) using this.removechild(MyChild) The array is located in a package, calling another package where the MC is located, and put on stage with Event.ENTER_FRAME.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create flash app where a single jpeg (person headshot) is loaded into the masked movieclip (same size as passport photo) (using loadMovie), then user can edit the image (drag inside mask, zoom, rotate) and then after pressing a button the app duplicates the EDITED image 4 times - to make sort of headshot sheet.
While I know how to load movie, drag single clip or scale it, I have no idea how to duplicate the movieclip once is edited, to make identical copies of it (scaled, rotated...)If I use duplicateMovieClip it won't work since it won't duplicate the loaded image.
I have a character, every body part is a movieclip. Now I wanted to put a movieclip for the eyes inside of the headmovieclip so that I can change them independently from the mouth. So in the eye-movieclip that is inside of the head-movieclip I put two keyframes, one for opened eyes and one for closed eyes. I put it to "Single frame" in properties. Now, whenever I make a pose and I change the frame number under properties so that it displays the closed eyes, it does that for the whole movie, not only on the frames that I changed it.
I wanted to use that to control things like eyes, ears and the mouth individually but like this it won't work, it changes it for the whole animation.
i have my portfolio website which is a 1.5mb big flash presentation and i thought about making a preloader.the problem is that making a preloader for the entire site will take too long to load. i have tried that.
so i thought about making a preloader for each "page" or section of my presentation. for example- just for syneron, or just for m-systems (with each of them have a few diferent pages in the presentation, but their size is managable).
the problem is that i cant find anything is the preloader code that will let met control what frames to preload (for example, frames 100-200).
